Goodbye to my Mom

My mother died last Thursday at 96 years of age. I have discussed it briefly here, but this is not the place for that kind of thing. But she was very unwell the last few months, and on hospice. For me, it is actually a blessing and a relief to see her freed from a tired and ill body and in a better place where she can see the MANY who have gone before.

So we didn't really take much from her last home, other than this beautiful cedar chest that has been in the family for many years. It was her hope chest before her marriage a long time ago.

It needed a good polishing, but was otherwise very pretty. I arranged some of her little trinkets on top.

While finding a spot for this beautiful piece, I also moved one of Doc's bookcases to the corner of the living room.

While I was at it, I cleaned the French doors leading to the pool, and also the garden window in the kitchen. Working on this stuff kept me busy and not worried about the week ahead, what with the funeral and all.

My mom was quite the jewelry buff. I have many pieces that I just inherited, as well as many she has given me through the years. I am also packaging up 4 or 5 pieces for every female member of both families, and will be giving them away after the funeral on Friday. I know the ladies will cherish and enjoy all of it.

So back to the usual -  what am I wearing today?

This dress is from H and M and was given to me by my MIL, Mimi. It's pretty and easy fitting. On top, I have a denim jacket with a ruffled collar by Chelsea and Theodore. I got it at Stein Mart.

I wore a bunch of my mom's stuff today, so looky here!!! Two necklaces - the longer one is blue topaz and moonstone, and the shorter one is tanzanite.

On my right arm, two silver bracelets, with a closeup, and a diamond band and blue topaz ring.

On my left arm, a silver bracelet, a diamond bracelet, and my white gold/diamond/sapphire wedding set.

Today, I am linking with: www.northwestblonde.com for Start the Week Stylish, Classy Monday over at www.elegantlyfashionable.com, and www.stylenudge.com for Shoe and Tell.

Well, I will keep up the fashion as well as I can over the next week. It's fun, and it's a harmless and distracting hobby. See you all soon!!!
