Happy Haul A Day !!

See what I did there?  Such wit. Anyhow, I have not shopped since the Great Clean Out of Labor Day, except for one pair of shoes from Nordstrom and a trip to the swap meet.  Now I actually wear most of my giant collection. But a girl will be a girl, and I am tired of spending all my dough on my house, so I went trippin' after Christmas. Most of it was consignment, so not a huge footprint on the environment. Away we go !!!

The first two items are from Stein Mart. First up is a dark floral shift dress from Philosophy. It ended up to be about $30 after all the discounts.

Then I got a Peck and Peck cold shoulder T shirt. I already have the black short sleeve version and this was only $5.

This one has long angel sleeves. I will probably use this as a summer statement piece.

That was December 26th. On the 27th, I went to two consignment shops that weren't open on the 26th. The first was Working Wardrobes, where I got 4 items. They were having a 50% off sale, so all 4 cost $13. First up, A Target skirt:

It came with a really cheap looking patent belt that I am going to use to fix a nice belt that I have. The print is black, mauve, mustard and grey.

I am a sucker for Vegas style sweaters. You can't get much more Vegas than this Belldini sweater.

The zipper and pull are laden with clear crystals.

Then I got a mint long sleeve ribbed undershirt type T shirt.

It has lace epaulets and is made by Col Story.  It's a very pretty color.

I also got this INC stretch mesh embroidered tank. It will go with many things. All the white is heavy embroidery.

Before I pooped out, I went to the Assistance League. I think it may be an LDS shop, because I saw the Deseret Industries truck outside.  They always have nice items, just like the American Cancer Discovery Shops. I found two things there.

The first was this chiffon butterfly vest with black piping. I wasn't going to get it because it was all tangled up. But the line was long, so I amused myself by straightening it out.

For a dollar, I will give it a go.

The big score was this Rebecca Taylor dress, at $4. There was a lady behind me who insisted that it was a child's dress, even to the cashier.  It's not, of course.

Here's the back. It's a mix of navy and black stretchy fabric, with the black being more like mesh.

And that is my final haul for a while - maybe until Memorial Day, if I behave.

Jolly Holiday Recap

The parties and stuffing ourselves silly has ended - at least for a couple of days. We went over to the Holtzmans, my in-laws, to celebrate On Christmas Eve.

This picture is from last year - note that the new bookcase is not on the right. But I repeated this comfy glittery outfit, made of a long lurex cardi and some black knit pants.

The Holtzman table was all set for the dinner. The tablecloth was my mom's.

I made a hot cheese dip that was Swiss cheese, mayo, sour cream, cream cheese and onion. Amazingly, the grandkids LOVED it. I was not a cheese eater as a kid - too pungent. But they adored it. Here is Joseph having his dinner at the kids table.

Then it was gift time.

We wrapped some of the gifts in Star Wars paper. Benjy made sure that we knew that he loves Star Wars.

On Christmas Day, we went to my brother's house and had dinner with Karin's family. I wore my Rachel Roy skater dress and good old BCBG boots.

Book case present.

On top, my vintage brocade jacket with faux fur cuffs by Lawrence.

I wore three necklaces. The top two were sapphire and diamond.

The longest one was my LV padlock.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set, a diamond tennis bracelet, and a sapphire bracelet.

On my right arm, two more sapphire bracelets.

We played a dice game called LRC. You needed 3 dollars to play. I had extra, so I provided some to the kids.

We brought a nicely wrapped bottle of ......

Rompope !!! It's a Mexican eggnog style drink.

We got a lot of cookies, candy, etc as gifts, so I repurposed some of them for a hostess gift.

Gotta love the beer nuts.

So yesterday, I was all set to hit a few stores - mainly my favorite consignment shop. But it CLOSED !!!! All of the good ones around here have finished doing business. Wah. But I did go to Pet Smart. I had ordered flea medicine and had to pick it up. They had these giant rawhide bones for $2.97. They were originally $16.99. I got two, for Kenni and Vinni. I figured they would make good flea medicine bribery items.

Poor little Pandi has been stuffed into Elli's old clothes since it got chilly, so a couple of weeks. She desperately needed some that actually fit her.

Here is the first one - jailbird stripes with a leather/crystal flower.

Here are the other two. They were also $2.97, down from $16.99. She seems much more comfy. I told Doc that it must have been like wearing a corset - I should know, right?

Although appreciative, she got bored after a while.

So did I, so I had Doc unwrap the ladder (my gift from him) and pull it up to 9 feet.

American Gothic in Huntington Beach. Or A Boy and His Ladder.

Of course, I climbed on it and did some rudimentary gymnastics.

It's a nice ladder. I will be using it on Friday, when I wash some of the higher windows outside.

Anyway, today I am going to replace the wallpaper border around the master bedroom, and then try to do a little shopping. I have to go to the bank, and then I am going to try the last consignment shop on my dwindling list. Until then.....

The Eve of the Eve

Because our family have their own families, we usually get to go to several parties. The first one was yesterday and was very casual, because that's how Luke, Ashley and Preston roll. But first, let's take a peek at the outfit I wore on Wednesday. I am furloughed for 6 days, but I already had to handle 7 phone calls on Thursday. So I will hash that out on time card day. Anyway......

I wore a very old pair of grey plaid trousers shot through with silver lurex. They are from ID, which used to be a Macy's brand. On top, a grey henley from INC. It has crystal buttons, but that didn't matter, because...

I wore a cozy handmade mohair poncho over it. It is ivory and pale lavender. I never wear it, but today it got the call.

Here's a better look at the detail on the poncho and my lovely chicken neck.

I yanked the poncho up to show my necklaces. I never took the poncho off so you guys are the only ones who saw them. One is amethyst and one is silver herringbone.

On my left arm, a thick silver bracelet, an infinity band and a round solitaire.

On my left arm, a tanzanite ring and bracelet, to match the lavender in the poncho.

My MIL, Mimi, had a dog named Bella. We had to put her down last April. I saved her collar and hid it for this purpose - a shadow box.

We got it at Hobby Lobby. I pinned Bella's collar onto it, and then we went to Fed Ex and a nice man named Mark helped us print out a picture of a black lab. I wrote the slogan. It says "Did you know that Bella means beautiful?" Mimi can add other things to the box if she wants.

Today, we have a party with my in-laws, and Nathan and Kim and their kids.

Here are the gifts, all wrapped and ready to go.

Here is my gift from Preston - a compact mirror. He also got Pandi a can of Blue Buffalo Santa Stew.

She also got a pink squeaky monkey, which she loved.

And, as you know, I got Doc a bookcase. Here is what I requested for myself.

A telescoping ladder!!! Yay !!!
