Playing Bumper Cars During the Holidays

I neglected to tell you one little detail about my ordeal with my knee. I had to leave my car at the hospital overnight on the day I hurt it and went to the urgent care. Doc took me to work the next day, and when we were going home, I called AAA to tow my car home. I have the Platinum account. But that wasn't covered, so I told Doc that I could drive it home. As he was dropping me off, a nurse from the surgical center backed into Doc's Cadillac and squished the fender. She was really nice about it. We took the Cadillac into the repair shop and got a nice loaner - a 2022 Cadillac SUV.

Since I last updated, my physical rehabilitation continues. I can do almost everything again, except any floor exercises that require you to be on all fours, or deep squats. I have been modifying any movements in my routines that are like that. There are a lot of ways to work various muscles. Onward and upward!!

On November 21st, I wore the last of my Temu order. It was this harlequin plaid mockneck sweater in green, brown and tan.  I wore brown slacks and a green suede jacket from Bandolino with it. The loafers are from Coach. I got a ton of compliments on this outfit- a real crowd pleaser.

Pandi practiced yoga that night - this is the Superdog pose.

On November 22nd, I wore the fabulous viral pantsuit again. It is the best! I may get another color in the spring. This time, I wore my new Temu platform sneakers with it. I loved how it looked. I sized up to a medium and the fit is perfect.

On Thanksgiving Day, we went over to Win and Mimi's for ribs. They were delicious. The side dishes were great as well. Doc ate almost all the potato salad. I took the opportunity to wear a dress that I wore to Thanksgiving at Luke's house in Hesperia, years ago. It is silk, from To The Max, and the combination of fall colors is spectacular. Since its debut those many years ago, I have gotten new boots. These brown suede slouchy boots are from Mootsies Tootsies. The draping on the bodice of the dress is spectacular.

Luke, Ashley and Preston have one chicken left from a flock that was decimated by opossums They went panning for gold over the holiday, so Mimi watched her. We made sure that Pandi didn't come with us, because she scared the chicken when they saw each other the last time.

Jacki dug me a heart-shaped hole. She loves me!!!

Pandi prefers to let her sleep patterns verify that she loves me too.

At the Black Friday sales, I zoomed to Bath and Body Works and got six hand soaps. They are less than two dollars, they last really long, and they smell wonderful.

I went to Nordstrom and picked up a couple of things. This black silk shirt by Jaclyn Smith is polyester that looks just like silk. The finish on the fabric is slightly luminous. It has gold buttons and roll-up sleeves that can also be worn down. The belt is from Primark in Boston.

Then I got this brown rayon blend swing style T shirt from Tahari. The neckline and sleeve hems have a satin finish trim.

Then I got these ivory Zelle sneakers. They are really nice and were only ten dollars. The color is challenging, but I am familiar with washing sneakers in the machine.

We have been going to the Farmer's Market here in HB and getting fresh fruits and vegetables. This is an example of cooking with these items- stuffed peppers with rice and veggies, and Rave apples with vanilla Greek yogurt on top. Doc has gotten to be a very good cook.

Jacki has become such a squishy fat soft fur rug. And she doesn't stink yet. I think the combo of pool water, sunshine, and good diet makes her beautiful and scent-free.

We went to the swap meet and I got this beautiful Hanukkah plate. I got another dwarf Alberta pine for our tree this year, and we call him Prince Albert. I put him on the plate - kind of a multi-cultural tribute to the season.

Ladybug ladybug fly away home.

On November 28th, the Jaclyn Smith blouse saw some action. I wore it with a brocade knit miniskirt and Tahari black suede boots. I looked fabulous!!

The next day, I wore another knit skirt from Jones New York. It's so nice - gold zippers and trim, but just a bit large, which I need to fix. I wore it with a gold turtleneck and a St John Sport jacket. I was not a big fan of this combo - I am going to try it with a navy turtleneck and a longer jacket next time. Maybe I can adjust the waistband of the skirt.

