Oh My Aching Back

I hurt my back last week. It got better, and then like an idiot, I went running on Sunday and now it is killing me. I take complete responsibility. But wearing my corset helps!!! It supports my back. I haven't worn it in months. Here is what it was under yesterday:

Love the ouch face. This is a Hale Bob sweater with a no name swirly skirt. The sweater has grey pearls on the sleeves.

I topped it with my white boucle blazer from Graff.

My White House Black Market belt also holds my back up.

I went with a statement necklace from INC with giant crystals.

On my left arm, yellow gold wedding rings and my CDC.

On my right arm, an enamel/crystal ring and a metal cuff, also from INC.

Today, I feel even worse. But I do love my Philosophy dress.

It needs very little accessorizing. I added my costume tassel necklace/belt.

On Sunday, one of the best dinners I have had in a long time. I made bacon wrapped scallops and rice pilaf.

Pandi's Rough Night

Pandi does not react very well to flea medicine. She either breaks out in a rash, gets very lethargic, or........ has a million accidents on and near her training pad. Last night was the third option. Ugh. Well, this too shall pass, at least for another month.

Back to me - this is what I wore Friday:

It was chilly and windy and my back hurt. I must have tweaked it working out. So it was St John black knit pants and a cashmere turtleneck to the rescue.

This sweater vest is so sparkly and glittery in person - perfect for an all black getup.

My deep red leather jacket from id Sport added some color.

I chose my tricolor metal necklace to compliment the vest.

On my left arm, a studded leather wrap bracelet and my pear solitaire.

Yesterday, we just did a bit of shopping. I walked over to the Daiso store because my back felt better if I didn't sit all day like I did on Friday. We got out kitchen cabinets redone with slider pull out drawers, so I got some of Daiso's fun stuff to go along with that.

For the kitchen - a frying screen, draining paper for fried foods, and gas stove burner covers. I have a vintage 60s era gas stove that I have managed to maintain in an almost pristine state, and these burner covers help a lot.

The personal items were a bunny toilet deodorizer patch, underarm sweat pads for my expensive jackets, and suit bags. I like to keep my nicer clothes in plastic suit bags after they have aired out.

Two drawer items - a plastic tray to hold spoons, etc and liner paper. Didn't use the paper yet.

And the extras - a dish for Pandi, a lucky cat key cover so I don't have to fumble for the house key, a broom hanger and a sanding block.

Today, I am making bacon wrapped scallops for lunch and then I will try to run the park at a slower pace. If my back acts up, then I will walk. So far so good.

Fuzzy Time

I heard that it's National Margarita Day, not National Fuzzy Navel Day. So since I don't like margaritas, I will give you a fuzzy sweater instead.

Underneath it is a dress from Apt 9. I got it a long time ago and ignored it until now.

On top, my fuzzy red cashmere sweater from Neiman Marcus. It has a matching camisole.

I wore two necklaces because the longer one hit me at a somewhat inappropriate spot. Both are Kenneth Jay Lane pieces.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding rings and a red leather/crystal bracelet.

On my right arm, a gold bracelet and a garnet ring.

Yesterday I tried a whole different color scheme. The blue ombre tunic sweater is Joseph A. It will be going in the trash because it snags like crazy.  The skirt is Peck and Peck from Stein Mart.

On top, a green suede jacket from Bernardo.

Here's a better look at the skirt. It has a back zip, elastic front waist and pockets.

Another one of my mom's KJL pieces. I am on a roll.

And my INC navy suede shoes for the win.

California Chillin'

Even though it's almost always "chill" here in Huntington Beach, the last two days have actually been cold, due to a cold front from Canada. So I got what may be my only opportunity to wear some winter favorites this year. Yesterday:

I combined my tweed Mossimo slacks with a blouse by Metaphor. You will see the gold studs on the collar later.

On top, a long ribbed duster by Frenchie. It was one of the first things I bought at full price from Nordstrom years ago, and I remember feeling bad about spending the money. But here it is, still looking great!!

I guess I lied, since you can barely see the gold studs. But you can see my necklace and the twisted yarn collar on the cardigan. At one time, it had a self belt.

Today, another faux furry wonder. This is a sweater by Amanda Smith. The fur is removable, although I have never done that.

The color block sheath dress underneath is by Taylor.

And my pewter belt from White House Black Market for some shape.

This onyx and silver cable was my mom's.

On my right arm, a silver twist bracelet and a mother of pearl ring.

On my left arm, a mabe pearl ring and a leather/crystal cuff from Baltimore.

And that's it, except for links, and there are four new ones!!

The Mystery Surrounding Pandora's Birth

Pandi is an adoptee, as are Kenni and Vinni. When we met, the veterinarian at the shelter confirmed that Pandi was 5 years old. They are mega-accurate when estimating a dog's age. I have tested them.
So today, I got a lovely video from the vet that celebrated Pandi's birthday. Okay, I adopted her on 4/12/17, so I just automatically went back 5 years and calculated her birthday as 4/12/12. But.......
she was picked up as a stray on 2/16/12, so she was around on 2/16/12, so I guess I will make an executive decision and make today her birthday and 4/12/12 our anniversary date. Mostly because today is my brother's 60th birthday, and how cool to share a birthday with my feisty but lovely Pandora. Here is what I wore to celebrate two birthdays (and get a passport, which is always some work due to the fact that I was not born in the US):

This is a silk blouse of 80's vintage that has a logo that looks like Liz Claiborne, but no label to prove it. It is 100% silk - that label is where I saw the logo.

On the bottom, my beloved and trusted black slacks from Fendi. The most perfect pair of slacks that I have ever owned. They are a black on black pattern that is just so subtle yet really makes them cool.

My black plastic waterfall necklace was soooooo worth the $4.99 or so I paid for it. I always get comments on it. It's definitely plastic.

And now a drumroll for the final item I got with my Nordstrom gift card for my birthday. I did well to get 4 items. I usually buy fragrance or devices like Clarisonic, but I have a bunch of devices. I get lazy about using them.

Pink satin ballet flats with studded ankle wrap straps by Kenneth Cole Reaction. Completely awesome due to the pink/black/stud combination. There was one pair, in my size, so I assume it was a return item, because it was deeply discounted.

Okay, so yesterday revolved around my trying to decide if this skirt is worth keeping. The pleated skirt and cardigan are both Loft. The cardigan is slinky knit, and the skirt is very stiff material. That's good because the pleats stand out and it is lined.

I was comfy all day, so I am keeping this outfit.

I had a lot of top choices. I picked a halter shoulder sequined tank from Love Match, because I love sparkle in any form.

On my left arm, a silver circle bracelet to echo the skirt, a Celtic wedding band, and a three stone ring, of which the center stone is pale lavender. I have to find out what it is someday - I think high quality crystals.

On my right arm, two white gold bracelets. and a sapphire/diamond ring.

And that all, but so much linking! YAY !!!
