Life Is A Beach !

I went over to a TJMaxx in nearby Fountain Valley to find some cornbread chips that I had seen on the internet and had been hunting for. I found them, and I also found this:

My Jacki has been modeling without my permission! Oh well, as long as she gives me the money, that's okay.

On July 8th, we took Mimi and Win to get caught up on their vaccinations for winter respiratory illnesses. I wore this yellow dress from H&M that I used to wear a lot for work.

Pandi has been practicing her yoga. Her she is, doing the downward dog. That exhausted her, so she passed out halfway into her crate.

I only made one purchase on Amazon Prime Day - this comforter set. It's not the best and it's not the worst, but it was inexpensive.

I potted the fake money tree that I got from Temu. The Spanish moss came from Dollar Tree.

On July 11th, we didn't do much. I wore this knit sundress from Taylor with shoes from Skechers. It doesn't need a necklace. I am trying to get over the PTSD that I have from wearing this dress to the dentist. I am almost recovered - I hate the dentist.

Here's my beautiful front porch.

And here are three fake Boston ferns that I also got from Temu. I am giving these a try because it's hard to water real plants on the window ledge.

On July 12th, we had the trees in the backyard trimmed, so we had to hang out at home. I wore a swing top from Naked Zebra and slacks from Banana Republic.

This dried plant display is made of stuff I smuggled home from Ireland in 1994.

The butterflies are all dead ones that I have found on my front lawn. I dry them out and stiffen them with hair spray, then glue them to the display. It's getting crowded, and I have added two more since I took this photo. Our next-door neighbor raises monarchs, so we have a lot flying around.

My Ipsy bag came. In it, from top to bottom:

1) What's Up Beauty Flirtique Eye and Cheek Palette

2) Skincare Junkie Gentle Jelly Facial Cleanser

3) Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte powder bronzer

4) SLEEK'E Silky Hair Serum

5) REALHER Long Lasting Makeup Collagen Setting Spray

On July 13th, I made a special pickup at Lowe's - I will show you in a minute. I wore a dress from Eci with a Kate Spade belt and Skechers shoes.

Here it is! A new BBQ from CharBroil. I assembled it myself.

On July 14th, I did some errands while Doc took Win to the DMV to renew his license. I wore another dress from Eci with sandals by Thalia. I got the necklace at our neighborhood garage sale last March.

On July 15th, we took Mimi to see her new pulmonologist in Newport Beach. I wore a dress from Anne Klein and shoes from Halogen. The belt is White House Black Market.

On July 16th, we just hung out and did a dog walk, then went to Tommy's Original Hamburgers for lunch. I wore Paige jeans, an embroidered top from INC, and shoes from Temu. I got chili on my jeans, but luckily it came out.

On July 19th, we went to the swap meet. I wore a denim vest from temu and jeans from Fever. I got some great finds!

I got two pairs of jeans for $2 each - one from Habitual that retails for $129, and one from Lee that retails for $49.95.

I also spied a bottle of Kerastase Chronologiste Hair Regenerant. It was $1, and retails for $106. I have been using it, and it works very well to remove old products and hairspray from my hair, leaving it very soft.

Then I found a Fortnum and Mason Carousel Cookie tin. The wind-up music box still works!

On July 20th, I wore a Chesley dress, Skechers sandals, and a Cookie Lee necklace to inaugurate the BBQ. I made hamburgers. I am working my way up to steak, since cooking on a propane grill is a bit different.

On July 21st, we went to downtown HB for our walk. I wore Old Navy pants, a top from BCBG and a knit jacket from I Joah. My new sneakers are from Easy Spirit, and I got them at Saks.

Good old Farquhar Park!

I decided to take pictures of all of the restaurants that are on the second floor, and that have an ocean view. A friend was trying to remember where he went. First up, Hurricanes. BJs Brewhouse is down below.

The next one is appropriately named 2nd Floor.

Then we have Fred's Mexican Cafe and Cantina.

The US Open of Surfing will be going on here in HB, also known as Surf City. They were setting it all up. It runs from July 26th to August 3rd.

Here is the Official Store.

Here is the Beach Bar.

A private viewing box.

Another second-floor restaurant called BLK Earth Sea Spirits.

And the Huntington Beach Beer Company.

Doc used to have his medical office in this building. It's now a bike shop. For some reason, there is a rabbit on the sign.

