The Rocket's Red Glare, The Bombs Bursting In Air !!!

Of course, you all know that last night was the big fireworks night - but what I'll bet you didn't know was that good old Huntington Beach has quite the 4th of July history. It reached a fever peak in 1994, when there was a full blown riot downtown. Consequently, fireworks have been banned for many years, but they have been legalized once again the past couple of years. But my dogs were fine. Elli stayed inside with us -  more on that later.

First, let's finish our tour of LA with the Holtzmans. Saturday night saw us lounging at the Shelter Hotel, a boutique hotel located in the heart of LA. It was quiet and chill.

In the morning, Doc had a great idea, so off we went to the Fairfax district to a world famous deli.
Across the street, we noticed that our little Vinni Barbarino Holtzman has a new business venture.

Just Kiddin '  - you all know that Vinni is an adopted pupper of ours.

As we were parking, some man was hitting on me mercilessly. I guess he didn't see Doc taking a slew of pictures right beside me.

Anyway, I finally got to the front of the restaurant. That's him, going in the door.

Canter's is not known for its grand decor. But they have finally spruced up the paint.

As you can see, the menu is quite small. Just kiddin' again, it's six pages like this.

Canter's is known for it's food!!! I got the chopped liver APPETIZER, and Doc got a pastrami and corned beef sandwich.

Before we left, we got some Jewish pastries. On the top, we have prune hamantaschen. spritzer cookies, rugalach, and a rainbow cookie. On the bottom, chocolate chip mandel bread, a bar of marble halvah, a black and white, and a brownie.

Then we came home and got a surprise !!! Elli has been chewing her tail again. So she got a dose of flea medicine, a flea bath, and the return of the cone of shame.

If I am at home, I remove the collar and just keep an eye on her. But she has to wear it at night.

So it's back to work today, and we were greeted with our every three year survey from the Joint Commission for Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations. It's a big deal. It's also a surprise - I'm getting tired of surprises. I was betting in my head that they would come today, so I had my outfit all prepped. I should have bet out loud - then I would be rich. Here's what I wore:

I wore my new St John jacket with the gold trim, and a Bar III dress from Macy's.

I doubled up on necklaces - the shorter one is Ann Taylor and the longer one is INC.

On my right arm, a ceramic ring from Nordstrom, and a tricolor bracelet that was my mom's.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set and two jade bracelets.
