I accomplished two big thrifting trips for this edition of my blog. The first was at our smaller local Salvation Army. Doc wanted to go and look for books, so I tagged along. Of course, I found a few things.
First up, this intarsia sweater from Ann Taylor. is has a pattern that looks like all types of exotic animals mixed together.
I wore it with ivory pleated slacks on July 18th, as a work outfit.
I also picked up this J Crew summer dress. It's made of very nice fabric and is fully lined.
I wore it to work on July 19th.
I then found this Pleated skirt from Banana Republic.
I wore it to work on July 20th, with a chiffon peasant top from Guess, and Target gladiator sandals.
Finally, I picked up a couple of odds and ends - a collar and leash set for Jacki to use when she gets bigger, a workout DVD, and a book about the COVID epidemic written by Sanjay Gupta.
Sanjay Gupta was the medical correspondent for CNN for a time. He is frequently the keynote speaker at the Infectious Disease conferences that I have attended in the past. I am going to one in Boston in October, and I plan to bring the book and fan girl him if I see him. I hope to get it signed. It tells the story of what really happened without all the political baloney about how the pandemic started, accurately shows how a vaccine is developed and how reaching herd immunity transformed the pandemic from a lethal disease to a manageable endemic virus like the flu. No calling the vaccine the "Clot-shot" and no derogatory views of modern vaccinology. My counterpart at work got his Masters of Public Health in vaccinology, and he and I are weary of all the poorly informed Monday morning quarterbacks who clamored for the vaccine and now want to criticize the way in which people's lives were SAVED BY SCIENCE. Okay, enough from me on that controversial topic.
Back to puppies and clothes. I finally got the Birchbox that I had been owed since October 2022. They were purchased by another company and fulfilled the orders that the old customers had paid for.

Jacki still sleeps in interesting ways. She no longer has to be contained in the front room. She sleeps in her basket in the pen next to my bed and spends her days out in the backyard.
On July 21st, I wore a vintage tiered silk sundress.
I wore vintage accessories with it - a woven belt and a Joan Rivers convertible necklace.
We had a visitor at the hospital who decided to move into the tree next to the Emergency Department.
He or she was not happy.
Jacki continues to be a labrador retriever. She is currently obsessed with the pillows on the outdoor furniture. They are known for chewing on everything and having an insatiable appetite. Jacki fits that description.
After she has rearranged everything, she goes to sleep on her new creations.
On July 24th, I spaced out and forgot to take my outfit pictures at home, so I posed in my office. I wore white drawstring pants and a chiffon top in ombre watercolors that I got in Montreal.
The jewelry reflects the aesthetic.
On July 25th, I wore slacks from White House Black Market with a floral swing style tank top.
This was a pretty, cool, and comfy outfit.
On July 26th, I wore one of my favorite hot weather outfits. This scarf print top is from Cynthia Rowley. I wore it with slinky knit slacks from Antthony.
We have been teaching Jacki to swim. She has webbed paws and the double coat, so her genetics have prepared her. See her lurking behind Doc as he swims?
On July 27th, I wore a vintage sundress from Mary McFadden. I always wear a ton of turquoise jewelry with this wonderful dress.
On my walk at lunchtime, I saw a bunch of fire department vehicles racing toward the freeway. It turned out to be a camper on fire on the nearby 405 freeway.
On July 29th, there was the semi-annual $2 sale at Salvation Army. Here are the spoils:
Four pairs of shorts - I am the shorts destroyer, so I get them at a thrift whenever possible. I got three athletic pairs and one casual pair.
Pandi always inspects our purchases. They must win her approval.
I found three tops - like the shorts, I have destroyed my workout tank tops. I liked the UCI shirt, since Doc went there.
I found this embellished sweater for next winter. A good out-of-season find!
Then, some casual lounge pants. The bright blue ones are Calvin Klein.
The final items that I got for myself were four dresses - one pink floral, one babydoll, one heathered knit utility style, and one basic black slipdress.
Pandi needed to inspect the shorts I found for Doc. Two casual knit pair, and one Reebok swimsuit.
And the long sleeve T-shirts as well. Everything passed inspection.
The girls' milkshakes bring boys to the yard!

Some not-so-adorable stuff - she chewed through the cable on the outside of the house. A nice guy from Frontier just fixed it. The service at that company is horrible - it takes over an hour on hold to get an appointment, but their service man was wonderful.
On Tuesday, August 1st, I wore layered tanks from Kohl's with the white drawstring pants from last week. Black floral, gold, and green.
My jewelry had a tropical theme as well.
My Wednesday lunch - rice with eggplant and tomato compote on top, along with chicken tenders and sour cream/honey mustard dip. Delicious!
On Wednesday, August 2nd, I wore a tribal print mesh dress from Taylor.

A swimming lesson picture. I have been cutting up hamburger patties to use as rewards. we are teaching Jacki to swim to the steps from anywhere in the pool.
Yesterday, Augustly 3rd, I wore a dress from Ovi that I picked up at the Salvation Army's Memorial Weekend sale. This is the second time I have worn it, and it always get compliments.
Last night, I met a friend at the Orange County Fair. We saw Ziggy Marley and the Wailing Souls.
I wore white leggings and a white tank from Nordstrom. On top, the poncho that I got in Hawaii at the Aloha Bowl swap meet.

I got there a little early so I could walk around and do some shopping. I loved these longhorn oxen.
Then I walked through the Crafter's Village.
These lamp shades were gorgeous!!! Maybe I will get one next year.
I got a name tag for Jacki. She is not chipped yet. That's the only thing I bought.
I cruised through the Veteran's Exhibit to take a look at the commemorative wall and the jet.
They had an interesting exhibit in which they blew up various album covers.
Love me some Tom Jones.
One of the coolest things was behind the Pacific Amphitheater. They have let all kinds of burros, donkeys, llamas and other herbivores graze along the embankment. When the music started, all the animals left and went back to their barn. I guess they are not reggae fans.
The little donkey reminded me of Jenny from the Banshees of Innisshirrin. I was standing next to a lady who also saw the movie. We both found the movie disturbing. But we both liked the movie.
Here are a few photos of Ziggy performing. He is so talented, and he does a variety of his own hits, as well as hits done by his father, the late great Bob Marley. It was a great concert! I saw him a couple of years ago, and Toots and the Maytals were the opening act. I didn't catch the name of last night's opening act, but they were fine.
I had to wait about 20 minutes before an Uber driver could be located to get home, so I walked around the fairway a bit.
My friend gave me these favors from her daughter's wedding.
