Peelin' Away in Margartiaville

Aargh. I had this post all typed up, then I hit the wrong key and ERASED it. So I must try again.

Anyway. first the ViPeel. It started just like Dr L said, and has been peeling like crazy. It started around my chin and mouth, then moved to my nose, cheeks, and lastly, forehead. Now it's starting at the lips again for round 2. Here's the beginning:

This is 3 PM Friday. Later on that day, at 6 PM

The sheets of skin were a little larger. All this time, it didn't hurt at all, and itched about 2/10. Then on Saturday morning,

The skin sheets got larger and spread rapidly. It didn't hurt until Saturday night, after I washed it and put the hydrocortisone cream on it. Then it stung like the dickens. When I woke up this morning, it was still stinging and there were skin flakes in my hair. Right now, it's just tolerable. I put some makeup on to go to lunch with my mom, and it looks pretty good, but it stings. And I have a cold, so I am not the happiest camper on the block. Oh well.
Addendum : It is now Monday evening. All day today my face has peeled (in small flakes like a sunburn) , stung, burned, and itched. This is definitely not a comfortable procedure.

Anyway, On Friday night, as I was driving home, I saw that the Assistance League was having a sale, so of course, in I went. I got 4 items. First, these brown suede boots.

They are brand new, never worn. They have gold chain trim that is held together by gold circles with clear stones.

Pretty cool. I also got a brown knit bolero that is the identical match to the black/turquoise one I wore the other day. Both are made by INC.

The brown version has earth tone trim. I'm sure that I will get a lot of wear out of it, just like I have with the black/turq version.

Then I got a single knit, HEAVY weight jersey zip front jacket that has the most luxurious trim and perfect hardware.

Here's a close up of the trim.

Know why it's so nice? Because it was made by

I have a couple of warm up suits from Bloomingdale's, and in my opinion, they are the best quality out there - the knit is very substantial, and the trim is well made. They also launder beautifully. Lastly, I got the coolest retro jacket.

It's a longer band jacket type shape with a jewel neckline, a button front, and awesome embroidery all around. Here's a better look at that embellishment

Guess who made this beauty??

Bob Mackie Wearable Art!!! I have two other Bob Mackie pieces, and they are always memorable, and very nicely finished with lots of embellishments. Can't wait to wear this one.

So yesterday was bright and sunny and in the mid to high 70s. All the rain a couple of weeks ago really helped out my plants and flowers. I went out back to feed the boys, and saw my yellow rose.

I only planted this one a year or so ago, so I am happy that it already produces blooms. Well, Saturday was Elli and my 2 year anniversary of being together. I got her the promised gift - two chicken egg rolls from Panda Express.

I broke them up and put them on her tray with her regular food. She snarfed both of them, no questions asked. A little later, our grandson Preston called, and wanted us to come over and see his new German Shepherd Dog puppy, Annie.

she is 7 weeks old and very pudgy and soft and totally adorable.

Another sweet dog to join our family and spoil rotten. Later, Preston went to Supercross. He loves the girls.

I guess he had a favorite. He is a chip off the old block, that boy. Loves girls, like his pappy and grandpa.
Today, my mom took Doc and I out to brunch at the Hacienda On the Lake, in Mission Viejo, a city about a half hour south of Huntington Beach, and then inland a few miles. It's a manmade lake with large houses all around.

In the background, you can see the famous Saddleback Mountain. There were people paddleboarding and kayaking and cruising around on their Duffy boats. We went to the Lakeside Plaza - there are a couple of restaurants there, and some realtors, salons, physical therapy, and other small businesses.
You can really see the Saddleback Ridge in this one. The restaurant we went to was classic Sonoran style Mexican food - the popular kind, with tacos, enchiladas, tamales, rice and beans. I had machaca, which is shredded beef with onions, peppers, tomatoes, and eggs. It was served with potatoes, refried beans, fruit, Mexican sweet bread, chips and salsa, and champagne.

It was dee-lish!!! For an outfit, I was feeling less than creative due to my illness and my peeling. So of course, I wore my trusty Levis jeans. On top, I wore a crocheted poncho that is done in pink to fuchsia ombre.

It's very pretty. I got it at Nordstrom. I hope it distracted from my peely face. I wore a costume choker of gold tone and crystals.

I was feeling sick, so I took a nap pretty much all afternoon. Then we walked the dogs, and I kicked it again. Tomorrow, I sit second row center court at the Clippers versus Celtics game for MLK Day. I'll fill you in on another post.

I will use the purchase of those brown boots to link with Sheila at www.sheilaephemera.com
for Shoe Shine Saturday. Both my shoes and my face shone brightly!!!

All Hail The Lizard Queen

Well, the peeling has started, just like Dr L said it would. It started very slightly around my mouth and nose. Today, my face feels 4 sizes too small (very tight) but it doesn't hurt. So I should be in full lizard mode by tomorrow.

To celebrate, I am wearing reptilian colors today. Let's take a look:

The plaid slacks are by Ideology, and the pleather/ponte jacket is from Modcloth. We'll get to that giant blossom of awesome in a minute. First, a better look at the slacks and the vintage chain belt with the large gold doohickey.

The ever present pedometer spices this look up a bit. Now, let's get a look at the olive green jacket.

I love the leopard lining. The ponte is on the sides under the armpit and the inside of the sleeves. That makes the jacket very easy to move around in. Sometimes pleather can be stiff. Now, onto that gold shell.

