Another Year Older and Deeper in Debt

Well, the year older part is true, but I am actually doing okay as far as debt is concerned. I should be - I turned 61 on January 27th and in your sixties, you should be on easy street. I am spending some cash on upgrading Casa de Holtzman, but that is okay.

Let's go waaayyy back to January 16th. This is what I wore:

This is the beautiful MM LeFleur dress that I picked up in Philadelphia last fall. It is so classy and understated.

On top, I did not go understated - I wore a Bob Mackie Wearable Art jacket - so nice and so cool!!

The next day, I wore my Philosphy de Alberta Ferretti dress - it's so cute . It has a bow tie at the back of the neckline and a deep flounce, and is made of such luxurious material.

The long chain necklace is from Paparazzi Accessories and only cost $1. My friend's daughter sells these.

This jacket is so cool, but pictures do not capture it. There was a boutique called Cache in the area for about 20 years or so, and they had the best items. This jacket was made by Cache and I got it at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop semi-annual sale.

It is thick ponte with crystals all over - so nice. I will show you something that happened as I was wearing this jacket at the end of this post.

On January 21st, I wore a nice polyester dress that I got at Nordstrom. It can go either warm weather or cold weather. So far, I have worn it twice and cold weather style both times.

My over the knee pirate boots are from Lewitt - I got them in London last year. My jacket is St John - I love it and will wear it for years to come.

I went a little punk rock with the black leather studded accessories, but I liked the look.

This next dress is interesting. I wore it inside out a couple of times - the reverse is white with black grid lines. But, this time, I noticed that there was a tag sticking out - I got many compliments when I wore it inside out, so i guess that no one else saw the tag.

I wore it with a red leather jacket, my black leather pearl trimmed sandals, and a Versace belt.

This next outfit was a "Donate or Keep ?" experiment. The skirt is a keeper - it is a subtle plaid with tie dye on top. It also has a zipper front panel, so you can decide how much drape you want over the front.

The turtleneck was the question - I have had it for many years and I didn't know if it was still flattering, but I guess it is, judging by the comments I got. So I will keep it for a while.

The leather jacket is a classic style from Clio and I have had it forever and it still does not disappoint.

The next day, January 23rd, saw me wearing  a present that I got for myself, using gift cards. It is a short sleeved sweater from Fendi. The knit is smooth and similar to the Santana knit.

I wore it with black velvet slacks from Nordstrom.

On top, a classic black boyfriend style blazer from Emmanuel Ungaro.

I really mixed luxury brands in this outfit - Fendi sweater, Ungaro blazer, Louis Vuitton necklace.

On Friday, January 24th, I decided to wear the velvet slacks again, but this time with a vintage blazer that I got at the shop in Burbank that sells clothes used in movie and TV production.

This jacket is the coolest thing ever - it is velvet with jet faceted buttons, and a peach satin collar embroidered with sequins and crystals .

It has to be seen in person to actually appreciate the craftsmanship.

Then we saw a new work week - and my birthday, which we shall also cover. On my actual birthday, January 27th, this is what I wore:

This is a Chanel shift dress in boucle. I wore it with Karl Lagerfeld booties, which I will show in detail in a bit. The pewter necklace is actually a belt from White House Black Market, and I have never worn it as a belt.

The jacket is a great blazer from Escada that has sweater knit sleeves and has been in my closet forever.

On January 28th, I wore another new dress from Dior that I got myself as a holiday reward.

It is a thick fabric that I would not call boucle, but it is textured. It is a shift style, and has front patch pockets.

The uncut corduroy jacket is from a brand called Amber Sun, but I honestly don't know where I got it.

The Dior dress has these circular beads at the neckline, arm holes, pocket tops, and hemline. I didn't know it the beads would bother me when I was sitting down, but they didn't.

The jacket has this ombre pattern down the front - it's very pretty.

Yesterday, January 29th, saw me wearing a really distinctive draped dress from Halston.

It is longer on one side than the other, but that adds to its uniqueness.  The gray booties are Ivanka Trump - I love her clothes and shoes and I am sorry that she will not continue making them.

So now that we have covered the clothes, let's move to the other stuff.  My orange roses continue to flourish - I made an arrangement with these weird red blooms.

I have two Money Trees - they have both been nourished since infancy and are now huge. Last winter, the larger one, Miss Money, lost a lot of leaves. I think it was too cold in the spot she was living in. So I moved her and Baby Money to a spot that gets more indirect light and is warmer.

They seem to be flourishing - I have a UV light for them and will watch them. My Ipsy bag came:

I like the faux marble pattern. Here is what was inside, from top to bottom:

1) OFRA Cosmetics x Nikkie  Tutorials Glow Goals Highlighter
2) PUR 4in1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Broad Spectrum in Golden Medium
3) BellaPierre Cosmetics Mineral Lipstick in Ruby
4) Aromatica Tea Tree Balancing Foaming Cleanser
5) Hempz Original Herbal Body Mositurizer

Remember, before I was telling you that something weird happened when I was wearing the Cache ponte jacket with crystals? I was feeding Pandi, and I saw her engulfed in disco lights - the crystals from the jacket made a disco ball effect on the Pan :

Jungle Boogie !!

We have a nice squirrel living in our fruit trees. Doc has named her Myrna. She comes by on a regular basis to eat guavas, figs and tangerines. The boys like to jump at her and pester her.

She is on the wall - see her?

The boys cannot get to her, so they seem to have an unspoken agreement about their existence.

We also get the biggest grasshoppers I have ever seen. They are super beautiful and I am glad that they come to visit.

We have a grocery store called Grocery Outlet - I love to get the weekly specials. This week, it was Fish and Chips.

It was delicious - $3.99 for 2 big pieces of cod and chips. Doc was extremely happy.

So, onto my birthday Karl Lagerfeld boots - so nice and so comfy.

I also got these silver and black geode earrings.

And as an afterthought, I saw these Sole Society booties, and since they were a steal, I got them.

This is the poster that my co-workers made for my birthday - I love it !!!

And Doc got me the biggest bouquet of Stargazer lilies that I have ever seen !!

So that's about all - I will update you as things happen, but my life is a bit dull ( and I like it that way) so we shall see.

Bye for now !!!
