Well, our Halloween was kind of a non-event. The LA Dodgers are in the World Series, and last night was a make or break situation. So ZERO kids came to the door. That's okay, since we had the haunted bookcase the other day.
This is what I wore to give my coworkers a scare:
Easy twill slacks in chocolate brown, with a brown lurex cardigan and a velvet top underneath.
The top is half burgundy and half brown, with a gold, beaded trim at the empire waist.
My costume necklace matched perfectly - a triple strand of black, burgundy and gold faceted beads.
On my right arm, a Native American souvenir copper bracelet and two rings.
The rings are identical, except for one is garnet and one is citrine.
On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding rings and an INC stretch cuff.
Today, I have to be much less scary, since we are having another survey at the hospital, and professionalism is a must:
I have a pair of lightweight wool Jones New York tattersall slacks and a copper lurex polo from Joseph A.
On top, a wool crepe blazer from Premier. Sadly, it has significant wear on the pocket and cuffs, so this will be its last hurrah.
My Ann Taylor thin leopard belt is calf's hair print.
Here is a look at the embroidery on the blazer sleeves.
My costume necklace is also INC. It's rose gold tone, with darker large crystals.
On my right arm, just my creepy green ring from Nordstrom.
On my left arm, my Swarovski duo: the Nirvana ring in Black Diamond and the Infinity bracelet.

The Haunting
This weekend was consumed by Doc's birthday on Saturday and then our Haunted Bookcase party on Sunday. Here is the bookcase:
Doc has spent the last month stocking it up for the occasion. Our grandkids aren't allowed much candy, but they sure like books !!
I covered it with a black tablecloth and a black crocheted shawl. I put two candles on top and let King Rat rule over it all.
Here they are, waiting for me to lift the cover and let them see what is inside.
They each got three bags to fill - there was plenty of loot.
They were so excited. Both Doc and I wondered how this was going to go over, but it was a smashing success.
There was one book, Aesops Fables, that had a damaged cover. So I cut out all of the beautiful drawings and my MIL, Mimi, gave the kids sketch pads, so they could practice drawing animals.
Everyone had root beer floats at the end. Pandi got a little excited and a little clingy during this party. After everyone left, she stuck to me like glue. She even tried to crawl up under my velour jogsuit as I was watching the World Series.
For the neighborhood kids, I made three bags with quarters in them .
Today at work, we are having a retirement luncheon with a Taco Bar. This is what I am wearing for a day that finally feels like fall around here.
This is a silk wrap around skirt and a velour top. When I was digging around looking for Halloween decorations, I found a bag with 5 or 6 velour tops in it. They must be from the late 90s, but since they are synthetic materials, they still look brand new. And since velour is one of the major trends this year, I will run them through the washer and resurrect them.
Here is a good look at the print on the skirt - royal, teal and green.
My very last purchase before the great clothing ban of Labor Day 2017 were these velvet sandals.
Three necklaces today - two long silver herringbone chains and a moonstone/amethyst necklace that Doc got me in Monterey, California, years ago.
On my right arm, a mabe pearl ring and a silver cuff from David Yurman.
On my left arm, a costume bracelet and a sapphire/marcasite ring.
So that was my weekend. Now let's see what everyone else was up to.

Ebony and Ivory (and Lime Green)
The two outfits that I am going to show you today both have ivory as a base color and then use different bright colors to complete the look. Yesterday, I went for a light and bright look:
It started with an ivory shift in a thick scuba knit with a bit of mesh trim around the neckline.
Then I added a silk brocade jacket in a bright lime green.
You can see the brocade better here. My weird green resin necklace turned out to be a perfect match.
On my left arm, a stretchy crystal bracelet from Saks. Also, the creepy green ring from Nordstrom makes another appearance.
On my right arm, my Montana peridot ring, and a bracelet with lighter peridot stones.
Onto today, this Saks Fifth Avenue Black dress has an ivory top and a black skirt.
At the empire waist, there are some black patent squares that give the dress a nice, elegant touch.
For today's color, my id Sport deep red leather jacket that has alligator embossment.
The deep red color allowed me to wear my Sesto Meucci black suede pumps with the organza rose. They just came back from the shoe repair shop and look brand new !!
I wanted to wear gold jewelry, but with the silver zipper on my jacket and the silver trim on my handbag, I went with silver and garnet jewelry. Both necklaces were given to me by my mom. The top one, which looks like a blossom, was one that both my mom and I had. When she passed, I gave hers to my niece.
On my left arm, another mash up of my own pieces and my mom's. The garnet/opal bracelet was my mom's gift to me for my 40th, and the all garnet one was hers. As for the rings, the diamond cluster was mom's, while the diamond/ruby eternity band is mine.
On my right arm, the garnet cluster is a Colleen Lopez piece, and the two silver bracelets are old pieces.

Twice the Fun
You get to see two outfits today !! First, this is what I wore yesterday:
This is a dress that I have worn a lot. It always looks good, doesn't wrinkle because it's scuba knit and is always comfy. It was 102 degrees here in HB yesterday, with fierce Santa Ana winds that blew pine needles all over the yard. I had to present at a meeting yesterday, so I had to look nice, and this dress did the job.
I always wear the shorter lacy medallion necklace with this dress. I tried something different with the longer strand of beads, but they kept getting tangled in the shorter one, so I don't think I will use this combination again.
On my right arm, two diamond tennis bracelets and a tanzanite ring.
On my left arm, a white gold wedding set, a CZ bracelet, and an amethyst bracelet.
Today, it's less windy and cooler by about 5 degrees, but still toasty. Out comes the safari look:
This color blocked dress is from Loft.
On top, a linen safari jacket from Cache.
It has gold lurex woven throughout the fabric, and very shiny gold buttons.
This costume necklace of unknown provenance matches this outfit perfectly.
On my left arm, a leather/ mother of pearl cuff and my creepy green ring from Nordstrom.
On my right arm, my Montana peridot ring.
