I have wondered why one of the symbols for Easter is the bunny. The theory I have heard is that bunnies (and eggs) represent a new beginning, and rebirth. But we have a better symbol than that in our family - our new grandnephew, Sutter Paul.
8 pounds, 12 ounces - a whopper. He lives in San Francisco with his parents. Welcome to the family!!!
I have a friend who never got an Easter basket because they are Jewish. (go figure). So I tried to make a Passover themed basket, but it didn't exactly go as expected. Here are the ingredients:
A lemon pie, some chocolate donuts, some chocolate coins, a chocolate duck, and some jellybeans in sports themed eggs. The only thing I could get that was at all related to the Jewish faith is a blue basket. I know that blue is a Hanukah color, but I tried!!
Here's the finished product - I hope they will enjoy it anyway!!!
Chag Semeach to all!!!
More importantly, what am I wearing today?
I have on a vintage silk midi skirt, with a Romeo and Juliet Couture embellished T shirt. Let's get a better look at the beading on the T shirt.
The color can best be described as hematite. So, I wore a hematite necklace, of course.
The midi skirt is a riot of color and pattern. You can see that here.
I also wore brown pumps with cork soles, and a brown braided belt.
On my left arm, a silver Brighton bracelet, and an iron cross ring.
On my right arm, another silver bangle and a faux blue stone ring that is so gaudy that it's awesome!!
Wanna know what else is awesome?? Elli, in her football jersey.
Apparently, she is number 18 on the team.
And the "Star". Hopefully, she will live for 18 years - sometimes Chihuahuas do that.
Onto the links!!! Of course, sweet beautiful Alice at www.happinessatmidlife.com for Throwback Thursday - this week, I actually gave it some thought - this skirt is a 70s throwback!!. And then, one linkup that I haven't joined in a looonnnggg time - Tara at www.mixmatchfashion.com. Tara specializes in work wear, but since she's on Spring Break, we can link anything!!! But I stuck with work wear (since I have to work, unlike lucky Tara). Have a great day!!!

Tennis, Anyone??
Last night was the first session of my new tennis class. There are 8 of us, including my old pals Dennis and Lan. The last time there were only three, so it made it more of an individual thing, but more people is more exciting, plus picking up balls goes faster. Everyone seems really nice.
On the way to tennis, I had a couple of minutes to kill, so I went into Burlington Coat Factory. I have been on the hunt for one of my favorite perfumes, and it's getting hard to find. I had heard that BCF has a big perfume selection, and they had what I have been looking for:
Bijan!!! I had almost given up, and was going to buy some at the duty free shop at the airport the next time I fly. But now I don't have to. So I am liberally scented today. But, on a more important note, what am I wearing today?
This is a no name knit dress that I have had for a few years. I got it when this style was popular a few years ago. Here's a closeup of the detail on the print.
Before I started blogging, I used to sketch my outfits every day. Here's the drawing I did of this dress.
It appears as though I wore it on 6/13/13. I always wear the same shoes with it, and now that I have found a new pair on EBay, I no longer have to wear the beat up pair. They are by David Aaron.
Likewise, I always wear the same jewelry with this dress. I have a short necklace that is real emerald, and a long one that is faux.
On my left hand, I have my wedding set and two gold bracelets.
On my right hand, a malachite ring and two Austrian crystal stretch bracelets.
Onto Wednesday's link ups!!! As always, Lindsey at www.thepleatedpoppy.com is hosting What I Wore. Then, Tameka at www.pastriespumpsandpi.blogspot is hosting What I Wore Wednesday ( just a little bit different. ) And last, Liz at www.shoppingmycloset.com has Style Me Wednesday. Take a look at these wonderful collections.
I read something interesting - one blogger said that if you include a dog picture as your thumbprint, you get a ton of hits. So I am including a very close up picture of my little Mexican sweetheart, Elli the Chihuahua. I am going to test this hypothesis today. Results to follow!!

Ahoy, Matey!!!
Since we are well into spring ( 10 days), and well into a heat wave, I figured that I should make an attempt to wear less black. So of course, I did a 180 and wore white pants today.
These pants are just some no name, no label numbers that I picked up somewhere along the way. The Henley came from Old Navy. Here's a look without the jacket.
The jacket is the one I got at some thrift shop, but it originally came from Bloomingdales.
It has some nicely done and luxurious trim on the sleeves. The hardware is also very nice, and the jersey is very heavy weight.
Since my pants are long, I wore high wedges that came from Target. I got them a couple of years ago.
The jewelry was easy. I wore a short sapphire necklace.
On my left arm, I am wearing two sapphire bracelets, and a matching ring.
On my right arm, a gold/diamond dust bangle and a sapphire cocktail ring.
I don't have anything else exciting to tell you. Tonight, I start my next set of tennis classes. It's always fun, because I get to see some friends that I haven't seen for a while, plus I get to meet new people.
Now, the links. Amber at www.induffinitely.blogspot.com hosts Tremendous Tuesday, and I join in almost every week. Likewise, Lauren at www.stylelixir.com also gets a good turnout for Style Sessions, and this week is Spring Style. Have a good day, and I will leave you with a picture of my lunch from yesterday - yummy chicken tostadas!!!!
And healthy broccoli, too !!!

