Happy Birthday to Doc!

Doc turned 68 on October 28th. For his birthday, he wanted to go to Savers to look at books on the way down to the coast. My birthday present to him was Jen, our Tesla. I also got fish and chips for his lunch and gave him some money for a medical journal subscription. It was a warm and sunny day, so this is what I wore:

Knit joggers are from Rachel Zoe and the jersey knit top is INC. My sneakers are from Temu.

Here we are down at the Balboa Pier. We walked along the boardwalk.

This is the pier and the lifeguard station.

Here I am, doing 6 and 8 with my fingers.

We passed the famous Doryman's Inn.

Here is Doc posing in front of Charlie's Chili, another one of his favorite restaurants.

This is the Dory Fishing Fleet building, where the fisherman sell their fresh catch, usually very early in the morning.

One last look at the oceanfront boardwalk. Most of the houses are short term rentals.

Mr. Hooper came to visit! He is huge and beautiful.

When we were at Savers, I got another cherry pie recipe pie plate. Here are my four cherry plates:

And three apple pie plates.

Four pumpkin pie - I think these are the prettiest.

I also have pecan pie, quiche lorraine, strawberry pie, pumpkin loaf, and German chocolate cake.

Back to some daily shenanigans. On October 10th, I went to the bank to renew a CD. I wore wool striped slacks from Ideology and the sweater that I got at last month's Army sale. It's from Voice of Voices.

My October Ipsy bag came. Inside, from left to right:

1) First Aid Beauty Hydrating Dewy Gel Cream

2) Morphe Micro Brow Pencil

3) BCBG Fragrances Essence de Vanille

4) Glowcore Mystic Earth Eyeshadow Palette

5) Shaina B Miami el Eyeliner in Black Card

6) Ashunta Sheriff Beauty BlurEFX Foundation in Honey Glow

On October 16th, I had lunch with my friend Mary at the hospital. I also visited my old coworkers. I wore an embroidered corduroy skirt from Betsy Johnson with a Zara sweater and Mootsies brown suede boots. I wore my pearl and tiger eye jewelry with this.

My October Birchbox came. Inside, from top to bottom:

1) The Change Maker Multi-tasking Glacial Clay and aloe Mask+Polish+Wash

2) Buxom Plump Shot Peptide Lip serum

3) Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover

4) Goldfadden MD Detox Clarifying Facial Wash

5) Percy Reed London Up Up and Away Root Lift Mousse

Mary gave me three huge crystals. Two are quartz and one is obsidian. Quarts is good for general good vibes and good luck. Obsidian gives protection, truth, reflection, grounding and transformation. I purified them with Kosher salt for three days.

On October 20th, I met another friend at South Coast Plaza for lunch. I wore ivory slacks from White House Black Market, a long sleeve T from Vince, and a boucle and lurex blazer from Spiegel. My shoes are Lily Et Cie, and I am wearing the snake buckle belt from Eco Town.

They had this weird display of a collaboration between Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, and Moncler, who makes down coats for frigid climates. It was three stories tall and had videos of the actors talking about their coats. Very odd.

On October 23rd, we went to the Farmers' Market to get fruits and veggies. I wore black ponte pants from Express, a fuchsia top from Joseph A and a cardigan by Tog Shop.

On October 24th, the Salvation Army had another $2 sale. I think they are doing them monthly because they get so much stock. I wore Levi's jeans embellished with leopard cuffs, and a studded sweater by Express. My gold trim Mary Janes are from INC.

I got Doc two long sleeve T shirts, retail $18.99, from George.

Also a henley shirt from George, retail $12.98

And a henley from Land's End, retail $24.97

Last, a thermal T shirt from Member's Mark retail $10.98

For myself, a dupe of a Christian Dior bag, retail unknown

Some Marc Fisher suede espadrilles to replace the ones I ruined on vacation, retail $100

These platform loafers, from Cole Haan, retail around $188.

A black waffle knit cardigan with gold trim and buttons, from Paris Fashion retail $129

A really well made henley sweater with a quarter zip and snaps, from Smartwool retail $220

A studded sweater from Dress Barn, retail $99.95

The find of the day - a silk top from Ulla Johnson, retail $675

And a pleated skirt from Vera Wang that matches, retail $50

These half-slips are hard to find, retail $20 from Vanity Fair

I paid $55 and got $1482 worth of stuff, not including the purse.

On October 26th, I wore the black sweater with a lurex tank from St John and some very old black slacks. We went to Stater Brothers for dog food.

On October 29th, we took my father-in-law shopping at Costco. I wore printed slacks from Cache, an embellished T shirt from Kenneth Cole, and a lace trimmed cardigan from Old Navy.

On Friday, October 31st, I went out to get candy in case any kids showed up. None did. I wore plaid slacks from The Limited and a chiffon top from Joseph A.

I went to Carr Park to commune with the beautiful birds. I saw white pelicans.

One little snowy egret.

Lots of Canada geese. They aren't shy - one came right up to me.

And hundreds of ibis!

On November 3rd, I got my blood drawn. I wore checked slacks from Theo Miles, a knit military style top from J Jill, and a boucle trimmed blazer from Nipon Boutique.

On Tuesday, November 4th, Doc took his parents to their primary care doctor. I went to Ulta to get some stuff I regularly use during their big sale. On the way home, I saw a homemade sign that said "Thrift Store" so of course I popped in. Everything in there was a small or extra small. The ladies running it said that their maiden aunt had lived in Laguna Beach and died. They were going to have an estate sale, but the house sold too quickly, so they rented this vacant little store to sell all their aunt's nice stuff.

I got a belt from Carlisle, retail $118

And a lambskin blazer from Denim and Co, retail $338

And Calvin Klein joggers, retail $90.

I paid $22 and scored $546 worth of stuff.

I wore brown slacks from Tracy Feith, a merino wool sweater from Banana Republic, and an organza blouse from Macy's.

For today's sunny dog walk, I wore Lee jeans, an Alberta Ferretti blouse, and an Ie tank.

What's the latest with our local bird friends? Check out these shots of a beautiful red-tailed hawk that has been hanging out near us.

So that's about all for now - Thanksgiving is rolling up and then the holiday season. So stay tuned!
