When You Dread Something

A couple of weeks ago, I told you about my friend/boss and his wife who were murdered by their son. More details have come out. The son was mentally ill, and combined with drug abuse and steroid use, resulted in the worst outcome possible. The details were horrific, so I will keep those private out of respect and fondness for that wonderful couple. The celebration of life was last Saturday. I attended with my friend, Mary. The one good thing is that I got to reconnect with a lot of people with whom I had lost contact. Here is the program:

As are all LDS services, this one was beautiful and as uplifting as possible. The soloists had incredible talent, and the speeches were touching and focused on the central belief of their faith - the deceased are in paradise with Heavenly Father, and everyone will be reunited at the second coming. My friend had never been to an LDS service and was amazed at the talent and beauty of the service. Then we went to the Rusty Pelican in Newport Beach and had lunch and partied - Rick would have been right in the middle of that, if he could have been.

On a more positive note, Pandi got a new bucket for her toys. They are everywhere, and some of them are shall we say, fragrant.

She wasn't sure about this at first, and began to roll and mark her new set up.
.

Then she eyed it for quite a while.

Finally, acceptance!!!

So let's look at my three outfits for the week. On Monday:

I wore a skirt from Dress Barn with an Adrienne Vittadini top and my BCBG boots.

For jewelry, a lapis self-made necklace., a gold herringbone necklace, and sapphire bracelets.

On Tuesday, I wore an autumn themed getup. I wore brown dress slacks, a copper satin top, and an olive raw silk embroidered blouse.

Here are the details. I wore my mom's Joan Rivers amber double strand necklace with the citrine drop pendant.

On Wednesday, it was raining again. I wore an old favorite INC dress - it needs no ironing, is comfy and always looks nice. Plus, it is in my favorite color combo - black and gold.

The dress has bronze studs all along the surplice bodice, the kimono sleeves, and the hem. I wore a custom made black coral necklace and my BCBG boots again.

Here they are - black suede with gold studded straps and buckles.

We have had gobs of rain this year, after five or more years of drought. Look at my front porch.

This has been done with very little effort on my part. My driveway is cracking, however.

Yesterday, I made a great lunch - crab cakes, asparagus, carrots, rice and paneer masala veggies.

I also got a 25% off coupon for Goodwill, so I caved. I got two jackets . This one is from a brand called Sunny Name, and it looks like a bespoke Asian brand, due to the tailoring.

Then I got a white jacket from Theory. It is a stiff twill type material, and also has great dressmaker details.

I like both purchases. I do believe that the Marie Kondo trend has increased the amount of nice items in the thrifts, but I personally find her too twee and annoying. I must say, she did inspire me to declutter - a lot. As they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure!!!