On November 30th, I wore a Joan Vass waterfall cardigan with the new Tahari Tshirt and some Old Navy leggings. This sweater weighs a ton and is very luxe. I recommend it to anyone. The Top Moda booties had heels that were a little on the high side. My knee was sore.

On December 1st, I wore a Calvin Klein sweater dress with an Escada belt and some burgundy suede booties that also weren't that great in terms of height. I need to ease my way back into very high heels.

On December 5th, we had a potluck for our department at the hospital. I signed up for garlic bread, but I decided to get fancy and brought three different flatbreads- Tarte d'Alsace, Tarte aux Champignons, and Margherita. All came from Trader Joes's.

I used Christmas plates.

Here are the Tartes.

Here is the Margherita.

I decorated them. They smelled wonderful after they cooked, but I did add some Parmesan, oregano, and parsley to the margherita. Everyone said they were delicious.

We took a department Christmas picture that day. We were instructed to wear a green or red blouse with black slacks, so I wore this bright red Worthington blouse with my favorite black Sharagano slacks. They have tiny nail heads winding down them in a diagonal pattern.

I topped it with my vintage Karen Lawrence brocade jacket with rabbit cuffs. One of my favorites that I wear a lot every year.

Peanut brought his alien toy over for Jacki. He is in love. She reciprocated her ardor by ripping the thing to pieces, then pocketing the remains in her huge mouth. She can fit three toys in her jaws. I pulled out the remains because she could get a bowel obstruction if she swallows them. She was mad at me.

On December 6th, I wore a vintage lurex turtleneck covered in sequins and the Old Navy slacks that I wore with the harlequin sweater. On top, I wore a WDNY brocade jacket in a beautiful copper color with elaborate Asian embroidery. I repeat this exact outfit every year during the holiday season.

On Thursday, I wore my black leather slacks with a gold brocade jacket that I got in the Korean thrift shop across town. I love this sparkly swing jacket. The chiffon scarf is black with gold embroidery. And I wore my new embroidered velvet booties with it. I got them to substitute for the wonderful black and gold ones that I have had for many years. I need to get them resoled, but these are also gorgeous.

The gentleman from whom I got my darling Jacki messaged me. There are more puppers!!! The mom is not Jacki's mom - her mom was a yellow lab, and this one is chocolate. Mr. Sanchez had a male and a female - the male is black, so I think these are his puppies, so Jacki's cousins. They are precious!!

Their puppies are so healthy and gorgeous - Mr. Sanchez takes extremely good care of his dogs. Jacki's mom was on her third litter of 12, so she was going to be spayed and retired from breeding. Our Jacki was in perfect shape when we got her, and she is still the most beautiful dog that I have ever seen.

We went back to the swap meet on Sunday, December 10th. I scored a nice pair of tan Blondo Waterproof boots. They are brand new, and retail for $129. A man had a table of all types of boots for $10. Here they are - nice low heels.

I got my Ipsy bag today. I like the sparkly bag!!

Here's what was inside, top to bottom:
1) Dr Brandt Skincare Microdermabrasion Age-Defying Exfoliator
2) SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica First Ampoule -Preps the skin for skincare somehow
3) On Left - Shades by Shan Gel Eyeliner in Tapioca Pearl
4) TresLuce Beauty Ilusion Volumizing and Lengthening Mini Mascara in Jet Black
5) REN Clean Skincare Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream

So it's been a pretty busy week - I worked four days and then had to deal with the car and some mix-up with one of my prescriptions that was irritating and time-consuming, but eventually worked out.

This week, I work three days, then on Friday morning, there is a breakfast party for all of the Infection Preventionists that work for our hospital system. I have my outfit planned for that.

On Saturday, our neighbors Rhonda and David are having their annual Christmas party - I don't have an outfit planned for that - I'll prepare on Friday.

Stay tuned for more holiday shenanigans!!
