Working ON the Weekend

I work Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 4:00, something that is a little unusual in a hospital environment. But that's how my career has evolved. Consequently, if I do any work on the weekends, it's done for my home, my family, or my dearest pets. This weekend, I did a lot of varied things. One of the most painful was the triennial garage cleaning. Doc wants to make a move closer to the beach - we were planning that, but he wants to speed up the schedule. So I had to clean the garage, since 90% of the crap out there is mine.

After doing a bunch on Friday evening, we went out to lunch on Saturday, to "celebrate". I also got in a nice long run through the park, while it was sprinkling. Here's what I wore:

These Bermuda shorts are by Bebe, and the sweater top is Cable and Gauge. I also wore black thong sandals by DexFlex. We went to a Vietnamese Pho restaurant.

When you go for pho, which is noodle soup, they give you a plate of limes, bean sprouts and some kind of leafy herb, that I think may be mint. Your pho comes hot, and you add as little or as much of the extras as you want.

Here's what Doc got - vermicelli pho with barbequed pork and an egg roll. You can get large or small, and this is a large.

Here's what I got - pho with steak and gristle. Gristle is just the chewy ends of the meat. They are always surprised when I order it, because I guess that not very many Caucasian grannies order the gristle, but I like it.

Then we went to visit my mom. She is 95 and has been feeling very tired for the last few months - not a good sign. But her doctors say she is as good as can be expected for 95. So we took Elli with us and sat and visited. Now for the funny part - look at these two pictures. One is my top inside out and one is right side out. I had been wearing it inside out all day, and nobody noticed. We even ran into one of my girlfriends at Toys R Us, and she didn't know.

At Toys R Us, we got Preston a birthday gift - he will be 6, and his party is next weekend. We got him a big remote control helicopter. We wanted a drone with a camera, but they don't make those in the US yet. My girlfriend got her grandkids one from Japan.

When we got home, my Birchbox was waiting. So was my illegal 4% hydroquinone cream.

Here's what was in my Birchbox.
1) Comptoir Sud Pacifiue Coco Extreme perfume - the description on the package was hilarious. English was not their first language.
2) Harvey Prince Hello Body Cream. A best selling citrus scent.
3) La Mav Green Clay Detox Mask.
4) Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner - it looks to be a light blue color. I'm not sure that this will work for someone my age, but I do have blue eyes, so I'll give it a try.
5) Paula's choice Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer with Retinol. So many different skin creams exist that it makes me dizzy. But I will never have to actually purchase any, since I get so many freebies.
6) Sarahpotempa Darby Clip - a nice hairstylist type clip to hold back sections of hair as you style it. I can always use this.

Then I did some laundry - this collection is all Elli's laundry - walked the dogs and then I read my latest book by Ann Rule. She is my favorite crime writer. Now we are going out for halal Chinese food. Halal is similar to Muslims as Kosher is to Jews. That's how I understand it, anyway. We are going to Lotus. We are going to walk over there.

Here is the interior. It's not very fancy, but the food is fresh, wholesome, and delicious.

We started with egg drop soup.

Then we had lamb lo mein. We usually get it with hand cut soft noodles, but they weren't available for some reason, so we got regular soft noodles. It was still yummy.

We also got Szechuan eggplant, but it was so delicious looking that we dove in, and I didn't realize that I didn't get a picture until it was too late. Trust me.

I finished cleaning the garage after the Cavs/Warriors game last night. What a chore, but also what a sense of accomplishment. So I wore something comfy and easy to reward myself.

This polyester top is from Elle. It's shaped like a scrub top. With it, I wore a navy INC skirt and carried my Urban Originals purse from Neiman Marcus.  Since the top is fuchsia, green and navy, I went with green and blue necklaces.

The shorter one is emerald and the longer one is sapphire. On my left hand

Two sapphire bracelets, and my wedding set. On my right hand,

Two more sapphire bracelets and a matching ring. I took my navy and black sandals out for what might be one of their last spins, since they are getting a bit worn.

I have an evening dinner meeting tonight, (after working 8 hours) so my main concern for the day was comfort. The fact that I think this outfit is cute is a bonus.

So let's do the Monday links. Cherie from www.stylenudge.com is hosting Shoe and Tell, and my soon to be retired shoes should get their last day in the sun. Then, Rachelle at www.pinksole.com is having How I Spring. Summer is just around the corner!!! See you all tomorrow!!!
