Rumplestiltskin Awakes!!!

Whenever a sport reaches the playoffs, there are suddenly a lot of people interested in watching the games. I haven't really been watching the NBA since the Clippers got eliminated, but last night was Game 1 of the finals. We got together with a couple of friends last night to work on our research project, and after we finished, we watched the end of the game at a local sports bar. Doc was hungry, and their food is pretty good for bar food. Well, that game didn't disappoint. Somehow, it's more fun when you don't care who wins.

So that makes 3 nights this week that I was out on a school night. And since it's Friday and I have no meetings, I decided to go a little more casual today:

I have on H&M cropped pants, a Twelve by Twelve cardigan, and two Limited tops that I layered. Here's the look without the cardigan.

The T on top has some embellishment in the form of a screen print with tonal crystals.

The top underneath is a sparkly, sequined covered tank. Here's all that you can see of that - a band around the hem.

The cardigan has seed beaded epaulets on the shoulders. They are leather, and it zips up instead of buttoning.

This color combo is one that I have worn before, and I like it. It also gave me the chance to wear my Christian Siriano flats that I got a while back, but never wore.

They have a gold pancake heel and the bow trim has gold edges with Christian Siriano written on them. The gold ties in my jewelry, which is mostly sapphire, with a few diamonds thrown in for good luck.

My necklace is sapphire on a thick gold chain. On my right arm, a mish mash of sapphire bracelets.

On my left, one sapphire and diamond bracelet, my wedding set, and my diamond tennis bracelet that finally got properly repaired.

Now I don't have to be afraid that I will lose it if I wear it. It hasn't been secure for a long time, so you can bet I will be wearing it a lot, to play catch up!!!

Fortunately, I finished work early yesterday afternoon, and since I have some comp time coming to me, I left, and was able to squeeze in a workout. I got three new DVDs.

I did Kathy Smith and Billy Blanks last night. I liked them both. I still have Firm It Up to try out this weekend. Onto the daily links!!!

First, Dawn Lucy from www.fashionshouldbefun.com is having Fun Fashion Friday. I would say that my casual getup is sorta fun. Also, Lauren from www.stylelixir.com is having Fab Favorites. Everything I am wearing is old (and a favorite) except the CS flats. Maybe they will make the favorites rotation!!! Have a great day, and see you all after the weekend!!!

A Bummer of A Summer?

We still have a couple of weeks until the official beginning of the season. Apparently, we still have a lot of work to do, because this is the corner office view this morning.

It's been drizzly here for the last couple of mornings. But because of the drought, drizzly is good.

What did I wear to get sprinkled on?

This is a vintage Moschary jacket and INC pants. I looked up Moschary to see what the provenance is, and apparently, it was a brand from the 80s. There was one jacket on Etsy that was $125.00, so I guess it was sold in the nicer stores.  Here's a look at the side of the pants, showing the topstitching detail.

Here's a better look at the jacket.

It has some pretty intricate seaming. Underneath it, I am wearing a satin top from JC Penney.

Let's get a better look at the top.

It has beading and trim around the empire waist, and ruching around the neckline. It also has tiny pleats all over the front and back.

With it, I wore my agate necklace that I got at a street fair last year.

On my right hand, a silver cable bracelet and a silver/mother of pearl ring.

One my left, three silver bracelets and the matching silver/onyx ring.

I chose my Enzo Angiolini gladiators to go with this getup.

The other night, my Estee Lauder representative, Magda, emailed me. There is a new gift with purchase offer.

It came in a big Lisa Perry tote with a sunglass case. Inside, there were some products.

I got the following:
1) Resilience lift night firming face and neck cream
2) Take It Away makeup remover
3) Super Bold Volume mascara
4) A matching lipstick and gloss in a dusty rose color

You had to spend $35, so this is what I got.

Double Wear Maximum Cover makeup. It has SPF 15, and is long wearing. I like full coverage foundation with a matte finish. Since it's long wear, you have to use moisturizer under it. She also threw in a ton of samples.

