Back to work on September 5th. I dug around in my closets and drawers to find stuff to wear that I will decide to keep or toss. First up:
This is a pair of almost white slacks from Ann Taylor. They're old and not in the best shape, so I will toss them after this summer. The top is forest green polyester satin with ivory crochet. It was comfy and I got compliments, so it will stay.
Jacki Brown sits at the edge of the pool and dangles her legs in. Sometimes she drinks the water and sometimes she blows bubbles.
The general public liked my September 6th outfit better than I did. I am wearing pale pink slacks from White House Black Market and another polyester satin top.
I wore either this St John jacket or my exam coat over this. I got a lot of compliments. I think the problem for me is that I didn't like the shoes. I needed higher heels because the pants bagged at my ankles. Keep both.
Jacki likes to sit on top of this little patio table that Mimi gave us. She will soon be too big to sit on it.
On September 7th, I wore a silk wraparound skirt with an embroidered chiffon sleeveless shell. Comfortable and nice under the exam jacket that I wear. Keep both.
Jacki sits on the pool steps and chills. She swims like an otter. She loves any kind of water, even puddles.
I put up two Halloween decorations. I have a Day of the Dead solar spike light and a new creepy sign for the front door.
On September 11th, I took Jacki for her first big girl walk. It was a Monday, I was off, and the housekeeper was at our house. So, we went to a nearby school that has been closed and turned into a park. It rained and we got a bit wet.
I got my September Ipsy bag, and the theme was Hispanic Heritage Month. From top to bottom:
1) Beau Babe Beauty Deep Bronze Highlighter
2) Reina Rebelde On Your Face Finishing Powder in Almendra.
3) Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation in Medium Neutral - very heavy coverage. I'm not sure I like it.
4) Shaina B Miami Lip Gloss in Besitos
5) Colour Pop Lipstick in What If
6) Shades by Shan Tapered Crease Brush
On September 12th, I gave the Ann Taylor slacks another spin to maximize the wear I got from them. I wore them with a sky-blue tank top from Old Navy, and this scarf thing that I got at Nordstrom. It can be tied many different ways, as a top or a scarf or a pareo.
It looked really pretty but was somewhat uncomfortable. My jewelry was nice. I'm going to keep it, but I will tie it differently next trip out.
I got my Birchbox. Their new customer service is so much better than it was. No more fancy boxes, but I still have many left over. From Left to right:
1) Korres Foaming Cream Cleanser with Greek Yogurt
2) Dermatologists Choice pH Balanced Cleanser
3) Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing and Dark-Circle-Diminishing Vitamin C Eye Serum
4) Comfort Zone Essential Illuminating and Exfoliating Scrub.
5) Arrow Under Eye Brightening Serum
This is a typical Jacki dinner bowl. Two scoops of meat and rice kibble, one beefy chew stick, one treat, and three Milk Bones. The packages say one treat daily per five pounds of dog. Since Jacki weighs forty-two pounds now, she gets nine treats. There are only five here, but I have stepped it up.
My wooden hamper fell apart so I got a woven one from Amazon. My life is pure excitement.
On September 13th, I wore a bright pink peasant top from H&M with a self-made skirt.
I wore black accessories and jewel toned jewelry for a nice accent. I loved this outfit.
Here is the final version of my bathroom. New sink! No tile or grout anywhere.
The long counter is likewise topped with this laminate top in a Caracara marble imitation. Easy care, doesn't stain like marble, no grout to discolor.
I rehung all the art.
This is a new piece for the bathroom - I had it in another room. I like it better here.
Here's a closeup of the sink - various body sprays to the left and foaming soap and lotion to the right.
September 14th's outfit was fun. It had a Victorian funeral vibe - I had two skirts picked out but went with Ann Taylor black lace. The top is Nicole Miller and is embellished satin. I finished it off with pearl sandals.
On September 15th, I wore my All-Star Favorite Number One jumpsuit! It's from Calvin Klein, and it's probably the most comfortable and versatile thing I own. I am taking it to the conference in Boston in mid-October. I take it on every work trip.
I wore a tweed and crystal studded jacket from Carole Little on top.
We took Jacki for a long walk, and she looked dead when we got home.
On September 19th, I wore some vintage ivory pleated slacks with a nubby top from Worthington. On top, a pale green embroidered silk jacket from Helena Sorel. I got it at a consignment shop in Philadelphia.
On Wednesday the 20th, I wore a suit from Moschary. The jacket is ivory and black, very finely constructed. The slacks have ivory stitching down the legs and at the yoke.
Yesterday, the twenty-first day of September (Earth Wind and Fire song) I wore a vintage shirtdress that I got at our local Discovery Shop. The shop benefits the American Cancer Society.
I wore black suede boots from Tahari and a black twill jacket from Ron Leal, a Canadian designer.
Pandi loves Milk Bones. I tossed four down - two for Pandi and two for Vinni. She corralled all the biscuits and horked them down.
I got two new rugs - one for the kitchen and one for Doc's bathroom.
We got our COVID boosters today. We got flu shots last week. I am going to ID Week in Boston on the 9th - 18th of October, and I want to have maximum prevention on board. We will stay for three days after the conference, for sightseeing and all that. I have amassed $450 from VISA bonuses and am giving that to Doc to spend on books in Boston.
Until then, Jacki's progress will be monitored. She played with the neighbor's Doberman, Peanut today. Stay tuned!!
