A Pinch of Pink Paisley

Today's dress is one of the very first items I bought from Saks after I hit the big time (HARDEHAR) in the early 90's The designer is Seemnan Tob. Never heard of them, but this little dress has always been a favorite of mine.

It has an attached sarong in the front that drapes over the straight skirt and ties at the hip. I used to have hot pink suede mules that I would wear with this, but they died long ago. So today, I wore my Chinese Laundry sandals with the aurora borealis crystals on the straps.

And my Urban Originals purse from Neiman Marcus turns out to be a perfect match !!!

I still wear the same necklace - it's a goldtone chevron chain with a hot pink crystal/pearl pendant.

On my right arm, a tiny opal ring that my father gave me in high school, and my crystal/beaded bracelet.

On my left arm, my stretchy crystal bracelet from Saks, and an amethyst ring that Doc had made for me.

Several links to get to today - first, Liz has Style Me Wednesday at www.shoppingmycloset.com. Then, Tameka has What I Wore Wednesday at www.pastriespumpsandpi.blogspot.com. Next, Lindsey at www.thepleatedpoppy.com has What I wore, and last, Sydney Fashion Hunter has her linkup at www.sydneyfashionhunter.com. Have a great Wednesday - off to a meeting!!!

Berry Berry Burgundy

Even though it's still roasting out there, I am easing my way into Fall Fashion. So I combined a jacket with pale pink pants instead of a similarly colored bottom, in order to arrive at this slightly schizophrenic look:

I usually wear this jacket with a burgundy bottom piece. These are Express slacks, combined with an embroidered jacket by Maxou, and a sleeveless sweater by Nine West. Here's a better look at that sweater.

It has a crochet yoke embellished with little gold beads. Here's a better look at the jacket:

Let's get an even closer look at that embroidery on the front of the body of the jacket.

I wore a large amethyst necklace with this outfit.

On my left hand, a gold/diamond dust bangle and my wedding rings.

On my right arm, a diamond/garnet ring and two garnet bracelets. All three stones are slightly different as far as the color of the garnets go.

I wanted my shoes to be as neutral as possible, so I went with my Dolce Vita suede shooties.

For a final twist (literally), I twisted my hair into an updo, and stuck about 40 bobby pins in it before spraying the crap out of it with Ellnet.

In a week's time, it has already faded to a more golden color. Disappointing, but expected.

So two links today!!! First, Jess at www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com has Turning Heads Tuesday. Then, Laura at www.walkinginmemphisinhighheels.com has Trend Spin, with the trend being fall fashion. I tried, but it's hard when it's 90 degrees out there. You be the judge, and have a great day!!!

A Bunch of Action - Something for Every Link !!!

Well, I guess I'll start at the beginning. Friday night saw little action, I just worked out and then relaxed after the long week last week. Besides, it's hot again. On Saturday, I got up early so I could go for my run without dying. I saw my favorite little bird family again - they're always in the same spot.

This time, they had a neighbor visiting - Mama Coot. They are up and walking around.

Then, Ashley sent me a picture of the gourds that she and Preston picked from their own garden - these will make some nice Thanksgiving decorations!!!

After that, Doc and I went to lunch in Little Saigon. We went to Lee's sandwiches.

I had a porkroll and pate on french baguette, and Doc had vegetarian on a croissant. We took another fresh baguette down to my mom's house to visit.

For this occasion, I wore a dress that I made from fabric I bought in Honolulu, several years ago.

                                                 Blue steel. HAHHAAAA.

I wore an opal cross necklace from the Southwest Indian Foundation. We ordered one just like it for my MIL, Mimi, for her birthday next weekend. SShhh.

Two turquoise bracelets completed the decorations.

And my Lauren Conrad shoes, at least for the morning.

Later on, when we got back home, our other grandkids called and wanted us to meet them at Adventure City. This is a little amusement park that hosts birthday parties. So we went over, Elli in tow.

She wanted to go in, but nobody was willing to let her squeeze through the bars.

There is a wedding and party building called the........ White House.

                                                                              Duh.

On Sunday morning, this was the view down the street in beautiful Huntington Beach.

I jumped into my shorts and went downtown to have brunch. I wore black shorts, a style and Co knit to, my ever present visor, and Dex Flex sandals.

Here was the destination - The Longboard Restaurant and Pub.

The sidewalk and surrounding restaurants were very crowded - take hungry people, add sunshine and football, and you get crowds. Go figure.

Here's a look from across the street, looking towards the Longboard.

We ordered two burritos, one lobster and one Irish, with corned beef hash inside. I liked the Irish one the best.

When I got home, I had some chores to do. Doc was inside working on some continuing education for his MD license, so I had some other members of the crew help me.

Yes, Mr. Kenni the fat ninja. Here he is, in all his barrel shaped splendor.

Of course, Vinni the little viking helped also.

You may have heard something about a drought here in California, but you wouldn't know it by our backyard. We have been recycling our our gray water from showers and hand wash, and this has kept the back yard lush and tropical. A little bit went a loooong way, as far as water is concerned.

So me and the boys trimmed the foilage. Then, I helped Doc with a tiny project. Two Christmases ago, Kim and Nathan gave us a tiny plant called a money tree. Well, I have babied it, and taken good care of it, and now it's huge.

Doc wanted to give it an offering, so I arranged a little dish of rose quartz stones to make it happy.

The weirdest thing happened later, when we were walking the dogs. We found a $50 bill in the gutter. Thank you, Miss Money Tree!!!

Okay, so now it's back to work. Here is my colorful outfit, designed to head off the 90 degree heat.

This is a navy blue Banana Republic sleeveless dress, very classic, with a hot pink tweed/denim trimmed Chanel style jacket from Silk Land. With it, I wore a very old costume necklace.

On my left hand, two diamond bracelets, and my wedding set.

On my right arm, my matching white enamel/crystal ring and bracelet set from Saks.

And that's it, except for a ton of links. There HAS to be something for each one in this huge post. So Ana Luiza from www.northwestblonde.com has Start The Week Stylish. Then Melissa at www.mahoganycloset.com has Mahogany Closet Monday. Next, Deb at www.elegantlyfashionable.com has Classy Monday. Last, two old blog friends, the lovely Rachelle at www.pinksole.com for How I Fall, and then, gorgeous Patti at www.notdeadyetstyle.com for Visible Monday. Have a great day, and have some fun, too!!!
