August is the Sunday of Summer

The summer is winding down - this weekend is Labor Day weekend, and I have four glorious days off!!

Then in mid September, we are going on our first plane ride in two years - to Tucson, Arizona, where I will attend the Infection Prevention Directors Summit. We will stay for two extra days as well. I am not a fan of Phoenix, but a friend told me that Tucson is quite different. I have hope. We will be at the Loews Ventana up in the foothills for 2 days and then an Air BnB in downtown for 2 days.

Anyway, back to my outfits. On August 9th, I wore an outfit that I will be taking to the Summit because it travels well and always looks good.

This is a knit set from Antthony Designs that is a swing tank top with a jacket. It is the softest fabric I have ever felt. I wear it with a variety of brown pants. These are Slinky Brand.

Here's a closer look at the sequin detailing on the set. I had misplaced the large amber pendant that goes with these necklaces, but I found it during the floor replacement episode. I also found 2 earrings that were misplaced, and one had little diamonds. I was happy - 3 jewelry items back into use !!

The next day, I went for some more comfort. These joggers are from a store up in Canada. I got them when we went there in a previous life (2019). The top is from JC Penney - it's their sports and exercise brand.

I like the little twist at the hem - just enough detail to make it interesting.

On top, a very heavy weight knit jacket form Chico's.

On August 11th, we had our triennial mock survey at the hospital, so I dragged out one of my very professional looking outfits. This dress is from Petite Sophisticate, a store that is no longer around.

I like the waist detail - the metal tubes are silver toned, so I went with silver jewelry. It all belonged to my mom.

On top, a longer length blazer from Astuces, and on the bottom, Isaac Mizrahi Maryjane pumps.

On August 13th, I wore my favorite Ivanka Trump knit dress. When I put it on, I noticed that the shoulder zipper had lost the pull, and there were some little holes near it. I think it happened during dry cleaning.

So, I promptly went on EBay and Voila! I ordered the exact same dress again. That's how much I love it. I did have the original for about 6 years and wore it on a lot of trips. It got a lot of use, so I was very happy that I found it again. EBay is great for that kind of thing.

I finished it off with a Versace belt and a crystal necklace that was also my mom's.

Fast forward from Friday the 13th to Monday the 16th. I wore a equestrian print skirt from Style and Co with a knit tank from Coldwater Creek.

I finished this off with a vintage cord belt and some sapphires. You can see the beaded scarf and neckline on the tank in this shot.

It was roasting on August 17th - at least for Huntington Beach, where it got up to 81 degrees. So I wore white slacks with a tropical print top.

My pink Kate and Rosy jacket topped the outfit in case of air conditioning.

The top has hibiscus flowers and tassels.

On August 18th, I wore new pants !! They are from White House Black Market.

This tropical print top is old. I got it at the American Cancer Discovery Shop near my mom's house.

I also wore a Liz Claiborne white jacket on top. It was part of a pantsuit, but I destroyed the slacks with soy sauce.

I got a ton of compliments on the vintage dress that I wore on August 19th. It's from Robbie Bee. It's a faux wrap around and is entirely crystal pleated.

It can be matched with any color gemstone, so I usually wear one emerald and one amethyst necklace.

August 20th was casual Friday. I wore a fluttery tank top by Vince Camuto with sharkskin slacks by Sun Moon Stars. They are very old.

My sandals with crystals on the straps are from Badgely Mischka.

The top is burn out style, so I had to wear a black cami underneath. My necklaces are tanzanite and lighter toned amethyst. The tanzanite was Mom's and the amethyst came from Niagara On the Lake, a cute town we visited on our Eastern Canada trip.

On August 23rd, I wore a dress from Taylor. I have had it for a while, and I wear it every summer.

This is another vintage belt that I bought many years ago when it was new. I guess that makes me vintage as well.

On August 24th, I wore another very comfy dress. It is not a brand name and doesn't even have a label.

I spruced it up with an Escada belt and my Hermes CDC. You can see the sequin trim on the dress in this picture. I will probably take this to the Summit also. I have one dinner program scheduled.

On August 25th, I wore another pair of Slinky Brand slacks, this time in navy. My top is from INC.

I wore a twisted metal belt that I have had a long time and a lapis and jade necklace that was my mom's.

On Thursday, it was very warm again, so I wore white slacks with a light weight peasant style top from INC.

The embroidery on it is actually silver, so I wore some of the silver jewelry that Doc got me from the Southwest Indian Foundation.

On Friday, I wore a muumuu style dress with pink hose. I like to wear hose at work, even tough it's dorky. But I didn't have any without holes, so I wore these pink ones.

I was really comfy.

I have to show you the newest additions to my jewelry collection. These pieces came from Nordstrom, as part of their Anniversary Sale. I can usually get great deals on fine jewelry at the sale. They are from Savvy Cie Jewelry, and are mostly peridot, with the exception of this ring, which has a halo made of tiny diamonds.

The earrings are really nice too, but they don't have anything on the wire to keep them from sliding out of my ears. I had extra rubber stops that I used. I would hate to lose one. The description clocks them in at 6 carats per stone. I believe it - they are definitely statement earrings.

This ring is entirely peridot. I got it in a larger size to wear on my index finger.

On Monday, August 30th, I wore another outfit that always looks good and never needs ironing. I don't remember the brand, but it is part of the haul that I got when my mom was in her final illness and I was sleeping down at her apartment many nights.

Once again, the lapis and jade necklace makes an appearance. See the gold watch? It's pretty, and has a diamond covered face, but it kept snagging my top.

Yesterday, I wore another very old dress. It's made of machine fashioned lace. It was not my best look, so I am donating the dress in the hopes that it finds a wearer who will love it on themselves.

I wore an Austrian crystal necklace in jewel tones. In keeping with the bling theme, I wore sandals with gold ankle straps from Thalia Sodi. These are great shoes.

Today, I wore my WHBM slacks again. The floral tank has huge armholes, so I wore an ivory waterfall cardi on top to cover it up.

Here's a look at the multicolored gems that accompanied the outfit. Once again, I got a lot of compliments, mostly about the colors.

Onto other things besides clothing. On August 11th, Pandi wanted to show me how much she loves me.

On August 26th, she just had to show me again.

Earlier that day, I went for a walk in Mile Square Park. It's in Fountain Valley, a community just south east of Huntington Beach. There is no fountain and no valley, but heck. As I was walking, look who I saw!!!

My darling Egyptian geese!!! They have a little tribe in Mile Square Park!! It's about 4 miles away from Huntington Beach Central Park, where the Egyptians were first spotted. Now they have two locations (at least). I counted 8 of them - that seems to be their standard flock number.
