Monday Madness

I must be getting old. (Duh). I worked 11 hours yesterday, if you count my dinner meeting, and I was flat out exhausted when I got home. I used to work 12 hours once every two weeks with no problem. I guess all good things must come to an end. :)

A sweet friend brought these for me yesterday:

Wanna make a girl happy? Bring flowers for no reason, just cuz.

Due to my physical and mental exhaustion, it was mandatory that today's outfit be as comfy and fuss free as possible.

Enter Style and Co ikat patterned T shirt and Fendi pants. Here's a better look at those pants.

They have a cool tone on tone pattern of squares. I have had them forever and they still look brand new. Since the top has some yellow and orange in it, I went with an orange necklace.

I used to remember what kind of agate it was, but it escapes my poor brain right now. All I remember is that it's from somewhere in Africa. Here's a closer look.

I wore my Nine West black patent sandals with the gold studs.

Then, since I mixed gold (shoes) with silver (necklace), I felt free to mix metals on my right arm.

This stretchy bracelet has gold, silver and copper tones in it. The ring is peridot. On my left hand,

A citrine ring and a crystal studded leather cuff.

Onto the Tuesday links!! First, Jess at www.elegantlydressedandstylish.com is having Turning HEads Tuesday. Then, Laura at www.walkinginmemphisinhighheels.com is hosting Trend Spin. Today's trend is neon. I don't really have any neon, so I think I will link my neon posies up. That gerbera daisy is pretty bright and colorful, I must say. Have a great Tuesday!!!!

ADDENDUM : It's Botswana Agate. Yay for little grey cells!!!

Working ON the Weekend

I work Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 4:00, something that is a little unusual in a hospital environment. But that's how my career has evolved. Consequently, if I do any work on the weekends, it's done for my home, my family, or my dearest pets. This weekend, I did a lot of varied things. One of the most painful was the triennial garage cleaning. Doc wants to make a move closer to the beach - we were planning that, but he wants to speed up the schedule. So I had to clean the garage, since 90% of the crap out there is mine.

After doing a bunch on Friday evening, we went out to lunch on Saturday, to "celebrate". I also got in a nice long run through the park, while it was sprinkling. Here's what I wore:

These Bermuda shorts are by Bebe, and the sweater top is Cable and Gauge. I also wore black thong sandals by DexFlex. We went to a Vietnamese Pho restaurant.

When you go for pho, which is noodle soup, they give you a plate of limes, bean sprouts and some kind of leafy herb, that I think may be mint. Your pho comes hot, and you add as little or as much of the extras as you want.

Here's what Doc got - vermicelli pho with barbequed pork and an egg roll. You can get large or small, and this is a large.

Here's what I got - pho with steak and gristle. Gristle is just the chewy ends of the meat. They are always surprised when I order it, because I guess that not very many Caucasian grannies order the gristle, but I like it.

Then we went to visit my mom. She is 95 and has been feeling very tired for the last few months - not a good sign. But her doctors say she is as good as can be expected for 95. So we took Elli with us and sat and visited. Now for the funny part - look at these two pictures. One is my top inside out and one is right side out. I had been wearing it inside out all day, and nobody noticed. We even ran into one of my girlfriends at Toys R Us, and she didn't know.

At Toys R Us, we got Preston a birthday gift - he will be 6, and his party is next weekend. We got him a big remote control helicopter. We wanted a drone with a camera, but they don't make those in the US yet. My girlfriend got her grandkids one from Japan.

When we got home, my Birchbox was waiting. So was my illegal 4% hydroquinone cream.

Here's what was in my Birchbox.
1) Comptoir Sud Pacifiue Coco Extreme perfume - the description on the package was hilarious. English was not their first language.
2) Harvey Prince Hello Body Cream. A best selling citrus scent.
3) La Mav Green Clay Detox Mask.
4) Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner - it looks to be a light blue color. I'm not sure that this will work for someone my age, but I do have blue eyes, so I'll give it a try.
5) Paula's choice Resist Barrier Repair Moisturizer with Retinol. So many different skin creams exist that it makes me dizzy. But I will never have to actually purchase any, since I get so many freebies.
6) Sarahpotempa Darby Clip - a nice hairstylist type clip to hold back sections of hair as you style it. I can always use this.

Then I did some laundry - this collection is all Elli's laundry - walked the dogs and then I read my latest book by Ann Rule. She is my favorite crime writer. Now we are going out for halal Chinese food. Halal is similar to Muslims as Kosher is to Jews. That's how I understand it, anyway. We are going to Lotus. We are going to walk over there.

Here is the interior. It's not very fancy, but the food is fresh, wholesome, and delicious.

We started with egg drop soup.

Then we had lamb lo mein. We usually get it with hand cut soft noodles, but they weren't available for some reason, so we got regular soft noodles. It was still yummy.

We also got Szechuan eggplant, but it was so delicious looking that we dove in, and I didn't realize that I didn't get a picture until it was too late. Trust me.

I finished cleaning the garage after the Cavs/Warriors game last night. What a chore, but also what a sense of accomplishment. So I wore something comfy and easy to reward myself.

This polyester top is from Elle. It's shaped like a scrub top. With it, I wore a navy INC skirt and carried my Urban Originals purse from Neiman Marcus.  Since the top is fuchsia, green and navy, I went with green and blue necklaces.

The shorter one is emerald and the longer one is sapphire. On my left hand

Two sapphire bracelets, and my wedding set. On my right hand,

Two more sapphire bracelets and a matching ring. I took my navy and black sandals out for what might be one of their last spins, since they are getting a bit worn.

I have an evening dinner meeting tonight, (after working 8 hours) so my main concern for the day was comfort. The fact that I think this outfit is cute is a bonus.

