This is what I wore to talk to my Director about some new plans that I wanted to put in place as far as my job goes. More on that later.
This is a cute little dress that is from some fast fashion brand.
It has a smocked area around the waist and a real drawstring at the neckline. Very cute and comfy. I wore it with my Moda platform booties and brown tights.
On February 22nd, it was cold and gloomy out. I decided to spice things up a bit with my gold brocade jacket. The brand is Charles Gray London.
Doing a little dance here.
Underneath, I wore black velvet jeans and a black cashmere turtleneck. Both are from Facconable.
I wanted to wear this silk scarf from Versace. I think I have scarves from most of the big designers. My jet tassel necklace and a shorter gold necklace completed the entirely black/gold combination.
The next day was a time of more gloom, so I wore a favorite dress from Donna Morgan.
It has ruching on the side. I wore my trusty Tahari boots with it.
The usual suspects - Hermes CDC and Gold link bracelet, along with a plastic waterfall necklace that is so cool, despite being plastic.
Thursday, February 24th, saw the rain we have been hoping for. So I wore a toasty combo. This is a Joan Vass sweater, some Old Navy brown corduroy jeans, and Coach boots.
Here's a closer look at the boots.
I wore a LV belt and a costume necklace made of fleur de lis that I got in New Orleans, of course.
On Friday, I had some negotiation sessions regarding my future. I wore a Neiman Marcus sweater dress.
On top, I wanted to wear my logo Gucci scarf.
So I decided on a red leather jacket and deep green booties. I think I have all of the Gucci colors covered.
On Monday, February 28th, I wore something that I bought a long time ago and actually forgot about during the pandemic.
It is a crepe jumpsuit by Julia Jordan that I got at Stein Mart before they went out of business.
It had not been hemmed, so I used a black velvet cinch belt to hold it up off of the ground. My leather jacket is also from Stein Mart. It has reptile and crystal trim. The brand is Lean Gabrielle.
Everyone loved this outfit, although jumpsuits and going to the bathroom don't mix too well. I was careful to keep the top part out of the toilet bowl this time.
On March 1st, we will once again be in the high 70s at the beach. I went for total comfort. This is a Cable and Gauge sweater and a pair of plain black slacks from Reebok.
This shot shows me trying something new. Usually I set the timer on my camera for 10 seconds, but I tried the 3 second choice. I have to hop back into place really quickly for this to work.
Here is a better look at the sweater and my mom's red crystal pineapple necklace. It's from Kenneth Jay Lane.
Then we had a 2 day heat wave again. Our weather has been a little weird - warm, then cool. Anyway, I wore this scuba fit and flare dress from Forever 21.
I ate something that gave me a gas belly. It didn't go away until I drank a ton of water. My shoes are from White House Black Market.
On top, one of my favorite sweaters from Barami that was a gift many years ago from a dear friend and boss. In 2019, he was murdered, so now the things he got me as gifts are even more precious.
On March 2nd, we had a wild fire out in the Holy Jim Canyon area. That is due east from Huntington Beach, about an hour away. The Santa Ana winds will take advantage of any spark. Luckily, it rained on Thursday and Friday, and the fire was extinguished.
For the cool rainy day, I wore a shirtdress from Millenium that I found at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop. The tag looks like it is from the 1980s.
I wore my Tahari boots and my Neiman Marcus moto jacket.
I also wore another vintage item - this goldtone collar with cabochons of various colors.
My Blossom Peacock amaryllis is going crazy -every day there are more flowers on it.
It's huge.
On Friday, it was still raining. We had to get our income taxes done that day. It was a little painful, but this is the last year that we will be making a lot of money. Doc retires in April, and I will get to me in a bit.
I also had to hand out fruit to the staff on night shift, so I worked from 1 pm to 9 pm. I wore my crepe dress from A New Day.
It has lace trim at the yoke and the wrists. I wore a camel suede belt and matching booties from Top Moda.
My burgundy tights were diamond windowpane patterned.
The have been remodeling HB Central Park.
They built this huge playground with a zip line and everything!!!
Well, onto the changes as far as my job goes. When my mom died in 2016, I had to continue working full time to pay her bill. She was in a nice place that she had lived in for five years, but 24 hour total care cost $8000 a month. I had to pay the bill by myself, (my brother was not in the position to help),so I would go to work, then go to her place and sit with her all night. She would be turned every two hours, which is good, but she would yell and scream. Then I would get up at 4 am to drive the half hour home, change clothes and go back to work.
I did that for seven weeks and it almost killed me. Now my in-laws are needing more help, and I cannot do that again, although there is not the money pressure that I had with my mom. So on April 17th, I will be going to part time. I still need to work because I carry our medical insurance. Doc will get Medicare in October, and then I only have myself to worry about.
It was not easy to convince my superiors that I needed this. Finally, after I had secured an offer for a different job with the hours I needed, they agreed. I did not threaten them - I just told them that even though I would love to stay, if I couldn't get a reduction in hours, then I would need to accept the other offer. It was stressful but it all worked out.
So that's about it for now. Hopefully, things will quiet down a bit and we can get to a peaceful place again. I have faith in God and he has not yet let me down. That is very comforting. Stay tuned !!!
