Holiday Horsepower

We had our Holtzman family dinner one day early, on Wednesday. This is what I wore:

I combined a F21 knit top with tonal beading and sheer hem and sleeves with an Antthony Designs lace skirt. My Paloma Picasso belt provided a nice touch.

My necklace was a burgundy pearl/copper faceted bead piece from Stein Mart.

On my left arm, my Coleen Lopez garnet ring, and two bracelets - one was garnets only, and was my mom's, and the other was garnet/opa;, given to me by my mom for my 40th birthday.

All my grandkids wanted a ride in my new car. Kids LOVE convertibles.

First up was Preston - we watched the roof open and then took a little spin while listening to Led Zeppelin.

Then Benjy had to get a turn sitting in the seat.

After that came Joseph.

Last but never least, Calista.

Then, all three of them crammed themselves into the seat.

Here is the view from the front windshield.

After a delicious dinner of ham, potatoes au gratin, green bean casserole, rolls, salads, yams, and pie, we went down to the HB Pier. Doc and I parked about 1 mile away, and walked back and forth. We all had a beverage at Ruby's before Luke, Ashley, and Preston took off for home. The freeways in SoCal are a nightmare on holiday weekends.

The next day, which was Thanksgiving Day, Doc and I hit the track for some drinkin' and bettin'. Well, we made some bets anyhow. this is what I wore:

This outfit is a Style and Co lurex knit sweater and some WalMart pajama jeans legginigs.

My INC tassel necklace seemed like the perfect touch.

On my right arm, the bracelet that matches the necklace I wore yesterday. I didn't remember the bracelet in time to wear them together.

On my left arm, a mustard/black suede cuff.

Here I am at the entrance to the Los Alamitos Race Course.

Since it was Thanksgiving, there was no live racing - we watched the action at Del Mar from the screens.

The inner track looked just like Del Mar, with a water feature and the odds board.

As you can see, the grandstand was largely empty, but there were lots of gamblers inside, betting on the various tracks around the country.

Here I am, posing with a winning ticket and my dough. Here's how it broke down:

Race 1: Evolve to win (35 to 1) - Doc bet $10 and lost. Evolve was dead last.
Eichel to place (3 to 1) - Rosie bet $2 and lost. Eichel showed.

Race 2 : Tiz Jolie to win (5 to 1) - Doc bet $2 and lost. Tiz Jolie came in fourth.
Broadway Nika  to win (9 to 1) - Rosie bet $2 and lost. Broadway Nika placed.

Race 3 : Poshky (3 to 1) Terry's Tom Girl (7 to 1) and Sky Preacher (7/2) all to place - We bet together. Poshky won, and Sky Preacher placed. Terry's Tom Girl was next to last. We got $6.60.

Race 4: Drover Crazy (9/2) and Bolita Boyz (12 to 1) both to place by Rosie. Doc bet $10 on Anxious Times (23 to 1) and he came in dead last. Drover Crazy won and Bolita Boyz came in third, so Rosie got $4. 40.

After that. we stopped across the street at Katella Deli and had lunch at the counter. I had the chopped liver appetizer and Doc had salad bar. They were showing the American Kennel Club Dog Show, and this sweet old man and I commented on the beautiful dogs and showed each other pictures of our dogs. He was up from Dana Point to see his wife, who lives in a nearby facility. He was very old and very nice, and when we left, he shook Doc's hand.

Well, tomorrow has lots of shopping planned. I need to get  some picture frames, and other stuff, and I will be sure to show you everything I buy, so stay tuned!!!