So let's do the Monday links. Cherie from www.stylenudge.com is hosting Shoe and Tell, and my soon to be retired shoes should get their last day in the sun. Then, Rachelle at www.pinksole.com is having How I Spring. Summer is just around the corner!!! See you all tomorrow!!!

So We've Come To The End of the Road

With the inspection, that is. It was supposed to be a 3 day ordeal, but it stretched to 4, since we are so fascinating :). Anyway, the weekend is near, and it's payday. Yay!!!

So what did I wear to end this hectic and frantic week?

This peasant blouse is by NY Collection, and the silk skirt by Banana Republic. I usually wear the skirt with a top tucked in, because most of the details are at the waistline. Behold:

It has a border print and black binding up there, and sort of a kick pleat. But today I decided to use a wide black elastic belt to cinch it all in.

I like pink with dark colors like navy and black. The top also has a couple of surprises. The drawstrin neckline is accented with beads on the strings.

I originally had a goldtone choker picked out to go with this, but I decided to wear my chocolate diamond pendant, since it is much less constricting around my scrawny neck. The top also has beading at the cuffs, eliminating the need for bracelets. On my right hand,

My Nordstrom veiny boulder ring is the only accent. Likewise, on my left hand,

Only a smoky topaz flower ring. I chose black shoes, this time from Vince Camuto.

I have been cleaning out my closets over the past week. The patrons of the Salvation Armani can now get some new cute clothes, courtesy of me and my profligate spending ways of the past few years. I have been trying to be brutal and give away alot of stuff, and I think I'm doing a pretty good job.

So let's do some linking!!! Sweet Dawn Lucy of www.fashionshouldbefun.com is hosting Fun Fashion Friday. Believe it or not, this outfit is fun for me. Then, Lauren of www.stylelixir.com is having Fab Favorites. I think these shoes are one of my favorite pairs, mostly because they are comfy and feminine at the same time.

So have a great weekend, and we'll see you on the other side!!!

Build A Bear

Today, we are going to play Build A Bear. I'm going to show you my outfit, and then, like the Build A Bear store, we are going to choose the accessories from a couple of options. First, the outfit:

Here it is, from the side:

This is a silk skirt from the Gap, with an INC sweater and a rose velour tank from The Limited. The skirt has a tan ribbon belt that is attached.

So let's try and guess  which shoes I chose. Was it my tan leather Newport News pumps with the ivory ribbon?

Or was it my super comfy Pour La Victoire taupe suede wedges?

And how about my necklace? Was it my garnet blossom?

Or was it a cameo on a rose velvet ribbon?

I think you can figure this one out!! It was the Newport News pumps and the velvet ribbon cameo. I won't bore you with guessing what I have on my arms. On the right, I have a marcasite crystal cuff, and amethyst/opal ring.

And on my left arm, a costume purple glass bracelet, a wide wedding band, and an amethyst/diamond ring.

Well, we are on Day 4 of our government inspection, so I had better quit screwing around and get down to business. But, of course, we will take a few precious seconds to link up with a few of my favorite blogs. First, Alice at www.happinessatmidlife.com hosts Throwback Thursday. If my 70s style choker is not enough of a throwback, then I don't know what is!!! Also, Nicole from www.highlatitudestyle.com is having Top Of The World Style. (I should be on the top of the world if this inspection EVER ends). Lastly, Tara from www.mixmatchfashion.com is hosting Summer Style. If you have a few precious seconds to spare, I would recommend spending them looking at these awesome blogs!!! See you all later!!!

Game, Set, Match !!!

Last night was the last session of my current tennis class. Wah. I really liked this group of people. There were only 3 of us, me, Jackie and Diana, and it was very humid. The tail end of Hurricane Blanca came up from Baja California, and it sprinkled very lightly on and off, but the court didn't get slippery. So it looks like the 3 of us, plus Lan and Dennis (my friends who take every class with me), along with Chuck and Curt, are going to be together again next time. Yay!!!

So onto today's outfit. You will remember the last time I wore this dress:

That's a lot of red. So today, I decided to coordinate with the other colors in the dress.

I looked at all the colors and then looked at my collection of cardigans, and decided to go with grey. The dress is by BB Dakota, and I got it at Stacy's Closet back in March. The cardigan is by So, which I believe is one of Kohl's brands. I continued the grey theme with my Nine West shoes.

I decided to highlight some of the other colors in the dress with my jewelry. I ended up choosing a necklace that I got at Nordstrom.

It has black faceted cabochons which are surrounded by grey seed beads. Then, on my left arm,

I am wearing a red leather and gold tone cuff from INC, with my creepy green ring, also from Nordstrom. On my right arm,

I have a gold tone stretchy bracelet that also happens to be INC, and a chalcedony ring that I got in Las Vegas last summer.

So that's about it for today, except for the links. I am exhausted from the hospital inspection. It is very difficult to do all my regular work on top of answering a billion questions for the inspectors, but it's a necessary evil. (also, I would get fired if I didn't comply, boo hoo hoo).

So let's go!!! First, Tameka at www.pastriespumpsandpi.blogspot.com is having Who's Wearing What Wednesdays. Then, Lindsey at www.thepleatedpoppy.com is having What I Wore. Last, but not least, Liz, at www.shoppingmycloset.com is hosting Style Me Wednesday. Hop over and give these gals a peek.

Last funny tidbit: These are the questions that the inspector asked me first, before getting into any Infectious Disease stuff:
1) Where did you get that pretty dress?
2) You smell good. What perfume are you wearing?
3) How long does it take you to get dressed in the morning?
4) Do you like to go fishing?

It takes a village.
