So I have been back at work for about ten days now. I heard a great quote the other day - "No one needs a vacation more than someone who has just come back from a vacation ". Word.
So I will show you what I have been wearing back to the grind. On September 9, my first day back :
I wore a tried and true dress from Calvin Klein. Big advantage = no ironing.
I wore some costume necklaces with this dress.
The next day, I recreated an outfit that I saw on a really cute girl in Tim Horton's in Toronto. She wore her ivory blouse with skinny jeans, whereas I wore tuxedo pants from Bebe.
Pretty good impersonation. I wore more costume jewelry today, this time crystals and pearls from Neiman Marcus.
On Wednesday, September 11, I wore my stretch wool slacks from Cache with an INC henley sweater.
On Thursday, Calvin Klein again. This is a drop waist shift with an embossed puffy knit.
The long black scarf is actually a sarong wrap from La Blanca that goes over a black swimsuit.
I liked the contrast and I wanted to wear these black shoes and decide if they stay or get given away. They were cheap and when I wore them last time, my feet hurt. But today was painless, so they stay.
On Friday the 13th, my son had surgery for a torn ACL. So I was in this getup for 14 hours. It was comfy, so I was okay.
These pants are joggers from Old Navy. They have pockets on the butt and a faux fly. The T shirt is INC.
It has little silver studs in a rose pattern on the front.
The weekend was all about Nathan and his recovery from surgery, which included a trip back to the ED and an overnight stay, due to a medication interaction. So on Monday the 16th, I was still a little tired. I wore this mesh knit dress because it feels like a nightgown.
This giant chunky necklace is from Nordstrom.
By the next day, I was a little perkier, so I wore a silk sheath with a painted print and a fishnet bomber jacket from Hale Bob.
Another ancient costume necklace.
On the 18th, we had a survey that I have been preparing for. I am happy to get that behind me. I always try to go extra elegant and professional for surveys. I think it shows respect.
It's hard to see, but this Anne Klein dress has a sarong style skirt that ties at one hip. It is featherweight wool.
My mom's KJL pendant and silver herringbone chain were perfect with this. I also brought a Tahari pinstripe blazer, but didn't wear it. It's still hanging on my chair because I forgot to bring it home.
And I debuted my new slingbacks from Christian Dior.
Those Kleins !!! Back to Calvin today, for this blush stretch crepe dress.
More interesting side details and more costume jewelry.
So this weekend, we are going to take it easy. I go to Washington DC, on October 1st. I never put away my suitcases from Canada.
Doc got me some stargazer lilies. He said that he has been slacking off on the flowers lately. He used to get some every week.
This was a gigantic bunch and they were very fragrant. It's a week later, and about half of them are still alive, since there were a lot of unopened buds.
I went to Target to get some air freshener. They are having a repeat launch of all the collaborations they have done in the past few years. I got his wastebasket. I love the old timey animal illustrations.
It was $20, which I felt bad about, but I knew that I would love it and it will probably be around for fifty years, since the plastic is very heavy weight.
I did manage to clean out the front yard clump last weekend and replace the dead stuff with new fall plants. I always lose a couple of plants when we go on vacation.
My September Birchbox came. I am giving the bag and the stickers to my granddaughter Calista.
Here's what I got, from top to bottom:
1) Naturally Serious Major Moisture Gentle Cream Cleanser - this will go to DC with me.
2) MAC Lipglass in Love Child - a beautiful mauve color, perfect for me.
3) Coola Sunless Tan Anti-aging Face serum
4) Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray - love me some Oribe
5) Punk Volumizer mascara
6) Daily Concepts Multi-Functional Soap Sponge in Mother of Pearl
And finally, some snacks on clearance at BevMo. Yum- Walker's shortbread and Ghiradelli Bourbon Caramel chocolates.
Well, see you all soon, hopefully with more interesting shenanigans.
