Shen Yun 2017

On Saturday, my friend Lauren and I went to see Shen Yun 2017. It is a program of music and dance that illustrates many of the different types of classical Chinese arts. It was a wonderful program, with gorgeous costumes and backdrops. They said that the show changes every year, so maybe I will go and see it again in a couple of years. It was held at the Terrace Theater in Long Beach, Ca, which is about 15 minutes north of Huntington Beach.

The two blue and red backdrops are celebrities being interviewed for PBS SoCal TV.

I took this shot so you can see a bit of the LB skyline. LB used to be a very ritzy area with it's own amusement park called the Pike. Then it had a bit of a downturn, then it was regentrified. Now there are lots of restaurants, museums, art galleries, and very expensive high rise luxury condos. The Queen Mary and the Grey Goose are also there. It's a fun place to spend the day, and it does have some nice wide white sand beaches.

Here is the plaza in front of the Terrace Theater. They had full bar inside, but no food, so fortunately for the hungry ones, two food trucks parked outside. You can see the lines.

In order to celebrate the Chinese culture, of course, I wore a themed costume.

The photobomber Pandi is behind me. This is a brocade top from Clio with a gold lurex tank underneath. And of course, my trusty Express ponte pants. I have worn the tank so much that it is falling apart, so I ordered one from St John yesterday. To me, it was worth the money, because I wore this one a lot.

I even attempted a Chinese hairdo -  a big bun (it has a form underneath, that is NOT all my hair) with a couple of chopsticks stuck in there.

I started with these cute sandals, but changed into black flops once we saw how far away we had to park.

I also wore my three piece Indian parure - necklace, earrings and ring, all ruby and emerald.

On my right arm, a gold bracelet and a diamond tennis bracelet.

On my left arm, a seed bead cuff from the Chakra Shack in Laguna Beach and my yellow gold wedding rings.

Yesterday, we just relaxed and enjoyed the weather, our puppers, and did some grocery shopping and reading. Today, back to work !!!

I have been on a pants kick lately, but the next two days have dresses planned.  This is a polyester charmeuse top from Style and Co and green slacks from INC. Very comfy getup.

I wore a green agate statement necklace that I got from EBay.

On my right arm, a seraphinite bracelet  and an adventurine ring.

On my left arm, a malachite bracelt and a leopard jasper ring.

And that brings us up to speed!!!
