It has been so dreary around here. It's like we are living in the PNW, but with California prices. Usually, we are using the pool by Mother's Day, but not this year. It rained three times this week, I know we desperately needed the rain, and it was extremely hot last year, but I would really enjoy some nice SoCal sunshine. I'm putting out the mojo that the Fourth of July will be sunny.
The gloom did give me a chance to wear some of my new goodies, however. In my last post, I showed you the faux Fendi joggers and the quilted jacket I got, and on June 5th, I wore them to take Doc to a dentist appointment. He has another one coming up - he has been dreading it because he needs a little work. I don't blame him - I think everyone hates the dentist.
I wore my super snazzy Bebe glam sneakers with this outfit.
Back to work on June 6th. I wore this Worthington dress. This cute little dress has been underappreciated. It has crystal pleated bell sleeves. I paired it with my new $5 swap meet boots from Sam Edelman, a White House Black Market belt, and my Vatican coin necklace. Adorable and comfy.
On June 7th, I wore another Worthington item - this was the house brand for JC Penney for many years, and I have purchased a lot of things from them that I have really liked. Today I wore a chiffon blouse with gold lurex accents. My gold leather skirt is by INC.
Let's give the costume cross necklace a shout out.
On June 8th, I wore my favorite Ivanka Trump knit dress. I liked it so much that when the first one died, I bought the identical dress from EBay. The fabric is plush, and the draping and zipper detail takes a plain shift dress to another level.
I wore a Versace belt and a Thor's axe gold pendant with this. Assorted gold and my Hermes CDC cuff rounded out the look.
On June 9th, I wore my favorite set from Antthony Designs. Seems like it was a week of favorites.
This is another brand that has the best fabrication. It is a polyester blend that is extremely soft, and the embellishment is top-notch. I have had it for several years. It's machine washable and looks brand new every time I wear it.
These men's jeans were at Nordstrom Rack. These might be the ugliest and weirdest men's pants that I have ever seen. The brand is called Billionaire Boy's Club.
I have been keeping a secret from you. When my little Kenni died in September, we took our time deciding what breed of dog we would get to replace him. He was our guard dog. I wanted a female Doberman, but Doc did not. He preferred a German Shepherd, but I didn't agree with that. So we looked at videos and TikToks and I fell in love with chocolate labs.
We found one right away!! Her name will be Jacki Brown, after one of my favorite movies. She is five weeks old, and we can pick her up on June 30th. This is her!!! Her blue eyes will most likely turn hazel.
She is such a squish! She is one of 12 - a few black, two chocolates, and a bunch of yellows. All cute. She is being raised in Whittier by a lovely man named Irving Sanchez. I cannot wait! I got her a ZPen and we will take her for a wellness check at the vet as soon as we get her.
Pandi was a shelter dog for a while so I don't think she will mind Jacki. She is used to getting along with other dogs. And Vinni is so affection driven that I am sure he will love having someone to play with.
We had another neighborhood garage sale on June 10th. I love these - we get great bargains, and we get to visit with our neighbors and hear the latest gossip round the hood. Here is the haul:
Pandi inspects the goodies as usual.
We got a backpack, a twelve pack of Ball canning jars, a lighted makeup mirror, an A&W root beer mug and a cookbook.
We also got four divided lunch containers and four notebooks.
Extras : a headlamp, some nightlights, a pepper spray, a computer bag, some videos, and a giant cupcake mold.
My experiments in horticulture continue. I have four tomato plants (out of eight seeds). I don't know if 50% yield is good or bad.
Also, I planted some wildflowers, and they are doing great in the She Shed Window Box. I love my She Shed!
I got my Ipsy bag. Birchbox has sent me a notice of what I will be getting since their reboot, and it looks like a lot of products, so we will see. But anyway, faithful Ipsy sent me:
From top to bottom:
1) Kevyn Aucoin Foundation Balm in FB06 - a cute little pot of velvety matte foundation. It's super nice, but pricey. I will probably stick with Chanel for high-end foundation.
2) Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Daily Facial Wash - I have not tried this yet.
3) Neogen Dermalogy Real Niacinimide 15% Firming Cream. - I have not tried this yet but am looking forward to it.
4) Unfiltered Beauty Co Pout Potion Lip Oil in So Retro - Not tried it yet. I have a lip potion that I am using, but it's really goopy so I can't kiss Doc after it's on, so not my vibe. Maybe this one will be better.
5) Glowiest Sweet Dreams Collagen Glow Rose Gold Eye Masks - you are supposed to use them before bed and then rub in the excess. I am waiting for an occasion to whip them out.
Back to work on another rainy day, June 13th. I am wearing a Calvin Klein dress that I usually wear in the late fall or winter.
Once again, my Sam Edelman suede boots and my WHBM belt. I wore a costume necklace from Joan Rivers that was my mom's, and the usual black and gold accessories.
On Wednesday June 14th, I wore a navy and yellow shirtdress from Max Studio.
I wore navy tights and a navy/gold belt that I got in the thrift stores, and another Joan Rivers costume piece.
On Thursday, June 15th, I wore a dress from En Focus Studio. I got it in Washington DC. It is the same draped style as the one I have from North Style. This flattering style was popular pre-pandemic.
With it, I wore my black plastic waterfall necklace and black and gold rings and bracelets.
On Friday, June 16th, another day of rain all morning. This polyester dress is from H&M in an olive color with black and ivory polka dots.
You can't see, but I wore Louis Vuitton logo tights. And my necklace is a silver ingot that belonged to my mom.
Saturday the 17th, our new TV was delivered. I got a 60" LG OLED TV. It is so nice. I had it mounted so that it swivels toward our theater chairs. I had to move all the books out of the bookcase and rearrange them because this TV is bigger than the last one. We got it at Best Buy and the customer service was top notch.
Sunday the 18th was Father's Day. We got Chinese food and brought a chocolate-chocolate chip Nothing Bundt Cake.
I wore the Tolani Batik dress that I showed you from the Sal Army haul. I thought it might be too small, but it fit perfectly.
Here is a four-generation shot - Preston, Luke, Doc and Win. It was a nice day.
On Monday, June19th, I wore a lurex tweed dress from Donna Ricci. It's a beautiful dress and I have had it for years, but it needs some repair to the side hem and one of the pockets. So I need to do that because I do like this dress a lot. It was a staple for my work trips.
Here's a closer look. I wore a velvet Ann Taylor belt, the Joan Rivers pendants, Hermes CDC, and a Tiffany chain link bracelet.
On Tuesday, June 20th, it was finally a little warmer. I wore a scuba dress from Calvin Klein.
I wore all turquoise jewelry with this, except for my Eric BloodAxe silver coin in its bezel.
Wednesday was the last day I worked. I am off until Tuesday. On Wednesday the 21st, I wore a forest green crinkly knit dress from Studio New York. Looks like there are lots of brands with Studio in the name. It's a nice dress - it's fully lined, the fabric is thick, and it has a fairly lush pearl treatment at the neckline.
No necklace needed, but I did wear my pearl trimmed pilgrim type shoes.
Yesterday, we both went to get our eyes checked. I wanted new glasses. The last time we went, I got a cheap pair of bifocal glasses, and had the lenses upgraded in my Fendi glasses. The cheap ones were a mistake- the frames are bent, the lenses are scratched, and they fall off when I lean over. So I got Tiffany frames and the best coating on the lenses this time around. This is what I wore.
It's hard to see, but this tank from Coldwater Creek has a side sash of chiffon trimmed in bugle beads. The neckline is also braided.
The printed slinky knit pants are from Iman Global Chic. They are navy and metallic gold print.
That's about all for now. Tomorrow, we will go watch Preston graduate from middle school. He went to Agnes Dwyer Middle School in Huntington Beach. In the fall, he will go to HB High School.
Then we get Jacki next weekend, so stay tuned for all the cuteness!