I got 4 packets of Nutritious Vitality 8 overnight cream and 2 packets of Vitality 8 Radiant Detox cream. I had $20 in free Macy's cash, so this haul cost me $17. That's less than drug store makeup prices !!

Thursday's links are here!!! First, Alice at www.happinessatmidlife.com for Throwback Thursday - one of my favorites, and Moschary fits right in. Then Nicole at www.highlatitudestyle.com has Top Of The World Style. She's fairly new to me, but she always has great outfits. Lastly, Tara at www.mixmatchfashion.com has Summer Style. She's a teacher, so it's summer for her ( but not for Huntington Beach just yet). Have a great day - I'm a tad tired from the party. But we have a great lecture today - Snake Bites, Spider Bites, Marine Life Stings and Insect Stings. I can't wait!!!

Tying Ends Together

What ends, you say, my friends??? Well, tennis class will end next week. There are 6 of us (maybe 8) who want to be together next class, so after class next week we are going to celebrate while we figure it all out. Then, tonight, I have a going away party to attend. The end of someone's time here at the hospital also needs tying up. I have to go right after work, so I decided to wear something nice. Feast your eyes:

My blazer is from Love 21, my skirt is from Style and Co, and my cashmere turtle is from Neiman Marcus. The jacket is a nubby tweed with gold lurex running through.

My skirt has gold metal detail on the slash pockets.

I wore two necklaces again today. The shorter one is chocolate and white diamonds.

The longer one is Austrian crystals. I ended up un-doubling it and wearing it long flapper style.
On my right hand, my Nordstrom boulder ring and two gold bracelets.

On my left, I doubled up on Swarovski - my Nirvana ring in Black Diamond, and my Platinum bracelet.

Of course, my Jessica Simpson nude T straps with the reptile trim were the perfect match.

More Sparkle and Silver!!!

Well, today I copied this outfit from another lady that I saw on TV on Sunday night. I knew that I had similar pieces in my enormous closet. I like how it turned out.

The top is by One Season, and I got it at Twice the Style in Newport Beach. The skirt is by Lily Cheung, and I got it at a sample sale up in LA. Let's get a closer look at the sequin appliques on the soft, roomy T.

The skirt has tonal crystals around the curved front pockets and down each side.

I wore this outfit with an infinity scarf that is soft jersey, printed to look like Chantilly lace.

I was out a little later than usual last night, with some friends from my old tennis class. Tonight, I play with my new class. The point is that I needed something easy and fuss free, and that's what I ended up with - YAY!!!

I wore my Audrey Brooke black and silver pumps. Even though they look treacherously high, they are extremely comfortable.

On my right hand, more black and silver, in the form of a marcasite ring that Luke and Ashley gave me and a Brighton bracelet that was a birthday gift from coworkers years ago.

On my left hand, I went for a little color. I wore a light blue topaz ring and a bracelet of larimar, citrine, freshwater pearl, and aurora borealis.

So let's link!!! Today we have a double whammy. Alice from www.happinessatmidlife.com (my regular on Thursday) and Jess from www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com are cohosting Turning Heads Tuesday. Then, Lauren from www.stylelixir.com is hosting Style Sessions. Somehow, I have been missing this one lately. Bad blogger. Lastly, www.walkinginmemphisinhighheels.com has Summer Shoes. I believe that black is a year round color, am I right? Well, have a good Tuesday, and we'll see you later!!

Dads and Grads

This weekend, it was grads. Our sweet little grandson, Preston, graduated from Kindergarten!! He got special awards for Outstanding Reading (like Grandpa Doc) and Outstanding Arithmetic (like Grannie Rosie). Not only is Preston super handsome, he is also super smart.(in my humble proud grannie opinion.). As my 95 year old mom says, "That kid is really good looking. He's going to be a handful as a teenager." Luke and Ashley have raised him to be polite, happy, grateful, and to want to try everything. So for his graduation, he wanted to play Laser Tag.

Remember, I got him two gifts while I was in Florida at Disney World. Since he has a Yorkie and a German Shepherd Dog, I wrapped each gift with one of his dogs. I got the pix from an old calendar. The Yorkie even has a mortar board.

