All That Glitters is Indeed Gold

Over the years, I have collected a number of glittery, sparkly items. I have never restricted their wearing to the holiday season, but I will admit that they appear daily DURING the holidays. So today, I will show you two glittery, gold outfits. First, on Tuesday:

This is a Style and Co cowl neck sweater, worn over an Ann Taylor plaid skirt with gold lurex. The reason I am awkwardly holding my Baby Phat handbag is because I herked coffee on myself, and then attempted to mop up with water, leaving a huge wet spot. So Doc suggested this fix.

The action shot for the win. I wore one of my mom's Joan Rivers convertible necklaces, this time with the black cabochon.

On my left arm, my Hermes CDC and my yellow gold wedding set.

On my right arm, a tiny diamond X ring, a gold bracelet, and a lab created emerald tennis bracelet.

Today, more gold lurex, less herking of coffee. This is my ancient Express pull on pants, a Quiksilver black tunic with gold studs, and a Jones New York ombre cardi.

I wore my ancient Avon mesh bib necklace. One of the best purchases I ever made, back in the late 70s.

On my right arm, the little X ring again, and a tricolor gold bracelet.

On my left arm, a Betsy Johnson leopard bangle and my yellow gold rings.

A Restful Weekend

It all started with the neighborhood party on Friday night. It was fun and I brought home a plate of goodies:

The next morning, I got up and made Doc some French toast. He brought home a loaf of Boudin Sourdough on Friday. I don't know where he gets these random loaves of bread, but he does.

Then we went to the HB library so I could return some books. Doc shopped for Xmas gifts for the kids inside at the used book store while I went on my run around the park.

Our neighbors from the frozen north are visiting. There is an overabundance of Canada geese hanging out.

Look at the library's Xmas tree!! So cute.

Then we stopped at Marshall's because they always have cool imported food around the holidays.
I got this box of nougat.

I also got an orange and chocolate cream filled Panettone and some pistachio biscotti, which have already disappeared.

And finally, some lemon creme filled wafers.
So her is what I am wearing today:

The crepe blouse is the top part of a vintage suit from Patra that I got in Santa Barbara. You will be able to see the top part later. The chiffon skirt is from INC.

The jacket has chiffon ruffle trim and is by  Nipon Boutique.

Here's a look at the top of the blouse. I wore a simple silver necklace with stations.

On my right arm, an amethyst tennis bracelet and an amethyst/opal ring.

On my left arm, another amethyst/opal ring and a silver bracelet.

And that's it for today, so let's link !!

Let the Games Begin

Tonight will be the first of many holiday parties for me. This is a casual neighborhood bash, so it will be low key - no sparkles and glitter, but that will be coming.

Anyhow, this is what I wore yesterday:

This is an Ann Taylor cashmere blend shift dress. I am wearing it with my very old Worthington grey suede boots that I love.

On top, I have a maroon ruffled cardi from Style and Co. They were dirt cheap at the after Xmas sales last year. I got two colors, since they were something like $7.99.

My purple statement necklace was my mom's, and it is a Joan Rivers number.

On my right arm, two amethyst bracelets, and a Roman style ring with a garnet and enamel.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set, another amethyst/diamond bracelet, and a turquoise/tanzanite bracelet.

Onto today.

I have my favorite black slacks, my favorite black turtleneck, and the jacket from a St John suit. It has a matching skirt, but I have only worn them together for Easter once. It's a lot of yellow.

My little emerald and diamond necklace makes a nice accent.

On my right arm, an emerald/diamond ring and a stretchy crystal bracelet from Saks.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set, a lab created emerald tennis bracelet, and a gold bracelet.

Werkin' It

Since we have a lot of flex days here at the hospital, due to the holidays, I didn't have time to post yesterday, so today you get another two for one. Here is what I wore yesterday:

This is a beautiful Jones New York wool shift. It has a self belt with a big gold pilgrim buckle, and a draped feature down the left side. I bought it specifically to go with the Bob Mackie Wearable Art jacket you see here.

Since the jacket has a kind of band member vibe, I wanted something simple and elegant to go with it, and this dress was perfect.

I wore my Joan Rivers statement necklace, since it was another perfect match.

On my left arm, two sapphire bracelets and my yellow gold wedding set.

On my right arm, another sapphire bracelet and a diamond/sapphire ring.

PS: I loved this outfit. It was so elegant and also comfy.

Onto today. Here is another classy and comfy look:

This is a Calvin Klein sweater knit dress with a gold front zipper and a collar that can be worn wing style or as a turtleneck. I paired it with a gold and black Hermes belt.

I wore two necklaces - one purple Austrian crystals and one gold herringbone.

On my right arm, a topaz costume ring and two amethyst bracelets.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set, a gold bracelet, and another amethyst bracelet.

Black Friday Fun

I had two missions for Black Friday - one was to replace two picture frames that broke during the poltergeist stuff, and the other was to support a good cause and get myself some new things as a bonus. I asked Elli if she would like to join me.

I think you can guess the answer. First, I went for a run in HB Central Park. As I was rounding the lake, I saw something in the water. Is it the Loch Ness monster?

As I ran, I got a better look.

Just a big white pelican, taking a break from the nearby ocean.

I went to Hobby Lobby for the frames.

I got this small jeweled one for the picture we used for my mom's memorial service. The old one fell off a desk under mysterious circumstances, about 2 months ago.
Then I had this picture, from 2003 or 2004. It didn't fall . It was at my mom's apartment. It had a crappy frame, and it was not centered. So I trimmed it from an 8 x 10 to a 5 x 7.

The frame I chose looked like stained glass. it is glass, but the colors are made from film put over the glass.

The last poltergeist casualty was a collage type frame that had a bunch of pictures of my puppies in it. I found a cool distressed type frame.

Here is the wall it hangs on. I like the look. See the picture of the young lady on the right?

This is Doc's grandma, Aurora. He is named after her. This was taken in 1929, when she was 16.

I also fixed two lamps, and reframed a pastel that had been tilted. Then I went to the Working Wardrobes Warehouse Outlet sale. This is a charity that provides suits and dresses for women to wear during interviews and for their new jobs. Once or twice a year, they open their warehouse to the public to try and raise funds by selling some of the donated items. I found 5 dresses, a skirt, a pair of boots and a workout tape. Away we go!! I don't really know how much each item cost. I spent about $45 for all of this stuff. The boots were $10 -  I do remember that much.

I actually found a Firm tape that I didn't already own !!! I tried it yesterday, and it is a nice 30 minute sculpting workout.

Then I got this F21 scuba peplum dress. I definitely do not need another black dress, but another shopper said I should try it on. I did, and it looked great. so I got it.

Here's a closeup - princess seams, sweetheart neckline, and peplum.

Then I got a black sheath with gold studs. It is made by Nicki Minaj - I didn't know she made clothes.

It is heavy jersey knit with a back exposed gold zipper.

I found a nice Loft sweater dress. It is navy and maroon. It has a ribbed waist,

I have this same dress (practically, very close) in grey lace. It is super comfy and always gets compliments, so I got the navy version.

I think the grey one has turned over hems, but this version has picot edging.

And I found a soft and very stretchy New York and Company dress with interest at the waist/neckline.

It twists and drapes right at about the solar plexus.

Last of the clothing items is a Loft skirt that is black and pale tan horizontal stripes.

it also has abck zipper with a grosgrain pull.

And then, the boots. I have this same pair already, and have always dreaded the day they would wear out. So now I have the replacements!!
