Among the Flora and Fauna

On Saturday, I did my usual run through HB Central Park. While there, I was able to see how the little coot family is doing.

Getting bigger and losing their fuzzy little pinfeathers. Then, my neighbor Susan came over and gave me a jacket that her MIL got her. Susan works in her husband's racing shop, so she wears jeans and such. So she offered it to me, and I snagged it!!!

It's a snowy white boucle jacket made by Graff. It has black stitching around the neckline and flap pockets.

Here's a better look at the fabric and the stitching.

On Sunday, we went to a picnic in a local park. I have been running around this park for many years, but I stick to the perimeter. It's called Mile Square Park, and it's a mile each side, making 4 miles for an entire lap. I never went into the interior.

There is an attraction called Palm Island. In the middle of several ponds, there is a gazebo on an island that you cross a few bridges to get to.

Here are some views from the gazebo, looking out in various directions.

There were a couple of people fishing, and lots of picnickers. Lots of runners and walkers as well. On the way out, we met this fine fat fellow.

A Canadian goose !!! He was pretty friendly - people = food in goose-ese.

So now it's back to work. Here's what I am wearing.I have to drive across town for a meeting at the Orange County Public Health offices in Santa Ana.

A nice, comfy NY and Company blouse, with white Worthington slacks. I wore my Cookie Lee silver and abalone necklace.

I carried my Neiman Marcus teal suede bag. I should have used my mint/aqua one that I got at the fair, but I didn't think about it. I wore Dolce Vita suede cutout sandal/booties.

On my left arm, a wedding set and a silver/crystal costume bracelet.

On my right, a seraphinite bracelet from Southwest Indian Foundation and a blue topaz ring.

So let's get to linking!!! First, Rachelle at www.pinksole.com has How I Summer. Then, Deb from www.elegantlyfashionable.com has Classy Monday. Next, two new finds!!! The Tenth Commandment

It says, more or less, that you shall not covet thy neighbor's goods. Well, Doc was coveting one of my goods - the key holder by the back door.

He wanted one just like it for the home office. So I did him one better - I transposed it to his office.

And thar she blows!!! Well, that left me with no where to hang my keys and note pads at the back door. So I bought a couple of things at Hobby Lobby to fill the void (and cover the holes left by the screws).

A metal plaque with a sweet romantic saying on it for me and Doc.

A key shaped iron key holder.

A metal mesh basket to hold the note pads and pens.

So how does it look now? Pretty good, if I do say so myself.

It's good to share - now everyone is happy. There was a piece on the news today about "porch thieves". These are people who pretend to be handing out fliers and instead, steal packages from porches. I shop on line a lot, because it's faster and easier, and shipping is usually free. So I was expecting one more box from Saks. It arrived, so now there will be nothing to steal from my porch.

Saks was having a pre-season boot sale, and I needed some plain black boots. The pair I have is ruined . I have already had them repaired once.

These are black suede with a 4 inch heel and some nice gold detailing on the heel. I like them.
So onto today. It's still hotter than heaven, so I am wearing the closest thing to a muumuu as I can.

I hate this outfit. The Ann Taylor dress gets all wrinkly, and the Banana Republic belt is all wrong. Oh well, can't win them all. I'll just wear my exam jacket when I leave my office. I wore my favorite weird green resin necklace with this disaster.

On my right arm, I am wearing a green cloisonne bracelet and a cool ring that I got at Nordstrom.

On my left arm, an INC costume stretchy cuff and my malachite ring.

I wore my Via Spiga green witch shoes and carried the same Neiman Marcus bag as yesterday.

Yesterday, when Doc was leaving for work, Elli kept hovering by his bag and laptop.

In this next picture, she looks exactly like a gargoyle.

So let's link this horrid mess of a dress to some of my blogging buddies. Dawn Lucy at www.fashionshouldbefun.com has Fun Fashion Friday. Then, Christie at www.theclosetbychristie.com has Friday Favorites. Lastly, Lauren at www.stylelixir.com has Fab Favorites. Sheesh - this dress is not fun, fab, or a favorite. It's getting donated. Have a great weekend, and I'll see you all later!!!

The Heat Is On !!!

It was really hot yesterday, and I had to wear a suit for two important meetings. I was, shall we say, damp by the time I got home. I didn't want to do anything - very unusual for me - so I just crashed on the sofa and read.

So today, it's supposed to be even hotter, and my entire motive for my outfit is to stay cool.

So I reached into my closet and brought out this Valerie Stevens linen tank and a skirt I made when we still lived in San Diego. I moved to Huntington Beach in 1990, so do the math. Oldie but definitely goodie. Here's a better look at the embellishment on the tank - tonal embroidery and sequins.

My selfie stick abilities are improving, but let's get an even closer look at the top.

You can see it here in this shot of my Spiegel belt that I bought when I made the skirt. Gotta love the pedometer. I wore a Liz Claiborne costume necklace in various blue and green tones.

On my left arm, my crystal and bead bracelet from Saks, and my Swarovski Nirvana in Indolite.

On my right arm, an enamel bracelet from Charming Charlie and a malachite ring.

I carried a teal suede bag from Neiman Marcus and wore bronze shoes from BCBG Girls.

I think I repeated every color in the skirt with all these accessories. I tried to.

So the boys (Kenni and Vinni) received the breakfast of champions today.

They got crunchy food, chicken broth, chicken meat, and a half donut for dessert. With sprinkles.

Doc also brought home some carnations for me. He was very serious when he told me that the flowers from last week were dead. :)

After today, I will be all caught up with linking to my blogging buddies. First, Alice at www.happinessatmidlife.com has Throwback Thursday - hello old skirt. Then, Tara at www.mixmatchfashion.com has Summer Style - hello heat wave. Then, Lindsey at www.thepleatedpoppy.com has What I Wore - hello outfit. And last, Nicole at www.highlatitudestyle.com has Top of The World Style - and Top O' the Mornin' to you all!!!

Suited Up For Action

I didn't post yesterday, because nothing happened. I went to work, worked out and then went to sleep. But I did take the opportunity to wear my Yves St Laurent jacket again.

I wore it the exact same way as last time, only with a different necklace.

On my left hand, I wore only my wedding rings.

On my right hand, my matching white enamel/crystal bracelet and ring set from Saks,

And, my Payless gold wedge sandals, since my pants are really long.

Today is a whole different story. I have two important meetings today - one of which I am chair and conductor, and one which I am very nervous about. So I got all dolled up in one of my most professional and conservative suits.

This is a Gucci skirt with a Kasper jacket. The jacket has a subtle sheen to the pinstripes.

The skirt is pencil style, with a thin leather strip and the signature horsebit for as trim.

I wore two necklaces. The longer one is my Joan Rivers convertible piece and the shorter one is a pearl solitaire.

On my left arm, my wedding set and a diamond tennis bracelet.

On my right arm, a diamond/emerald ring and two gold/diamond dust bracelets.

I wore my Sesto Meucci black suede pumps with the red organza rose, and carried my Cartier Panthere purse.

I am doing a ton of linking, since I bailed on my blogger friends yesterday. So, if you have time, check out all these lovely ladies.