First, we went to a gallery showing. As you may know, I am an amateur artist. One of my friends is much more professional. She had an exhibit of wildlife pictures she has painted. She is VERY prolific. Here is the display:

Doc's favorite was the desert foxes. (What does the Fox Say? )

Mine was the Night Owl Chicks.

Then, we played Laser Tag at Fuzions, a local HB venue that is similar to Dave and Buster's. First things first - here's Preston opening his gifts. He said the funniest thing. "Grannie Rosie - I thought I wasn't going to like what you got me, but I love it!!" SO FUNNY. Out of the mouths of babes......

Before Laser Tag, we had some drinks and played Air Hockey. Some of Luke's really cute, young friends came (dirty old lady here) and it was fun playing them. I don't look like I would be as good as I am at this stuff. I'm good. I gave them a challenge. First, they were going easy on me, but after 2 minutes, they were playing all out. I won two, and lost one.

Then we played a video game where you sit on a motorcycle and navigate hairpin turns. I totally sucked at this. I kept hitting the walls. Doc was surprisingly good - he hates to drive and he HATES motorcycles.

Then we played Laser Tag. That was HELLA FUN. We all loved it. I remember playing paintball, and that wasn't all that much fun. It hurt. Here is a picture of Great Grandma Mimi with Preston. We are so lucky to have sweet Ashley and Preston in our lives.

On Saturday, we went down to visit the 95 year old Angy. She likes to go to Wal Mart every couple of weeks. She drinks a ton of that International Coffee, and eats a lot of cookies and snacks (so that's where I got it). She still worries about her figure at 95. Anyhow, here's what I wore:

The silk dress is by H &M, the sandals are Prabal Gurung for Target. Here's a better look at these cute, red patent wedge sandals.

I also wore a vintage ivory cord belt. As I have mentioned before, some of the crap I bought new is now vintage. Ugh.

Note the tiny wedding band. I got that as my first wedding ring, many, many, many years ago. I still wear it every now and again. It has an infinity pattern with 3 tiny diamond chips. We were so poor back then, but I was thrilled with it, and still am.

As I was photographing my necklace, a weird thing happened. We sometimes watch those haunting shows, where paranormal phenomenon is captured on film. As I was taking a picture of my necklace that I got in Kansas City, this ball of hot white light appeared. Here it is. I wonder whose ghost it was.

Here's a picture of the new apartment complex that is going up across the street from Free Birds World Burrito. It has taken years, but it is almost complete. Doc said I should take a picture before it opens and a thousand more residents of HB are here.

So I wasn't hungry on Sunday morning. I knew that I had a limited amount of time before Doc got up and started bugging me to go to a restaurant. In order to work up an appetite, I busted these out:

I skated for 10 miles. Doc kept calling and asking where I was, so he would know where to look for my body.  That would be sick, except for an in-law of ours died that way. He got hit while jogging. I was okay.

I just finished reading this book. It won the Pulitzer Prize for Literature in 1988. There was an article in the United Airlines magazine about Toni Morrison. She got the Nobel Prize for literature in 1993.

So I had to read it. I found it quite weird, and had a bit of difficulty following the plot at times. It was an experience. My all time favorite book is still Memoirs of a Geisha.

Later on, we walked dogs and worked on our research project. I like to keep an old pillow around for my beloved, Elli, to lay in the sun on top of.

Onto today. Here's what I am wearing:

It's a vintage jacket by Suits Me, knit pants from Iman, and a gold lurex tank. Here's a better look at my belt, and the blue and gold trim on the jacket.

For my necklace, my matte gold with colored cabochons worked perfectly.

On my left hand, a red leather and goldtone cuff by INC, and a ruby cocktail ring.

On my right hand, the matching ring in sapphires, and two ruby and garnet bracelets.

Let's get linking!!The usual suspects. First, Cherie at www.stylenudge.com for Shoe and Tell. I am featuring my DiDe shoes from Nordstrom.

Then, Rachelle at www.pinksole.com is having How I Spring. Summer is just around the corner. Then, Rhea at www.rheaetcetera.com is hosting Style To Inspire. Let's hope that I do !!!
