Thanksgiving 2019

Let's go way way back to November 15th. This is what I wore:

This is a satin skirt that I got at Macy's a long time ago. On top, I have a black fine knit sweater from White House Black Market.

I wore a black cami under it because the whole neckline is crocheted.

This necklace is a costume piece from Givenchy.

On my left hand, a garnet and citrine ring.

On my left hand, an Italian silver bracelet and a garnet ring from Coleen Lopez.

On November 18th, I wore a tweed skirt from Gucci. On top, a Santana knit blazer from St John and a no-name black satin top.

The horsebit is right where the leather makes that seam.

This costume necklace is from Joan Boyce. The cords are fabric wrapped with gold mesh.

On November 19th, I had jury duty at the Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana.

I wore jogger pants from Old Navy, A Walmart tank and a beaded INC bolero.

The amber necklace is Joan Rivers, and was my mom's.

I made it through without getting selected for the jury. I was in the alternate seat, but the defense used one of their pre-emptory challenges to get rid of me.

The next day, I wore a lurex striped knit skirt from INC, and a cold shoulder top from Express.

My almost matching velvet shoes are from Nine West. The necklace is costume.

It rained that day, and this is what was waiting for me after work.

The next day, November 21, had me dressed like this:

This is a Style and Co skirt with an embellished T shirt. It was cold and overcast that day.

This heavy silver chain was also my mom's.

On my left arm, a mother of pearl ring and a freshwater pearl bracelet. I didn't get a picture of my other arm.

On top, once again, my new St John jacket with the square pewter studs. It's a really nice jacket.

The next day, the 22nd, I wore a handmade linen blend skirt with a Michael Kors top and a Paloma Picasso belt.

The heavy gold chain was also...... my mom's.

On the 25th, I did a little pattern mixing. The striped top is black with lurex stripes and the knit skirt has a floral pattern in the same colors.

I wore the gold chain again, along with a coin from the Vatican.

The 26th was the last day that I had to work before getting 5 days off for Thanksgiving. I wore a tweed dress from St John and my leather boots from Lewitt.

The two necklaces are costume. The longer one is actually a pewter belt from White House Black Market.

And my St John jacket on top !!!

Okay, enough about my outfits. What else has been going on besides jury duty? Well, I bought a little Christmas tree for the first time in many years. It is a miniature Alberta pine and I will plant it in a whiskey half-barrel in the front yard when the holidays are over.

Doc brought me some pretty flowers.

On one Saturday, I heard the noises from a bunch of cars. It turns out that it was the neighbor's turn to have the car club meeting at his house, which is next door to ours.

I took pictures of all the cool cars. The neighbor has an antique Mercedes.

Then, that night, Doc did his special ceremony for Absinthe drinking. We started with a bottle of Mephisto.

The absinthe is then poured over ice.

The chilled absinthe is then poured over sugar cubes.

It is still clear green in color.

Then ice water is prepared and the clear absinthe poured over that.

It then becomes opalescent cloudy green as it crystallizes. It is 130 proof, so water and a flavor like Grenadine are needed.

An absinthe sunrise!!!

I also cooked quite a bit for Thanksgiving dinner. We went over to my in-laws house. My whole family met there. Here is what I made:

This casserole started with smoked sausage over a bed of garlic mashed potatoes.

I then added sauteed mushrooms and stir fry vegetables with sauce.

Then cheddar cheese on top.

Preston's favorite is candied yam casserole. It had yams, pineapple, cinnamon, brown sugar and marshmallows on top.

I made potatoes au gratin on steroids. I used half and half, and added cheddar cheese, bacon, and green onion on top.

I also made green bean casserole with fresh beans, sauteed onion and mushrooms. I added cheddar cheese and french fried onions on top.

And of course, the ever-popular monkey bread.

This is what it looks like after it has finished baking, but before it has been turned over on the plate. There is lots of gooey cinnamon sauce in the pan to spoon on top of the bread. My MIL, Mimi, made a baked ham. There was rhubarb pie and pecan pie for dessert.

The grandkids didn't get their Halloween buckets this year. It was raining. So we brought them over on Thanksgiving.

Here they are, ready to go.

Calista and Joseph.

Benjamin and Preston. They all loved their gifts.

Playing with their new toys kept them busy.

I also got something new - a TV console from Bob's Furniture. It is very nice, especially for the price.

So that's about it for now - it poured rain all day Wednesday and Thursday. It was still cold and cloudy on Friday and Saturday. I went to a few Black Friday sales, and I will show you what I got as I wear it. I also gave away two enormous bags of clothes, books, trinkets, and housewares.

Two parties this coming week - stay tuned for at least the looks that I will wear. Happy Thanksgiving 2019 !!!
