The Heat is On!!!

You only need air conditioning about twice a year in Huntington Beach. Well, those two days were both this weekend. It got into the 90s at the beach. Palm Springs was 115. So we tried to stay cool by staying indoors, hanging out in the pool, and exercising early. And a trip to the nice air conditioned mall doesn't hurt, either.

Now, back to that exercising. I am a long time runner, and am very particular when it comes to my shoes. I will only wear Asics shoes. I knew that I needed a new pair, and they run around $100, even on sale. I get daily emails from Saks and Neiman Marcus, and have gotten some really good deals. But imagine my surprise when Saks had Asics shoes for $39 and $49 a pair, Plus, I had a 35% coupon for loyal suckers, I mean customers. So I found the pair I wanted for $49.

I was stoked. Then the box came in the mail.

Crap. I thought that I had mistakenly ordered an 8, when I wear an 8.5. But it turns out that they were 8.5, only there was no corresponding box. In order to make up for this horrendous error, (jus' kiddin') they sent me a nice dust bag and a coupon for 15% off my next purchase.

I sent them an email thanking them for this wonderful customer service touch. Now I do not keep my running shoes in a dust bag, so I used it for a different pair.

This happened Friday. On Saturday, I took them for their maiden voyage through HB Central Park. That's my go-to run on Saturday and sometimes Sunday. Then I came home, cleaned up, and we went to visit my mom. Since she is 95, we just stayed at her apartment and played board games. It was too hot for her to go outside. And there are wildfires everywhere, so the air quality is not that great.

On Saturday night, I prepared a couple of dishes for Sunday. First, I made another casserole, since Doc loved the other one so much. First, I mixed chicken and egg noodles.

Then, I made the sauce on the stovetop.

I also sauteed portobello mushrooms and onions. Then I poured the sauce on top of the chicken.

I baked it and then added french fried onions and cheddar cheese, and browned that.

All of this food came from one of Doc's patients who owns a grocery store. He always brings Doc a load of food.  He also brought us four loaves of bread. One was Orowheat Old Fashioned Buttermilk. So I used that one to make old fashioned bread pudding.

A little butter and milk and cinnamon and eggs and sugar later..............................Yum.

You can see that we liked it, especially with fresh whipped cream on top.

After that, we just kicked back and watched TV. It was still in the 80s at night. In the morning, I got up and went for a nice bike ride. I started out going through another neighborhood park, Courreges Park. It's pronounced like courageous.

It's about 4 miles long, each way. It was surprisingly still green. Since it was so early (about 8 am on a Sunday) there were lots of joggers out on the path. The bike trail goes all the way down to another park, called Harper Park.

There is another playground and a nice picnic area at Harper Park.

I was gone about an hour and a half. Then we spent some time in the pool. Kenni wanted to get on the King Kool so bad, but his nails would pop it and he would sink like a rock since he is so fat.

See him there in the corner? When he had his face up next to mine, I took a good look at his face. He is absolutely gorgeous. His fur is so beautiful and shiny, and his face is so pretty, with his amber eyes. Such a handsome, if somewhat wacky, boy.

An hour in the pool was enough for us. Doc wanted to watch more TV, but I went to South Coast Plaza to shop indoors. I had a coupon, and I will show you the spoils later this week when I run out of material for my blog.

Let's get to what I am wearing today. It's still very hot, but down by five or so degrees. Tomorrow, it will be back down to the low 80s, which is normal.

I am wearing a mesh double ruffled skirt by Clio, and a pale blue T from Old Navy. Here's a better look at the skirt hem.

It's printed like Chantilly lace, in tones of blue, aqua, purple, and lavender. With it, I carried my new blue/mint purse, and wore some reptile sandals from Worthington.

I also wore my moonstone statement necklace.

I used my Gucci horsebit belt to give the T some shape.

On my right arm, a lavender costume bracelet and a tanzanite ring.

On my left arm, a matching quartz ring and bracelet set. I haven't worn these in a long time.

And that's about it, except for some linking. First, Melissa at www.mahogany-closet.com for Mahogany Closet Mondays. Then, Deb at www.elegantlyfashionable.com has Classy Monday. And last, Michelle at www.michellespaige.com has Start the Week Style, with the theme being Brights. She is new to me (all these sweet gals are pretty new to me), so I am looking forward to doing some blog hopping later on tonight. Have a great Monday and keep your cool, if you can !!!!
