Welcome Iron Chef Holtzman

My husband never learned how to cook, other than warming things up in the microwave or scrambling eggs. Now that he is preparing to retire, he asked about learning how to make something different. I suggested the good old standby, the casserole. I told him all you need is a meat, a carb, some veggies, a cream soup or sauce, and maybe some cheese. Mix them together and bake at 350 until the top turns brown. Well, he made two over the long weekend:

The first fabulous creation was shredded chicken breast, zucchini, onions and peppers, linguine and parmesan noodles, bread crumbs and shredded parmesan cheese.

Sautee the chicken and veggies and make the noodles in a separate pot.

First layer : linguine.

Second layer : Chicken and veggies.

Third layer : parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs.

He said it looked boring, so we added black olives on top. It was delicious.

A few days later, the combo was shredded chicken, the same veggies, only with cream of potato soup and cheddar cheese.

To make it unboring, we added flattened dinner rolls on the top and baked it that way.

Even more delicious. Now Doc has three items in his cooking repertoire.

Pandi remained as his loyal companion and sous chef in her Ruff Life T shirt.

Today, I am wearing my new Philosophy dress. I added a velvet belt from Talbot's to give it some shape.

On top, my leather moto jacket - it is Neiman Marcus store brand.

And my ancient Avon bib necklace finished the look off.