On July 22nd, we went up to nearby Seal Beach. Hennessy's Tavern has a two for Tuesday - two burgers for the price of one. They are delicious. I wore a shift dress from Explosion, and Catherine Malandrino sandals.

This is the Bay Theater - it is newly remodeled. It was built in 1945. It took from 2016 to 2024 to restore, although I think the pandemic slowed it down.

The library in on Electric Avenue - the old Pacific electric Red car trains ran along this street. It ran in 1904 to 1976.

This is the station house where you purchased your ticket.

Here I am, boarding the Red car!

Of course we hit up the Friends of the Library Bookstore!

A view down modern Electric Avenue.

We loved this giant old house. It must have been a boarding house or a hotel, because it was huge!

This outdoor nursery is always fun to go to.

There is a Trump Store right near the pier.

Heres' the pier - it's longer than the HB pier, at 1865 feet.

There used to be more seal sculptures on the original pier. It was restored in 2016 after a fire.

Here's the playground.

It's a short beach, but very wide, and has a breakwater. Seal Beach used to regularly flood before the breakwater was constructed. Long Beach is in the distance.

It was very windy!

July 23rd saw us back home again. I wore a casual outfit from Gucci and Temu sneakers.

On July 25th, the Salvation Army had a $2.99 sale. Here's what I got:

Luxology top, retail $25

Amazon dress, retail $29

Windsor dress, retail $39.90

J Ferrar sweater, retail $60

Rachel Roy top, retail $28

Calvin Klein shorts, retail $109

J Crew scalloped camisole, retail $80

Dream of Me Maxi dress, retail $89.99

EM top, retail $34

And a lace peasant top with no label, but very pretty.

On July 26th, we went to Pioneer Day at the LDS church with Mimi, I wore a vintage skirt, a Cable and Gauge sweater, an Ann Taylor Belt, and Temu sandals.

Doc got a bandana, and I got a bonnet.

I also got a doll that Jacki tries to steal every time she comes in the house.

It was at Gibbs Park, a butterfly sanctuary. There were burgers, hot dogs, corn and watermelon. There was a cake walk and other games.

On July 28th, I had my annual physical. I wore a dress from CeCe, a Calvin Klein belt and a Neiman Marcus necklace. The doctor gave me an A+ for my health. I am lucky in that regard.

Then the kids helped me BBQ some pork chops. The local flock of wild parrots were flying overhead.

I gave them the burnt pieces that stuck to the grill and the dripping pan. They loved it.

On the 29th, we went back to Hennessy's Tavern in Seal Beach and walked the pier again since it was so pleasant last week. Doc loves quiet little Seal Beach. I wore the Amazon dress.

My Birchbox came. Inside, from left to right:

1) Sexual Pour Homme Cologne sample

2) Daily Concepts Facial Scrubber

3) ATHR Beauty Moonlight Crystal Palette

4) Nomad Intense Eyeshadow

5) MAC Prep and Prime Lip Base and Creamsheen Lipstick

6) Beauty Protector Protect and Condition Daily Conditioner

On July 30th, I went to CVS for hair color and nail polish. I wore red slacks from Banana Republic and the EM top.

On July 31st, we hung out and I wore this pretty sundress from BeBop.

I colored my hair, and it came out VERY blond. At first, I hated it, but now that it has faded somewhat, it's okay. I will never buy that shade again.

August 1st was another chill day. I wore another vintage skirt and an Old Navy Tshirt. The skirt has pretty handkerchief details.

On Monday, we did a giant grocery shop at Aldi. We needed a lot. I wore the Lee jeans and a Vince Camuto tank top. I wore the neighborhood garage sale necklace again.

On Tuesday, I went to Home Depot to get some plants to replace a few dead ones on the front porch. I wore Paige jeans, and a Cha Cha Vente top that I got at a thrift shop in Savannah.

Today, we went to the opening of the new H Mart Supermarket. I wore the Luxology top and my Banana Republic slacks. My shoes are Temu and my necklace came from Charleston.

I guess my outfit bored Pandi.

We never got into H Mart. The line was all the way around the mall. Hundreds of people.

Parking was insane, but we can easily walk.

There were security and police galore. The company must have made a million dollars today.

The floral congratulatory bouquets were amazing!

I loved these two the best.

Anyway, that's about all for now. I will show you the inside of H Mart once we actually get in. I will also keep you filled in with any other exciting things that I might do, so stay tuned!
