Werkin' It

Since we have a lot of flex days here at the hospital, due to the holidays, I didn't have time to post yesterday, so today you get another two for one. Here is what I wore yesterday:

This is a beautiful Jones New York wool shift. It has a self belt with a big gold pilgrim buckle, and a draped feature down the left side. I bought it specifically to go with the Bob Mackie Wearable Art jacket you see here.

Since the jacket has a kind of band member vibe, I wanted something simple and elegant to go with it, and this dress was perfect.

I wore my Joan Rivers statement necklace, since it was another perfect match.

On my left arm, two sapphire bracelets and my yellow gold wedding set.

On my right arm, another sapphire bracelet and a diamond/sapphire ring.

PS: I loved this outfit. It was so elegant and also comfy.

Onto today. Here is another classy and comfy look:

This is a Calvin Klein sweater knit dress with a gold front zipper and a collar that can be worn wing style or as a turtleneck. I paired it with a gold and black Hermes belt.

I wore two necklaces - one purple Austrian crystals and one gold herringbone.

On my right arm, a topaz costume ring and two amethyst bracelets.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set, a gold bracelet, and another amethyst bracelet.

Black Friday Fun

I had two missions for Black Friday - one was to replace two picture frames that broke during the poltergeist stuff, and the other was to support a good cause and get myself some new things as a bonus. I asked Elli if she would like to join me.

I think you can guess the answer. First, I went for a run in HB Central Park. As I was rounding the lake, I saw something in the water. Is it the Loch Ness monster?

As I ran, I got a better look.

Just a big white pelican, taking a break from the nearby ocean.

I went to Hobby Lobby for the frames.

I got this small jeweled one for the picture we used for my mom's memorial service. The old one fell off a desk under mysterious circumstances, about 2 months ago.
Then I had this picture, from 2003 or 2004. It didn't fall . It was at my mom's apartment. It had a crappy frame, and it was not centered. So I trimmed it from an 8 x 10 to a 5 x 7.

The frame I chose looked like stained glass. it is glass, but the colors are made from film put over the glass.

The last poltergeist casualty was a collage type frame that had a bunch of pictures of my puppies in it. I found a cool distressed type frame.

Here is the wall it hangs on. I like the look. See the picture of the young lady on the right?

This is Doc's grandma, Aurora. He is named after her. This was taken in 1929, when she was 16.

I also fixed two lamps, and reframed a pastel that had been tilted. Then I went to the Working Wardrobes Warehouse Outlet sale. This is a charity that provides suits and dresses for women to wear during interviews and for their new jobs. Once or twice a year, they open their warehouse to the public to try and raise funds by selling some of the donated items. I found 5 dresses, a skirt, a pair of boots and a workout tape. Away we go!! I don't really know how much each item cost. I spent about $45 for all of this stuff. The boots were $10 -  I do remember that much.

I actually found a Firm tape that I didn't already own !!! I tried it yesterday, and it is a nice 30 minute sculpting workout.

Then I got this F21 scuba peplum dress. I definitely do not need another black dress, but another shopper said I should try it on. I did, and it looked great. so I got it.

Here's a closeup - princess seams, sweetheart neckline, and peplum.

Then I got a black sheath with gold studs. It is made by Nicki Minaj - I didn't know she made clothes.

It is heavy jersey knit with a back exposed gold zipper.

I found a nice Loft sweater dress. It is navy and maroon. It has a ribbed waist,

I have this same dress (practically, very close) in grey lace. It is super comfy and always gets compliments, so I got the navy version.

I think the grey one has turned over hems, but this version has picot edging.

And I found a soft and very stretchy New York and Company dress with interest at the waist/neckline.

It twists and drapes right at about the solar plexus.

Last of the clothing items is a Loft skirt that is black and pale tan horizontal stripes.

it also has abck zipper with a grosgrain pull.

And then, the boots. I have this same pair already, and have always dreaded the day they would wear out. So now I have the replacements!!

Holiday Horsepower

We had our Holtzman family dinner one day early, on Wednesday. This is what I wore:

I combined a F21 knit top with tonal beading and sheer hem and sleeves with an Antthony Designs lace skirt. My Paloma Picasso belt provided a nice touch.

My necklace was a burgundy pearl/copper faceted bead piece from Stein Mart.

On my left arm, my Coleen Lopez garnet ring, and two bracelets - one was garnets only, and was my mom's, and the other was garnet/opa;, given to me by my mom for my 40th birthday.

All my grandkids wanted a ride in my new car. Kids LOVE convertibles.

First up was Preston - we watched the roof open and then took a little spin while listening to Led Zeppelin.

Then Benjy had to get a turn sitting in the seat.

After that came Joseph.

Last but never least, Calista.

Then, all three of them crammed themselves into the seat.

Here is the view from the front windshield.

After a delicious dinner of ham, potatoes au gratin, green bean casserole, rolls, salads, yams, and pie, we went down to the HB Pier. Doc and I parked about 1 mile away, and walked back and forth. We all had a beverage at Ruby's before Luke, Ashley, and Preston took off for home. The freeways in SoCal are a nightmare on holiday weekends.

The next day, which was Thanksgiving Day, Doc and I hit the track for some drinkin' and bettin'. Well, we made some bets anyhow. this is what I wore:

This outfit is a Style and Co lurex knit sweater and some WalMart pajama jeans legginigs.

My INC tassel necklace seemed like the perfect touch.

On my right arm, the bracelet that matches the necklace I wore yesterday. I didn't remember the bracelet in time to wear them together.

On my left arm, a mustard/black suede cuff.

Here I am at the entrance to the Los Alamitos Race Course.

Since it was Thanksgiving, there was no live racing - we watched the action at Del Mar from the screens.

The inner track looked just like Del Mar, with a water feature and the odds board.

As you can see, the grandstand was largely empty, but there were lots of gamblers inside, betting on the various tracks around the country.

Here I am, posing with a winning ticket and my dough. Here's how it broke down:

Race 1: Evolve to win (35 to 1) - Doc bet $10 and lost. Evolve was dead last.
Eichel to place (3 to 1) - Rosie bet $2 and lost. Eichel showed.

Race 2 : Tiz Jolie to win (5 to 1) - Doc bet $2 and lost. Tiz Jolie came in fourth.
Broadway Nika  to win (9 to 1) - Rosie bet $2 and lost. Broadway Nika placed.

Race 3 : Poshky (3 to 1) Terry's Tom Girl (7 to 1) and Sky Preacher (7/2) all to place - We bet together. Poshky won, and Sky Preacher placed. Terry's Tom Girl was next to last. We got $6.60.

Race 4: Drover Crazy (9/2) and Bolita Boyz (12 to 1) both to place by Rosie. Doc bet $10 on Anxious Times (23 to 1) and he came in dead last. Drover Crazy won and Bolita Boyz came in third, so Rosie got $4. 40.

After that. we stopped across the street at Katella Deli and had lunch at the counter. I had the chopped liver appetizer and Doc had salad bar. They were showing the American Kennel Club Dog Show, and this sweet old man and I commented on the beautiful dogs and showed each other pictures of our dogs. He was up from Dana Point to see his wife, who lives in a nearby facility. He was very old and very nice, and when we left, he shook Doc's hand.

Well, tomorrow has lots of shopping planned. I need to get  some picture frames, and other stuff, and I will be sure to show you everything I buy, so stay tuned!!!
