We decided to hang around Huntington Beach on New Year's Eve. It has been pouring rain this fall and winter. I guess all those rain dances I did work a little too well. We have both been watching shopping hauls on Tik Tok. I like the grocery and the thrift store runs. We ended up doing some thrift store runs since we haven't done that in a while. First stop, the ever-popular Salvation Army. Then we hit up the Goodwill Classic Closet Boutique and the Dollar Tree. Here is the haul:
Pandi is either inspecting the goodies or looking for something for herself. All of these items are from the Army.
First up, the DVDs. Two workouts, two BBC series ad a Christmas classic.
The some miscellaneous - an Egyptian statue, some bookends (always needed) and a Pryex casserole dish in an unusual size.
I found some unused slipper boots and a cute cross-body bag.
Two clothing items - a jersey shirt/dress in that popular ruched button front style, and a Hispanic Heritage month T shirt for my MIL. She is big into her Mexican ancestry.
Now for the Goodwill goodies. I got another large Pyrex measuring cup and two mugs. The New York one has the twin towers on it.
I found a brand-new pair of So yoga pants and some ivory slacks. I always look for ivory slacks because I have a tendency to wreck them.
Then for the Dollar Tree.
Beauty and medicine include Bandaids, gauze pads, paper tape, an elastic wrap, some benadryl, a tub of Icy Hot, some shower fizzies and Hemp Heaven Body Wash.
Some kitchen essentials - foam plates, zip lock baggies and plastic bowl covers.
In the food category, we picked up some A&W Root Beer, Hot Tamales, Egg noodles, Reese's pieces, Nacho cheese sauce, and deviled ham.
Miscellaneous items include more DVDs, some sport socks, and reading glasses.
On New Year's Day, Pandi helped us pack for a picnic lunch and a drive down the beautiful coastline. It was freezing out.
First stop - gorgeous Corona Del Mar. This is Lookout Point.
Then we went down to Laguna Beach. This park is called Heisler Park. We ate in the car. We had crescent rollups with ham and cheese, stuffed mushrooms, veggie salad, and a Bosc pear.
Our final nature stop was Dana Point. We drove up the hill near the Aquatic Center and parked at Sea View Park.
A short hike takes you down the path for a breathtaking view of Dana Point Harbor.
After that, we went a bit inland to San Juan Capistrano. They have an antique mall called the Old Barn.
I got a crystal perfume bottle. I added it to my collection.
Our squirrels, Myrnette and Jefferson, have been eating a lot of tangerines.
I put out a hummingbird feeder for our little friends who drop by for a sweet drink.
The hospital orders poinsettias for the holiday. I took home a red one and a white one to put out in the Garden of Holtzman.
My Ipsy bag came. I have not heard from Birchbox yet. Maybe they have gone out of business.
In my Ipsy :
1) Kensie So Pretty fragrance - I love this!!
2) First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser
3) Cashmere Lip Pencil in Mocha
4) Goldfaden MD Bright Eyes Dark Circle Radiance Concentrate
5) Truth Cosmetics Eye Candy Eyeshadow Duo
So let's take a look at my outfits from the last couple of weeks. Back to December 27th.
These are Express gray pinstriped slacks, worn with a silver taffeta jacket from Jessica Mcclintock and a silver lurex ribbed top. This is another outfit that I wear yearly.
On December 28th, I wore navy slacks with no label, along with a navy and metallic duster from Susan Graver, and a gold lurex tank from St John.
My necklace is Joan Rivers, and my belt is vintage.
On the 29th, I wore a heavy knit dress from Calvin Klein. Underneath, a black sparkly top from INC.
The jewelry was mostly my mom's, and from Kenneth Jay Lane.
On December 30th, the famous DNA dress from DS Dresses. I got it at Saks, and it never disappoints.
I wore a bunch of garnet and silver jewelry with it. I got my Botox touched up after work. I haven't been for over a year, so I was overdue.
Back to work on January 3rd. I wore the black jersey shirt top with black slacks that have embroidery down one leg. Underneath, a cashmere tank that is part of a cardigan and top set from Neiman Marcus.
Gucci mules and an Ann Taylor belt added nice touches.
On January 4th, another Calvin Klein sweater dress. It has a full-length zipper, so it can be worn as a dress or as a cardigan.
I wore a Hermes belt and the gold St John tank with this burgundy dress.
On January 5th, I wore a knit lurex skirt from INC with a navy top from Express.
The walking Liberty coin necklace was another Christmas gift from Doc.
I actually wore something besides workout clothes on my day off, Friday January 6th. This outfit is made of brown slinky knit pants, an ivory henley top, and a fair isle patterned sweater from INC.
The brown boots are from Nordstrom. The brand is Chinese Laundry. Next time I will wear sleeker pants and a tighter shirt under the top.
On Sunday, January 8th, we met my brother Bob and his girlfriend Karin at Duke's on the HB pier for lunch.
I wore black leather slacks from Spiegel and a Hugo Boss merino wool sweater.
I wore gold and ruby jewelry and an Escada belt.
Back to work on Monday the 9th. It was raining so I wore the same leather slacks with a patterned cardigan from The Tog Shop and a Joseph A sweater with a lattice neckline.
This necklace was also my mom's and is made by Joan Rivers.
It was pouring the next day, so I wore grey corduroy slacks from Old Navy, and a crocheted poncho that I got at Nordstrom.
No jewelry needed. The purple turtleneck that I wore underneath was too short, so I am donating it. I kept tugging it down all day.
On Wednesday, another Calvin Klein dress.
It has tonal studs on both the tan and the black parts. My Tahari boots were the finishing touch.
Thursday, December 12th was my last day before a four-day weekend. I wore a Philosophy by Alberta Ferreti dress and rust colored shoes from White House Black Market. I wore a rust color suede jacket from Bandolino on top. IT's a shade lighter than the shoes.
My long tassel necklace is from Paparazzi accessories, and it cost a whole dollar. I really like it a lot.
So that's all for now. We have a weekend trip planned later in the month, so stay tuned for the recap.
Happy New Year !!!
