Two Kinds of Waves

So here in Huntington Beach, we are having two kinds of waves - one is a heat wave, and the other is the US Open of Surfing that is held every summer in HB. The first wave means cool summer dresses, and the second wave means that anywhere near downtown HB is crowded to the max!!

There is nothing that I can do about the US Open, but I can wear summer dresses. So, on Tuesday, July 24:

I wore this Indian print cotton dress that I got in Denver about 10 years ago. The paisley print has a lot of colors, and it always gets compliments.

It's hard to see here - I forgot to get a close up and tried to enlarge one of the pix above. But you can sort of see that I wore two silver chains with it.

On July 25th, I wore a knit shift from Mary McFadden. Very vintage.

My Target gladiator sandals were the perfect accent.

Once again, I forgot about Wednesday, but here is Thursday, July 26th.  This is another Taylor dress - that seems to be one of the most common labels in my closet for the summer. They sell this brand at Nordstrom and also at Neiman Marcus and Saks. For winter, the winner is Calvin Klein.

This one is silk, and is turquoise blue and bright coral.

Naturally, I have the perfect necklace. This is a Joan Rivers convertible piece.

I even remembered my arms today. On the left, my yellow gold wedding set and an enamel bangle.

On my right, an Italian gold bracelet, and an enamel ring from Nordstrom.

Friday was July 27th, so I wore a BB Dakota silk dress. I have the same exact dress in the red colorway. It is also my 59.5 birthday, so I can now withdraw from my IRA. Go me !! Getting old !!!

The neckline of these dresses is a bit low, and I am not even well endowed. I always wear a tank or cami underneath. I wore two necklaces, one green and one purple.

On my left arm, two multicolored gemstone bracelets and my Montana peridot ring.

On my right arm, two more multicolored gemstone bracelets and an amethyst ring.

Just for yuks, here is Pandi's ultra gourmet super deluxe grand supreme dinner - Blue Buffalo crunchies, Rachel Ray tiny dog grain free wet food, and a rib bone for dessert.

Yesterday was July 30th. I wore this H&M silk dress that I got in Beverly Hills.

Another convertible necklace from my mom's QVC stash makes an appearance.

On my right arm, a ruby/diamond cluster ring, the Italian gold bracelet, and a ruby bracelet.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding rings and a chain bracelet with a diamond, a ruby, and a sapphire heart charm.

For the last day of July, yet another Taylor dress. This one is a denim type material.

It has a ruffled portrait collar and an empire waist.

Both necklaces were my mom's - one is a silver heart and the other is blue topaz.

On my left arm, an Italian silver bracelet and a white sapphire eternity band from Italo jewelry - that is a brand that heavily markets on Instagram. It has a matching solitaire, but I will probably split them up, because when worn together, they are a lot of ring.

On my right arm, a sapphire/diamond cluster and another Italian silver bracelet.

Well, that's all for another week. Thanks for staying tuned!!

July 2018 Week Numero Tres

I will start off with all of my beautiful outfits this week. First, on Monday :

This Taylor dress is my lone purchase from the Nordstrom sale. I find that they offer lower quality special deals for the sales, and so I wait until they reduce prices on their regular merchandise. But I had a problem with my bill, so I paid in store. Then I saw the dress, so I got it.

It's a nice thick knit, more ottoman than scuba.

On Tuesday, I wore my Ann Taylor cold shoulder top with a slinky skirt that I have had for years, and love.

Wednesday is a blur. So guess what, no pictures and no outfit. But on Thursday,

I wore a Loft striped linen pencil skirt with a rib knit top that has satin sleeves.  I also had a big dinner on Wednesday night, so I have a giant gut.

My Kate and Rosy peplum jacket did a good job of gut concealment.

Nice. Luckily, the gut was only temporary.

On Friday, I went for all out comfort. These are my Gap slacks, with a chiffon top by One World. On top, I wore a chiffon vest thing that is supposed to be a swimsuit cover.

My moonstone statement necklace went for a ride around the block. I also wore my Swarovksi Trema ring, and a bracelet of pearl, larimar, peridot and aurora borealis crystals.

On Saturday, we gave my MIL, Mimi, a lift to the LDS Pioneer Day. Since I was going to spend the day with the Mormons, I went with a suitably conservative shorts outfit.

The orange bermudas are from Joie, and the Incan top is a souvenir that a friend brought me from Macchu Pichu.

Today, I tried something new. I bought this embroidered shift from the Phillipines for my DIL, Kim's bridal shower. She now has a 7 year old, so this thing has been washed a lot. It shrunk in length, to the point that I can no longer sit down in it without showing the good china.

So I wore a black linen pencil skirt underneath, and added a black satin bow at the waist. I like how it turned out.

I wore a long silver herringbone chain and a diamond drop necklace.

On my left arm, a leather/crystal cuff from Baltimore and a crystal ring.

On my right arm, a tricolor bracelet from Italy and a green crystal ring.

My Birchbox came Friday, after I complained that I didn't get one this month. That happened once before. Here's what I got:

 From top to bottom:
1) Laritzy Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Tidal
2) Makeup Drop Silicone Makeup applicator in Micro - for those expensive face creams
3) Dr Jart+ Water Fuse Ultimate Hydro Gel
4) Tocca Cleopatra Eau de PArfum
5) Oribe Matte Waves Texture Lotion - love this brand, but so pricey!!

Last week, I got some booze in the cutest mini Mason jars. I think I will put Qtips in them for my bathroom.

On Sunday, we went to the Orange County Fair.

More shorts, but this time, not so goony.

The first order of business was food at the fairway. After careful deliberation, Doc chose Pink's Hot Dogs.

Most of the food was actually advertised as either natural or organic. Really.

My coworker won the prize for biggest avocado.

Here are my Versace glasses next to it for comparison. They have big frames.

Speaking of giant, there was this giant friendly cow. Everyone was petting and scratching her, and she didn't seem to mind one bit.

This precious newborn calf was in the pen, just chilling. I guess being born is stressful.

And the featured animal, mama sow and the Pig Cam.

The piglet on the right reminds me of Pandi.

And that's about it, until next week. Have a good one !!
