Happy Nurse's Week

Last week was Nurse's Week, and since I work in a hospital, there were a lot of activities planned for all of the staff. On Thursday, we had "Friends of Nurses Day", where the nursing staff thanked the ancillary departments, and I am one of those.

People wrote nice things about me.

On Friday, May 3, we had a guest lecturer - Ann Tardy (in the middle), who lectured us on how to be a better boss and a remarkable human being.

I have four outfits to show you.

I wore these jeans and T shirt on the weekend -April 27th. For the last few years, I have been wearing yoga pants because they are so comfy, so my jeans have gone ignored.

These black Levis have a leopard border. This is the patch on my T shirt.

On Monday, April 29, I wore a skirt from Loft that has also gone ignored. I wore it with a suede top from See by Shelli Segal and a ruffly tank stop.

Here's a better look at the elaborate embroidery on the hemline.

On Tuesday, April 30th, we had a breakfast buffet for the nurses. I served the sausage.

This two piece knit outfit has no other label except "Made in France". So it will remain a mystery.

My belt is from Paloma Picasso and my chain mail necklace is from Avon, and heralds from the 80s.

Also from the late 80s is this fish print dress that I made myself.

It is a full wrap skirt with ruching and a side tie. When I saw the fabric, I was hooked. Har.

My black coral necklace is perfect for this under the sea look.

I also got new shoes. Every day, I eat lunch at my desk and then go for a 40 minute walk on my break. I got these comfy creepers on deep discount.

Here are the shoes they replaced. Gotta love the hillbilly toe.

I did a bit of cooking this weekend. On Saturday, I made Mediterranean Pork from the Good Housekeeping cookbook. It was delicious.

On Sunday, we had taco bar, spanish rice and beans, in honor of Cinco de Mayo.

When I wake up, my hair is sometimes unbelievable. On Sunday morning, it was so bad that it needed to be commemorated.

After brushing it, we went down to the local shooting range to practice.

The big torso is our target.

Here are Doc's hands as he takes aim. He is quite a marksman.

My first try was not so good. This black target is in the center of the torso, as you can see above.

My second try was much better.

Here is the back of my target when I was done. I managed to cluster most of my shots in the center of the black target.

We shot a 9mm Glock 19, which is what I own for home defense.

I got a couple of new things for the house. First, a pink gerbera daisy that I saw while I was grocery shopping.

I also got some fairy lights from Ebay. I planted some African daisies and wound the lights around a trellis.

They are solar powered, so they light up at night.

My obsession with creating floral arrangements from the yard continues. I do them on Friday night. From April 26th, we have

Red gerberas with baby breath.

Salmon roses with English lavender, baby breath and purple stock.

Orange roses with basket flowers and baby breath.

On May 3rd, I made some more. This time, the orange roses were tiny buds.

Look how nicely they opened by May 6th.

And two more arrangements of salmon roses, English Lavender and purple stock - one for the living room and one for Doc's bathroom.

Today is May 7th, and this is what I am wearing.

The sharkskin slacks are from Sun Moon Stars, the chiffon blouse is from Walter, and the sweater is from Lux.

Here's a better look.

Well, that's all for now, but stay tuned for some more fun and games.
