Up in the hills, a few miles from the freeway, there are some enormous homes. They must have a pretty nice view, although there is no ocean nearby. Yorba Linda's claim to fame is that it is the birthplace of Richard M Nixon, and his Library is there. And that is where the seminar was held. During lunch hour, you could walk around the grounds and through the exhibits. I have been there before, but I still took photos of the highlights for you.
These two shots show the library building - there are many exhibits inside.
Leading from the main building is a huge infinity pool.
Once you walk past that, the famous rose gardens begin.
Yorba Linda is inland and can get quite hot in the summer, so there are lots of spots to take a load off.
Then there is a pathway to the actual house in which President Nixon was born.
This view looks from the rose gardens to the house. You can go inside, but no photos.
Here is the front porch.
Richard Nixon and his beloved wife, Pat Ryan Nixon are buried on the grounds.
The night before the seminar, I went to a consignment shop that one of my friends recommended. I got a few things. First, a nice warmup jacket by Fila. This one has the front kangaroo pocket that I like so much.
Then I got a georgette blouse by Metaphor.
It has a black studded collar, black cuffs, and a black button strip.
I got some cute retro looking brown Maryjanes from Laura Scott.
And finally, some black elastic/patent sandals from Impo.
When I got home, both my Birchbox and my Ipsy bag were waiting. YAY !!!
First, Birchbox. From right to left:
1) Living Proof Perfect Hair Day In Shower Styler - for hair that is not blow dried, like mine. I will try this soon.
2) Nanette Lepore Eau de Parfum
3) MAC Cosmetics False Lashes Mascara - a tiny sample
4) derma e Microdermabrasion scrub - I need this, since my Dr Jart is gone.
5) Vita Liberata Fabulous Self Tanning Gradual Lotion - I used to get an allergic reaction to self tanners 10 or 15 years ago, so we shall see if a new formulation works better for me.
Onto Ipsy. The theme is "Your Summer Story Starts Here". The cosmetic bag is clear with popsicles and ice cream cones on it.
1) It cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara - I like this brand, so I will use this.
2) Urban Decay Afterglow 8 Hour Powder Highlighter in Sin
3) Briogeo Rosarco Milk Leave In Conditioner - you know me, my frizzy head can ALWAYS use help.
And here's a better picture of the last two products:
1) Ulta Pacifica Island Life Natural Mineral Vegan Eye Shadow - a nice big palette of some cool colors!!
2) Starlooks Pro eyeliner
So back to work, and this is what I wore:
Purple and black brocade slacks from Carlisle, and my Suzanne Somers Three Way poncho. This poncho gets shorter every time I wash it. But I never understood how it could be worn as a dress, anyway.
Here's a better look at the pattern on the pants.
And my Gucci horsebit belt.
On my right arm, two silver/ amethyst bracelets, an amethyst/diamond ring, and a blue topaz/sapphire band.
On my left arm, a clear Austrian crystal bracelet, and another amethyst ring.
Now that we are all caught up, some mega-linking!!!
