Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Let's pick up where we left off. A certain "elf" helped me make stockings for all the kids I know:

Here she is, checking out the inventory for the stockings:

I followed her directions and labelled each stocking with the recipient's name:

She made one final inspection pass:

Then she checked her notes and made some final adjustments to who is naughty and who is nice.

On December 16th, I wore some very old silk slacks from INC. They are deep rose silk with pink rosebuds embroidered on them. The cold shoulder sweater was purchased in DC in October.

I wore a fuchsia suede jacket on top.

I wore two necklaces - a gold herringbone and a long beaded tassel.

On the 17th, I wore a red knit dress from Alice and Olivia that I got at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop's after Thanksgiving sale. That was a good sale !!

On top, a very old boiled wool sweater from Coldwater Creek. It is very warm and also very itchy.

These rose patterned hose added a special touch.

Here's a better look at the embroidery on the sweater. There is a name for this type of raised embroidery, but I can't remember it. Matelasse ?

The next day, the 18th, we had our Ancillary Management party at Ola Mexican Grill. I wore a pair of custom made (but not for me) silk brocade slacks. They are gold with deep red brocade.

On top, a gold sweater in fine knit from Banana Republic and my burgundy red velvet booties from Jeffrey Campbell.

On top, a heavy velvet bomber jacket with brass studs.

The next day, I was not happy with my outfit. These two pieces are some of my favorites, but not together. The gold tones obviously do not match. So I will wear the sweater with black bottoms, like I usually do, and the gold leather skirt with a lighter gold color top.

For my last day of work for an entire week, I wore grey slacks from Express and an old sweater with a faux fur collar from Joseph A.

We had the Holtzman Family Christmas party on December 22nd, so once again, I had my own personal "elf" help me wrap gifts.

She was so exhausted by her duties that she collapsed to sleep still wearing her elf suit.

I finished the wrapping - after all, I am the chief elf.

Here they are - the ones on the left in Hanukah paper were for my in-laws, since Win is Jewish.    99.9 %, according to 23 and Me.

For the party, I wore black leggings, a black cashmere sweater with tonal crystals on the hem and sleeves, and my Lewitt pirate boots.

Benjy opened his gifts first. He got 5 silver coins, each a one ounce piece that Doc picked out.

Joseph got four silver coins, a soccer ball and a hand held ping pong game that he wanted.

He is pretty good at spinning the ball on his fingertip.

Calista got a Lite Brite, a Jewelry making set, and this doll and horse. Boomerang and Abigail were her favorites.

Preston, over on the left, got 5 silver coins also.

Doc loved his T shirt - Papa, Man, Myth, Legend.

That night, I took Mimi to see the Celtic Angels Christmas show. It was her birthday gift. The show was beautiful. They performed Irish Xmas songs, Christmas classics, and the Celtic Knight Dancers and the Trinity Band Ensemble of Dublin accompanied them.

It was a wonderful show at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, but alas, no photos allowed.

I wore my final sparkly outfit from years past - a silver brocade skirt from H&M, a sparkly cold shoulder T from INC and a wide elastic belt with crystals.

Here's a blurry look at all the shiny bits.

The 23rd was our Kenni's 12th birthday. That's getting pretty old.

We all saved our scraps from Xmas dinner for him to gobble.

And gobble he did !! After all, he has to watch his figure. The pot belly continues on !!

The Lauer Family Christmas party was on Christmas Day. I repeated the Ann Taylor bow sweater and Reebok knit slacks.

But this time, I wore a Louis Vuitton cashmere shawl and carried a tan Kate Spade handbag. It poured that night and all the next day.

On the 26th, I did hit the Working Wardrobes Resale Shop sale. I got a few nice things, which I will show you as I wear them. The thrifts have been great this year.

I wore a Style and Co outfit - leggings and navy sweater with gold lurex accents. I wore black suede booties from Bongo and a tassel necklace, also from my DC trip.

On the 27th, I got my highly contested mammogram. It was normal, but I am still going to change from Anthem Blue Cross insurance as soon as possible. They changed the provider rules AFTER open enrollment, trying to require me to go to a mammogram center where I work closely with the physicians and staff. Oh HELL NO.  After much argument and NEVER getting a call back, I prevailed.

I wore plum leggings (weird fit, going to donate bag) and a plum lurex sweater. I wore my fuchsia suede jacket on top. As a reward, I went to a thrift shop down in the Laguna Woods area, and that was also a good trip. I hate Blue Cross.

Since we have had over 4.8 inches of rain here in SoCal in the month of December, my roses are finally producing.

Get ready for lots of beautiful arrangements.

Well, that catches us up. I have to work for two days, then I am off for another five. Stay tuned fro lots of shenanigans and hijinks!!