That is one big flower. The top is made by J Crew, and it's silk, metallic, linen and rayon. The best way I can describe the fabric is wooly silk. It's certainly striking. Since the flower is so huge, the only necklace I wore is a tiny yellow diamond pendant that was a gift from a friend.

This outfit was just screaming for my Charles Davis shoes. They match the colors in the plaid almost exactly.

So that's about it for today, except for the links. Two new ones today!!! First, we have Rebecca at www.xoxorebecca.com for Friday Blog Hop. Then, Vicki at www.mummysgotstyle.com for Fashion Friday. I will be checking these gals out.

One last tidbit - tomorrow will be my 2 year anniversary with my darling Elli. We will be getting her chicken egg rolls from Panda Express, since those are her all time favorite food!!! Pix to follow, for sure.

I'm Blue, Oh So Blue......

But not because of my face!! The little procedure wasn't painful at all. We will recap this experience. Here's the waiting room of the plastic surgeon's (Dr L) office. Very soothing and elegant.

While you are waiting, you sip sparkling water. You also sit next to the biggest display of proprietary skin products that I have ever seen.

Then I went into the treatment room and kicked it in a dentist type chair while Dr L did his magic.

He has a lot of diplomas. I have been going to him for maybe 10 years. He is conservative in his recommendations, and does top quality work.

So then he dabbed the solution of 4 different acids onto my mug. It stung a little, but nothing horrible. He concentrated on the cheek area, where most of my blotches and spots live. You get a kit along with the ViPeel to care for your face. I can't resume my normal skin care routine for 2 weeks.

It has 3 Retin A towelettes for the first 3 days. Then there is a thick zinc oxide sunscreen that I must wear when outdoors. Then there is a hydrocortisone lotion because my face will probably itch as it peels. Here's a closeup of my face about 2 hours after the acid. Doc said I looked like I had a sunburn.

See the dots and the dark pigmentation on my upper lip? Buh-bye (I hope). Today my face feels like it's about 2 or 3 sizes too small - very tight and a tiny bit stingy. But I can wear all my makeup.

When I finally got home, guess what was waiting for me???

A Let's Do This Birchbox!!!! Ever since I complained, they have been magnificent at sending my box on time. Good customer service. So what was in there?

1) Aquareveal Satin Bright Soft Water Face Peel - oh no. Can't use this for a while. If I could, I would have busted it out last night.
2) Coastal Scents Revealed Palette - four neutral shadows. Yay!!
3) COOLA Environmental Repair Plus Recovery After Sun Lotion - to use after unexpected sun exposure. Perfect.
4) Whish Three Wishes Body Butter - Lavender scent.
5) Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk - for second day or post gym hair. This will come in handy.

So all the contents are perfect for someone my age. This month, I went on line and chose my box. That seems to work out better.

So, the title??? Of course, my outfit!!!

I like this one, too!!! Except for Monday, a good style week for me!!! This is an INC skirt, a cashmere turtle, and a bolero (also by INC) trimmed in little faux turquoise stones. Here's a closeup of the skirt.

Of course, I have the perfect jewelry, starting with my cross necklace from the Southwest Indian Foundation.

On my left arm, a turquoise cuff and my Swarovski Nirvana in Indolite.

On the right, a ring from Luke, Ashley and Preston and another turquoise cuff.

All turquoise c/o Doc. I wore black and blue shoes. All I can read of the brand on the insole is Bettye. There's more, but it wore off. The perils of sweaty feet.

Two links today. First, sweet Alice at www.happinessatmidlife.com for Throwback Thursday. Alice rocks. Then, a new link, Linda Lou at www.a labouroflife.com, another classy cool lady like Alice. Show them some lovin' !!!

The End of The Beginning

We'll get to this cryptic title in a few. First, what am I wearing today?

All stuff you have seen before, combined in a new way. First, we have the leather sheath dress that I got at Neiman Marcus. Boy, am I glad that I kicked down for this thing!!! I have had it about a month, and have worn it three times already. It fits like a dream and has the coolest details.

It has a slight ostrich texture, princess and waist seams, two zip pockets and is fully lined. I believe it was on the order of 60% off. I would recommend this dress to anyone. Underneath it, I have an ivory chiffon blouse with ruffle cuffs from Speigel. To dress up this rather plain combo, I tied a black and red floral oblong scarf into a bow at my neckline.

This added a couple more colors to play off the accessories with. I took the opportunity to carry a red leather bag by Furlina.

Since the purse has silver hardware, I wore red and silver rings on both hands. On my left,

a pear shaped solitaire with a ruby band, and on my right,

a large fire opal. I wore the same tights and shoes as the last time I wore the leather dress.

Calvin Klein pilgrim shoes and black patterned tights. I love this outfit. I may try wearing this dress in warmer months to see if I can give it a different vibe. This one is punk pilgrim.

So anyway, the title. Tonight, I am going to the plastic surgeon to get a Vi-Peel. He will put it on at 4:30, then I will leave it on overnight and wash my face tomorrow morning. The peel comes with a kit of products to take care of my face afterwards. I will just be red and tight and stingy for a couple of days, and then the peeling will begin. I told my mom that if my face doesn't hurt too bad, we can reschedule our lunch date from last week. Also, I am going to the Clipper game on MLK day, and sitting courtside. Hopefully, I won't scare everyone off. I don't care about not being able to wear makeup for a couple of days. I can wear eye makeup. If it turns out half as good as the pictures Dr L showed me, I will be delighted. And you can bet that I will document every step of the journey. Here's to a less wrinkly, spotty, uneven, unglowing face!!!
