The Beauty and the Beach

It was a pretty quiet weekend around here - we had a few things to take care of. But we did have time on Sunday to take a stroll down to downtown HB with our little Pandi.

It always starts at Farquhar Park, because it is 1 mile from the beach and parking is free.

There are usually a few other dogs there, but today, only soccer players.

Pandi was still as excited as ever.

We strolled down Main Street. The picture above shows the Art Institute, where I used to take my painting and drawing lessons.

 This is the Shoreline Hotel. All the patios, bars and restaurants are in an inner courtyard. It's a nice hotel. Below it, on street level are more shops and restaurants.

Here's the pier - the red roof at the end is Ruby's, and the tower is the lifeguard station.

Lots of visitors on this beautiful sunny day.

 This is Duke's Restaurant. It started in Hawaii.

Believe it or not, they have the best nachos in HB.

We walked for an hour and twenty minutes, until my compadres (Doc and Pan) started complaining (Doc) and wanting to be carried (Pan). Lightweights.

When I got home, my June Ipsy bag was waiting for me.

The bag this month had a big smooch. The makeup illustrations are not really my style, but my products are nice.

From top to bottom:

Back to work, and what did I wear? A vintage sweater and skirt set by Castleberry Knits.

It's really comfy, with an elastic waist and set in pleats. The fabrication reminds me of St John's Santana knit.

The top has horizontal stripes and then a diagonal navy blue stripe.

When I added my costume necklace from Kansas City, it reminded me of a semaphor. So I added a sapphire pendant.

On my right arm, a London Blue Topaz ring, and two gold bracelets.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding rings and a scarab bracelet.

Summer is Coming

I wore two different summery colored outfits the last two days - after all, summer is only 11 days away!! First, yesterday :

This is a silky BB Dakota dress covered by an Ann Taylor knit cardigan, because it's still overcast here at the beach in the mornings.

The purple with rhinestones is a tank that I wear beneath the dress because it's a bit low cut for work. the other two necklaces are mu purple Austrian crystals and a green costume piece.

On my right arm, an emerald/diamond ring, an amethyst bracelet and a peridot bracelet.

On my left arm, my Claddagh wedding ring from Ireland, another amethyst bracelet, and a multi color gemstone bracelet.

Today, it's a little warmer, so I am a little brighter!!

This is a Celine skirt with a Neiman Marcus top. There will be a closeup of the trim on the top below.

I wore a braided, diamond cut silver necklace.

On my right arm, a diamond tennis bracelet and an Adventurine ring.

On my left arm, a white gold wedding set, and two bracelets. The bigger one is cubic zirconia.

And here is the trim. It's net with beads and sequins. Any type of metal (gold, silver, bronze) would go with this top.

A Hacker of a Different Kind

I have a cold, and I am coughing, so that's the only hacking that I am able to do. But at least I have on a nice outfit !! Silver Linings. Here is what I wore yesterday :

This is an eci dress that I got at Macy's in Fort Lauderdale, when I was there in 2011. Hopefully, it's still in style. I see some of these elaborate prints still being offered, so I think I'm okay.

Here's a closer look. I would never have thought that lavender and black would go together, but there you are !!  I wore my Versace belt.

A Joan Rivers statement necklace was the choice for the day.

On my right arm, a tanzanite ring and two amethyst bracelets.

On my left arm, two amethyst rings, another amethyst bracelet and a tanzanite bracelet.

Sadly, these Nine West sandals are going in the trash. They are dying a slow death, with many things going wrong with them, like the buckles and the soles.

 Today, a deeper shade of purple. This is a Nipon Boutique chiffon skirt with an Antthony Designs sharkbite top .

I wore purple Austrian crystals for my necklace and earrings.

On my right arm, an amethyst triple band and two silver / quartz bracelets.

On my left arm, two more Austrian crystal bracelets, this time black and white, an amethyst ring and a tanzanite wide band.

Back to the Treasure Chest

Here in Orange County California, we have a big swap meet that is held at the County Fairgrounds. I haven't been there since we went with Kim and Nathan while they were dating and they are now married and have a 6 year old, so I guess that makes 8 or 9 years.

Here's the gloomy, dreary main path. There were still quite a few people, since the weather eliminated beach going.

They had these cool dog igloos, but spoiled Pandi insists on sleeping in the bed with us. The stairs in the back are fully padded, not like the plastic frame ones they used to have.

As I wandered through the venue, I saw an area where they have take away Mexican food and a bar and a band playing. I immediately noticed the bass player second from the right.

A couple of closer looks, and sure enough, it was my old friend who gave Kenni to me years ago.
He got Kenni as a puppy, ($800) but Kenni was so spun and hyper that I was requested to come foster him for a week or so. Well, at the end of the week, the friend didn't want him back, so I kept him. I showed him pictures of Kenni and told him how well he is doing, and that he is happy and we like him.

I got Doc a new man purse for our upcoming trip. His current murse is leather and falling apart, so I got a heavy weight canvas one made by Everest. Much nicer than his current murse.

It had all kinds of pockets and can be carried crossbody, thus making it harder to pickpocket.

I also got those copper oven liners that you see on TV, only for just $10. I laboriously and disgustingly cleaned both the double oven and the stove top, and now they are sparkling.

This surfing chihuahua flag was cute.

I finally got a tag for Pandi, even though she is microchipped.

I noticed that she had a weepy rash right there on the white lines in her fur, so I bathed her in medicated shampoo and gave her this month's dose of flea control. It made her lethargic, which isn't unusual for dogs.

It's still gloomy today and will be for the entire week, but I am attempting to bring some cheer to my wardrobe.

This is an ivory scuba dress from Chetta B and the Helena Sorel jacket that I got at the church pile sale last weekend.

 It's lime green brocade.

The dress has mesh inserts at the neckline. I wore my weird green resin necklace and an amber drop on a long gold chain. 

On my right arm, a peridot bracelet and the peridot ring that I got in Montana.

On my left arm, my wedding rings and the seed bead/crystal bracelet from Neiman Marcus.
