Then, I was meeting a friend to go see Jefferson Starship and Three Dog Night at the fair. I went early so I could spend a few hours roaming around. Of course, I started with the animals.
The entrance to the livestock area is the Millenium Barn. Sorry about the fingerprint. First, I gazed in awe at the Watusi and her calf.
Isn't she gorgeous? She is 7, and those giant horns are hollow, like fingernail thickness. The Watusi fills them with air and they cool her off. It takes about 2 years for them to get this big.
Next door, there was a sow and her 7 piglets.
They sure were a cute bunch. Then I watched the Nigerian Dwarf goat judging.
They all looked like winners to me, but the one with the biggest gut and flattest back won. After that, I was hungry, so I got a Rosie O'Donnell dog from Pink's Hot Dogs. They have two shops - one on Melrose and La Brea in LA, and one at Knotts Berry Farm in Anaheim.
It has chili, kraut, onions, pickles, and tomato. It was tasty, to say the least. Then I went through the Ice Museum.
the Home Arts to look at the cakes, pies, breads, and needlework. Check out this cake - it looked like real succulents. Here are the prize winning cupcakes.
Then I went to the Arts building. I am an amateur painter, so I like to see other's work. Here is an acrylic of someone's min pin.
This next one is an oil of Blarney Castle in Ireland. I have been there, and it looks exactly like this.
This painting of a chihuahua looked like a photo, it was so realistic.
After that, it was time to go through the Carnival of Products. I love to buy stuff at the fair, because it's either very unique, or a very good deal. On the way in, they had a booth selling deep fried coffee.
Hmm. I decided to forego this delight. First, I bought two chihuahua silhouettes in the Crafter's Village.
So stinkin' cute. Then, I bought a mint/pale blue handbag with a sparkly tassel and gold studs down the sides. It was a very good deal, and this may be the one color I was lacking in my purse collection.
Finally, I bought a huge bottle of my favorite fragrance, Bijan. It's hard to find, and this giant bottle was only $39.
Check out the crowd - lotsa white hair. The seats were good. Jefferson Starship played first - they were awesome. There was only one original member, Gerry Frieberg . I don't know if I spelled that right. The lead singer was Kathy Richardson, and she was amazing. My favorite song was Miracles, from the Red Octopus album.
Then Three Dog Night came on. There were three original members. They had their first hit in 1970. They were better showmen, but I thought J Star were better vocalists and musicians. They were also very good, and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I made a new friend, Kim, a lady who sat next to me. We exchanged numbers, and I told Doc that we will soon start dating :).
On the way out, they were giving out Maruchan products, so I loaded up with my free bag. Here's what was inside.
I got home around 11 PM. I had a very fun day. It sure beats working!!!! See you all next week!!!
I have not gone to the fair for a couple of years. I want to go but no one in my household ls interested. Love your new purse!

Hi Alice - i have been busy at work. I hadn't gone to the fair last year either. And the year before, I didn't really get to explore. Just pick a concert and go on your own. I can guarantee you, there are always folks to chat with between acts, and it's fun!!!
