Thanksgiving was very different this year due to the COVID pandemic. Christmas probably will be different as well. Our hospital is bursting with cases over the past week. I hope it slows down a bit, and soon. At least we now know that there are a few vaccines on the horizon, and I will be first in line with my arm out.
So back to the fun. I have a bunch of outfits to show you, but first, a phone update. My phone broke- it refused to hold a charge, so I got a new one. Then I had the old one fixed, by having a new charging port put in. Since I now have two phones, I got another case:
It's YSL. It weighs a lot. I hope it doesn't scratch easily, but the chain and fob make it easy to carry hanging from my wrist.
This is an outfit that I wore one of the days when my phone was acting up. Doc took it with his phone.
I got the pants in Denver at some outlet mall, and the striped T shirt is Style and Co. My necklace is from Macy's in Washington DC. That was my last trip out of town, way back in Fall 2019.
This body con dress is from Halston. I am actually wearing it backwards. The draping is supposed to go down the back. I like it this way. It seemed really revealing when I tried it the right way.
Since I went with dove grey booties from Ivanka Trump, I wore a matching kid suede jacket on top.
I got this statement necklace made of moonstone from EBay. I purchased a bunch of them, but different colors and stones.
Shortly after, I got this bracelet - larimar, citrine, mabe pearl, and borealis crystals.
The next day, I wore a paisley knit dress from Carole Little. I have a few of these column dresses in different prints. They always look great, and can be dressed up or down. Also easy care.
With this, lavender suede shoes from Sam Edelman, and this royal purple jacket that my MIL, Mimi, gave me.
Here's another example of a knit dress that I wore on November 23rd. It is made by Connected Apparel. I have a couple of dresses from them, and they are nice and heavy and well made.
My faithful Versace belt and my new Tahari boots complete the outfit.
My workhorse of a jacket that I got at Saks. One of the best purchases I have ever made. I wear it a LOT.
Here's another example of a knit dress. It is made by Donna Morgan. It's heavy and well made.
On one side, there is ruching and a tie belt.
I finished this off with an Escada blazer (another item that I have had for years and wear a lot) and Christian Siriano shoes.
On November 20th, I decided to wear a unique outfit. I was planning on making a big grocery buy to last us for a couple of weeks. The under layer is a polyester knit set that looks exactly like long underwear in style.
To stay at home, it is cute and warm, because of the polyester. It was very inexpensive. To class it up so I could go to work, I wore a fantastic jacket from Cache, another great idea when I bought it.
The knit booties are from Chase and Chloe. With this tonal outfit, I wore my new Navajo pearls that Doc just gave me. They are silver and I will show them in detail later.
So that worked out fine. It was polished enough for a casual Friday during a pandemic, and I even got a few compliments. I did get really hot in the grocery store in this get up. But I made it just fine and did not break PPE protocol.
That weekend, I saw an outfit in some image, some where.. I attempted to recreate it. I did two trials, on consecutive days. Example #1:
Really nice crepe wrap skirt in a nondescript animal print. It's from Studio G. On top, a soft sweater from Style and Co with a fat row of crystals around the neck. It's tunic style. I wrapped it up with a black velvet belt from Ann Taylor and the Tahari boots.
Example number 2: Another knit skirt from Kasper that is more recognizable as giraffe. The plain V neck thin weight sweater was a JC Penney find.
This belt is from Cache - it's completely totally 80s, made of brown croc and gold chains, etc. The Tahari boots make yet another appearance.
On top, a no name brand fast fashion jacket. It's baseball style, made of ivory satin, and has bold gold hardware.
Apparently, this made me nostalgic for the eighties. I wore one of my first high end purchases, way back in the oldietimes. It is from Criscione, and it has a matching mini skirt that should no longer be worn in public.
The jacket is black and white houndstooth, with red patent leather and gold buttons.
Underneath, I wore some black knit slacks, a glittery V neck ribbed sweater and a red camisole. Also brought out the Gucci mules.
The next day, I wore a combo of Jones New York white slacks, and a jersey top from INC with crystals on the neckline, shoulder seams, and sleeve hems.
This beaded belt is on its last legs. But it went well here, and I finished it up with Navajo pearl and silver herringbone necklaces.
On top, I wore a jacket that I just got at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop. They have been closed, and even with a 50% off sale going on, it was not crowded at all. The crowd was actually sparse.
Anyway, this jacket was $18 and then 50% off, so Great deal. It's a size 1 (in Chico's unique sizing) and it's sort of tweed, with Venice lace accents. It has pockets and a very slight swing style.
I decided to bring out the sparkle the next day. This vertically striped lurex knit skirt is from INC and the cold sleeve top, from Express, is polyester crepe with a deep V chiffon inset at the neckline.
The navy velvet shoes are Gucci - love them.
And a silver lurex fine sweater knit cardigan is from another Macy's brand called JM Collection.
Okay, here is the other item I got at the Discovery Shop. It is a vintage (70s I guess from the tag), polyester shirtdress. It has tab sleeves and an elasticized waist with a tie. On top, a jacket from Ports International. It is beautifully made, and I have had it forever. But it has started to decay around the hem and other sharp points, so this is its farewell appearance.
This dress is nice and comfy. Once again !!! the Tahari boots. They were a good decision.
The jacket is a safari style made of a stiff linen blend. It has lots of pockets and lots of gold buttons.
Onto today. I saw a combo of green and black/white houndstooth on Instagram that I liked. Even though my attempt did not have the same proportions, I did like it and get compliments.
I wore black suede shoes from Halogen and a Cleopatra style gold necklace from Avon!!! I have had it for forty years and it is still untarnished and beautiful. I remember that it was pricy at the time, but it seems worth it.
On top, an unlined black satin baseball jacket. It quickly got too warm for that.
In the last post, I told you that I was making a banger pie. It is a Shepherds Pie, only with bangers instead of ground meat.
The rest is the same - mushrooms, peas and carrots, and mashed potato and parmesan top crust.

