Peelin' Away in Margartiaville

Aargh. I had this post all typed up, then I hit the wrong key and ERASED it. So I must try again.

Anyway. first the ViPeel. It started just like Dr L said, and has been peeling like crazy. It started around my chin and mouth, then moved to my nose, cheeks, and lastly, forehead. Now it's starting at the lips again for round 2. Here's the beginning:

This is 3 PM Friday. Later on that day, at 6 PM

The sheets of skin were a little larger. All this time, it didn't hurt at all, and itched about 2/10. Then on Saturday morning,

The skin sheets got larger and spread rapidly. It didn't hurt until Saturday night, after I washed it and put the hydrocortisone cream on it. Then it stung like the dickens. When I woke up this morning, it was still stinging and there were skin flakes in my hair. Right now, it's just tolerable. I put some makeup on to go to lunch with my mom, and it looks pretty good, but it stings. And I have a cold, so I am not the happiest camper on the block. Oh well.
Addendum : It is now Monday evening. All day today my face has peeled (in small flakes like a sunburn) , stung, burned, and itched. This is definitely not a comfortable procedure.

Anyway, On Friday night, as I was driving home, I saw that the Assistance League was having a sale, so of course, in I went. I got 4 items. First, these brown suede boots.

They are brand new, never worn. They have gold chain trim that is held together by gold circles with clear stones.

Pretty cool. I also got a brown knit bolero that is the identical match to the black/turquoise one I wore the other day. Both are made by INC.

The brown version has earth tone trim. I'm sure that I will get a lot of wear out of it, just like I have with the black/turq version.

Then I got a single knit, HEAVY weight jersey zip front jacket that has the most luxurious trim and perfect hardware.

Here's a close up of the trim.

Know why it's so nice? Because it was made by

I have a couple of warm up suits from Bloomingdale's, and in my opinion, they are the best quality out there - the knit is very substantial, and the trim is well made. They also launder beautifully. Lastly, I got the coolest retro jacket.

It's a longer band jacket type shape with a jewel neckline, a button front, and awesome embroidery all around. Here's a better look at that embellishment

Guess who made this beauty??

Bob Mackie Wearable Art!!! I have two other Bob Mackie pieces, and they are always memorable, and very nicely finished with lots of embellishments. Can't wait to wear this one.

So yesterday was bright and sunny and in the mid to high 70s. All the rain a couple of weeks ago really helped out my plants and flowers. I went out back to feed the boys, and saw my yellow rose.

I only planted this one a year or so ago, so I am happy that it already produces blooms. Well, Saturday was Elli and my 2 year anniversary of being together. I got her the promised gift - two chicken egg rolls from Panda Express.

I broke them up and put them on her tray with her regular food. She snarfed both of them, no questions asked. A little later, our grandson Preston called, and wanted us to come over and see his new German Shepherd Dog puppy, Annie.

she is 7 weeks old and very pudgy and soft and totally adorable.

Another sweet dog to join our family and spoil rotten. Later, Preston went to Supercross. He loves the girls.

I guess he had a favorite. He is a chip off the old block, that boy. Loves girls, like his pappy and grandpa.
Today, my mom took Doc and I out to brunch at the Hacienda On the Lake, in Mission Viejo, a city about a half hour south of Huntington Beach, and then inland a few miles. It's a manmade lake with large houses all around.

In the background, you can see the famous Saddleback Mountain. There were people paddleboarding and kayaking and cruising around on their Duffy boats. We went to the Lakeside Plaza - there are a couple of restaurants there, and some realtors, salons, physical therapy, and other small businesses.
You can really see the Saddleback Ridge in this one. The restaurant we went to was classic Sonoran style Mexican food - the popular kind, with tacos, enchiladas, tamales, rice and beans. I had machaca, which is shredded beef with onions, peppers, tomatoes, and eggs. It was served with potatoes, refried beans, fruit, Mexican sweet bread, chips and salsa, and champagne.

It was dee-lish!!! For an outfit, I was feeling less than creative due to my illness and my peeling. So of course, I wore my trusty Levis jeans. On top, I wore a crocheted poncho that is done in pink to fuchsia ombre.

It's very pretty. I got it at Nordstrom. I hope it distracted from my peely face. I wore a costume choker of gold tone and crystals.

I was feeling sick, so I took a nap pretty much all afternoon. Then we walked the dogs, and I kicked it again. Tomorrow, I sit second row center court at the Clippers versus Celtics game for MLK Day. I'll fill you in on another post.

I will use the purchase of those brown boots to link with Sheila at www.sheilaephemera.com
for Shoe Shine Saturday. Both my shoes and my face shone brightly!!!

  1. Is this from a laser peel? I am so scared to do anything like this. Hope you are feeling better.

  2. No, it's a chemical peel. Although it worked very well, it does hurt. I timed it perfectly, because I had a 3 day weekend. I did it on Weds, it started peeling Fri, hurt Sat and Sun. All better Tuesday morning. I liked the result.
