Smashingly. The cover is a beauty. The company, Patios by B and B, did a great job. They came on time, worked hard, cleaned up after themselves, and were generally respectful and pleasant. Now for the unveiling - a tour of the North 40 at Casa de Holtzman.
Ain't she purdy?? This picture was taken by the lower curve of the pool. You can see the steps leading out, and the French doors into the house. Everything is now white vinyl - windows, doors, patio, gutters. The yellow basket holds the dog toys. There are two rose bushes and an agapanthus visible.
Now we will rotate clockwise around the yard. Let's get ready to ruummmbbbllleee! This is the planter that is to the right of the patio. I have a yellow rose, a red gerbera daisy and a volunteer that I think is Milk Weed.
In this corner, there is a giant bouganvillea. Most of the year, it drips huge clusters of hot pink flowers. I have it trimmed every 6 months. I don't do it myself, because there are gigantic thorns on it. Between it and the fig tree (which isn't visible) there is an Adirondack bench to sit on. To the left, that trunk belongs to an apple guava tree. Those are delicious.
This picture shows the next section of the yard. There are two jade plants and a big pepper tree. That tree sheds alot, and really isn't a good choice by a pool. But it does provide some nice shade. There are also two trellises - one has a huge burnt orange foxglove, and the other has lillies.
This is a look at the firepit. I built it a few years ago. We have used it a lot for bonfires. It's three bricks tall, and 4 x 4 ft in size. It has two more adirondack chairs, and a carriage lamp on a post that is electric.
This is a view of the pool longways. Or lengthwise. Whichever is correct. See the sorta stained brick wall? That comes down and gets replaced with a nice white vinyl lattice box on July 3. I have to have a leak replaced, so that is the perfect time to do it.
Then when we round the corner, we have this view, with all the palm trees. I have a couple of lounge chairs that I use during the summer, but I have to haul them inside when I'm not using them. If we turn the last corner, we have the dog run (which is nothing to see, even when clean.) But the dogs love it. It's big and wide, and the garden window in the kitchen sticks into there, so they can hear us inside the house. There is an enormous tangerine tree back there. It pumps out fruit like nobody's business. More Adirondack chairs.
And last, but not least, I promised you a look at the King Kool Pool lounge. Here it is, a-floatin' away. See Kenni checking it out? He always acts like he wants to jump on it, but that would be a disaster. His toenails would pop it in 5 seconds flat. The King Kool has a backrest with a pillow, a cup holder, and a hole that you can put your legs through and dangle them in the water.
So where was Kenni all day Sunday? Well, he got a bath, and ran around the pool, and generally caused a ruckus. But then, he is so cute when the battery finally runs down. Don't you agree?
HOLIDAY WEEKEND UPDATE: The pool is all rehabbed. The guy who fixed the pump suggested that I keep the block wall and just paint it to cover the mysterious stains. He said they are probably from pool chemicals. So on the 4th, I floated in my King Kool and read my book. Kenni and Elli likewise enjoyed the beautiful weather - it was about 80 degrees and sunny. Here's Elli sunning herself
The next thing you know, Kenni came out to keep her company, and gave her a big fat holiday smooch
And they both send big wet holiday kisses to everyone out there!!!