Aldi sometimes has eggs for 70 cents. When they do I get three cartons. With one carton, I made deviled eggs for Doc. He snarfed those babies up. I rarely get to use my deviled egg plate.
On Thanksgiving Day, we went over to Win and Mimi's and talked to them for a couple of hours. They gave us tamales to bring home and cook.
On Friday, i made our turkey dinner. One of these dishes is the sausage stuffing and one is a broccoli and cheese casserole. I have never made it before, but it was delicious. Also easy to make.
Then I got a little 12 pound turkey. I made gravy and mashed potatoes.
When we went over to Win and Mimi's, I brought flowers. Here they are.
Kiss Impress had some cool nail colors out last week. I got this marble pattern in two colors - navy and light grey.
My Birchbox came on the 26th - really late this month.

Ipsy came at the beginning of the month, but I like to show them together. The bag is 70s inspired.

1) Honey Jarret Clean Whip Cleanser - I used this and I love it. But I like cleansers that make a lot of suds. The gold standard is Origins Foaming Cleanser.

3) Violet Voss Eye Shadow Single - a glittery gold shade. Since I react to the glitter, I gave this to Claudia as well.

Instead of a big conifer for Christmas, I got a tree shaped rosemary plant. Pandi would have a field day with a big tree, and since they are in high demand this year, they are very expensive.
I named it Rosenberg, the Jewish Xmas tree. Don't faint, Doc is half Jewish and we celebrate Hanukah occasionally. Doc killed one of the rosemary plants in the front yard by pouring his bath water on it, so when Xmas is over, Rosenberg will be planted in the dead spot.

I got Pandi a set of door bells for her crate.
Well, that's about all for now. It took me a while to update, because like I said above, the COVID is out of control here in SoCal. Everyone either had or went to a Halloween party or did a lot of indoor visiting over the past month, and now we are paying the price. Almost all of our cases are due to exposure from family members. And we haven't even seen a Thanksgiving spike yet.
