Bienvenidos to mi Poquita Princesa de Pandaria

I had a very hard time saying goodbye to my precious Elli. I missed having her around to be my companion. So I started looking for someone else who needs a place to live. And I found her right away !!

This little sweetheart is a five year old Chihuahua/terrier mix. She was named Lizzie by the shelter, but didn't answer to that name, so we were free to change it. Introducing

                                         Pandora Elizabeth (Pandi) Holtzman

There are lots of black and white dogs named Panda, so I gave it a twist. I saw her on line and then went to visit her at the SPCA Shelter in Long Beach, Ca. I was expecting the worst, since she had been at the no-kill shelter since February 16. I was envisioning a dog with one eye, or seizures, or mean, or constantly yapping. But she was gentle, docile and sweet. So I paid $155 for her, which includes spaying, vaccinations, two vet visits, microchipping and a collar, leash and bandana. I asked why she had been there for so long. The worker told me that she had shown Pandi many times, but in the end, nobody wanted a 5 year old dog. That's exactly what I wanted. So I guess it was divine intervention.

They took Pandi to the animal hospital in Los Alamitos (nearby) for spaying on Sunday. I picked her up last night.

She despised the cone of shame, so I took it off after we got home, since I would be watching her closely all night. She didn't even try to go near her wound, which is quite small. I have been giving her the pain meds like instructed. That will go on for 3 days.

First, she laid on the blanket I put down for her and used the pee pad.

Then she cruised by the French doors, where the boys were going nuts. I will keep her away until her recheck and then introduce her during our nightly walks. She will be living inside with us, just like Elli did.

She is very affectionate and follows me around . I need to get bells for her collar, because she is silent. I haven't heard her bark yet. Elli rarely barked, also.

She continued to check out the new digs.

Then she decided that her favorite spot would be the basket where I keep my dumbells to work out with.

She stayed there for a while, then we took her on a walk, then she just hung out with us. She ended up burrowing under a comforter on the floor to sleep. This morning, I fed her and kissed her goodbye for the day.

I'll see her again tonight. I already adore her. I am so glad she is so sweet and mellow. I hope she enjoys a long and happy life with us here at Casa de Holtzman.