Getting Ready For the Bunny Hop
Easter is coming upon us quickly, so I had to scramble to get the grandkid's baskets ready. So Doc, my mom, Elli, and I went out and got the job done. Score : Rosie et al = 4, Murphy's law = 0.
Here's what we got. First for Preston:
We packaged his in a Cars trash can instead of a basket, because he just moved into a new house, and can use it to decorate his room. Inside, we put a magic trick, a chocolate/peanut butter bunny, some Reese's pieces in a carrot, a chicken that lays bubble gum eggs, 2 cans of PlayDoh, and some Goldfish crackers.
Onto Joseph and Benjamin. We always take care to give the two brothers EXACTLY the same thing. If you have little ones in your family, you will understand.
They each got a plastic bucket with sidewalk chalk, 2 cans of PlayDoh, some bubbles, a monkey that squeaks, and some Goldfish. Their mama prefers that they don't have too much candy, and there are lots of Easter themed little toys out there for that situation. For little Calista,
A pink bucket with bubbles, a chick that moves, a chick sippy cup and some Goldfish. Everything is packed and ready to go next Sunday.
I also picked up a couple of things for myself while Easter shopping. I got replacement dumbbells.
Mine were so old - I had taped the handle part because it cracked, but the sand still leaked out a bit. I don't think they weighed 5 pounds anymore, so I got new ones when I saw them. I also got a dress off the clearance rack.
It's navy blue and yellow. It's polyester knit and I'm sure it will make an appearance one day soon, when I am too lazy to iron.
On Saturday, I went running, and the neighborhood was having a garage sale. I picked up one piece of that colorful Italian pottery from one of my neighbors.
I put it on the kitchen counter, along with another biscotti jar, and a dog treat jar.
And there you have it. So onto the most exciting part of my post - What am I wearing???
A teal blue dress that I got in Palm Springs a long time ago, along with a patchwork suede jacket that came from Stein Mart. Here's the dress, made by Alex, without the jacket.
And here's the jacket, without the dress.
Since the dress is solid, I chose to accessorize it with a necklace from Nordstrom.
Crazy doohickeys hanging from a silver tone cable. On my left hand,
A bracelet of larimar, citrine, freshwater pearls, and aurora borealis, along with a wedding set. On my right hand,
Three silver bracelets and a tanzanite ring. I had originally wanted to wear black shoes, but then I spied these Jessica Simpson gladiator sandals on my shoe rack, and threw caution to the wind.
They seem to go better with this blue outfit. So there you have it, except for the links. First, Sheila at www.sheilaephemera.blogspot.com is hosting Shoe Shine Saturday. Even though it's Monday, I'm sure that Sheila will let me play :). Then, Cherie at www.stylenudge.com is hosting Shoe and Tell - more shoes !!!! We all love shoes!!!. Lastly, Rachelle at www.pinksole.com is hosting How I Spring. So I'm gonna spring in there!!! Have a great Monday, everyone!!!

Straight From the Heart
That is how it worked yesterday. I donated another unit of my precious blood to the Blood Bank. It's an easy way to help someone in need. And I got a movie ticket and another T shirt.
Here's the logo on the back - The Key to Life.
Later on, Doc and I were walking the dogs. While Kenni and Vinni were pulling at my arms to try and scramble all over the universe, I sprung a leak. I plugged it up pretty well with a Kleenex. Doc felt sorry for me, and so he gave me another little gift:
I realize that this looks like a gold coin and you guys are thinking that I am one spoiled girl. Now for the reveal:
It's really a giant chocolate coin !!! But, yes, I AM a tiny bit spoiled.
Onto bigger and better things - what am I wearing?
You get two views today because I couldn't decide which one I liked better. This is a Celine skirt, with a polyester ruffly tank and my ivory waterfall cardi that I love and wear a lot. The skirt was a good excuse to bust out my fuchsia Urban Originals purse from Neiman Marcus.
This is a big beauty!!! It has a separate zippered inner bag that is big enough to hold my laptop. I tied this together with a vintage belt.
The belt and the purse both have gold tone elements, so that made the choice of jewelry easier. I went with a Joan Rivers convertible pin/pendant.
On my left hand, a stretchy crystal bracelet from Saks, and a garnet/diamond ring.
On the right hand, a plastic stretch bracelet from Macy's, and a crystal/enamel ring from Saks.
I elected to go with neutral shoes, my Carlos Santana suede gladiators.
So that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!! Onto the links. It's Thursday, so that means Throwback Thursday with Alice at www.happinessatmidlife.com. Then, another link I have been doing for a couple of weeks - Christina at www.poshpair.com is hosting Life and Style Link Up. Today's theme is pastels, but I played along anyway, because she is sporting an adorable fuchsia clutch bag. From this link up, I found Jenna at www.sincerelyjennamarie.com, who is hosting Thursday Favorites. I have a rather jam packed day, so I will be checking these ladies out later. See you all soon!!!
