Falling Into Florals

Even though we are going to be having a MAJOR October heat wave here in SoCal, I am continuing my futile attempt to bring fall around through sheer will. So once again, I am wearing one of my oldest, yet tried and true, fall/winter dresses.

This dress is a pink and maroon floral, and is one of the most flattering ones I own. It is also completely comfortable. I have no idea of either the brand or the provenance of this dress. It seems like it has always been around. One of the best features is the ruching and seaming around the midsection.

It has an empire seam beneath the bustline, then a diagonal seam across the hips. In between there is an abundance of ruching. These features serve to hide bloating, an extra burrito, and any and all forms of protuberant abdominal conditions. The rest of the dress is fitted, so there is also major sleek factor going on. For my necklace, a cluster of garnets that my mom got me for one birthday. The matching earrings are identical.

I only wore jewelry on my left hand today. I have the garnet and opal bracelet that my mom also got me (this time for my 40th birthday), and a ruby/diamond wedding band and a marquise diamond solitaire ring.

And of course, you know I have the perfect shoes for this completely coordinated ensemble - the Guess Mary Janes in a range of pink/tan/maroon hues. I am wearing them with nude fishnet hosiery.

As always on Thursday, I am linking up with Erin at www.simplyjustlovelyblog.com for Working Girl With Style. I think I just may qualify today.
