Before we get into the fooffarah surrounding Easter, I will show you some more outfits.
On March 28th, it rained !! I took the opportunity to wear a Chanel dress, Lewit over the knee boots, and a leather jacket.
My necklace came from Neiman Marcus - I haven't been wearing it lately. No good reason except that I forgot that I had it.
In this shot, you can see the trim on the jacket better.
This day would have been my father's birthday - he would have been 103. Alas, he died in 1981 at a very young age. I went by the church and lit a candle for him.
The next day was a transitional day. It stopped raining, but the temperature was still a little chilly. This dress is self-made.
It matched beautifully with patterned tights and these new booties from Steve Madden. I am trying to get shoes that will serve me after I stop working in a couple of years. These are cute and comfy due to the platform
On top, a waterfall cardigan from Style and Co.
I got this necklace on EBay. The center stone is some type of agate, but the other stones are glass.
On my right hand, a yellow sapphire ring that was my mom's, and two silver bracelets.
On my left hand, a multi gemstone ring and two more bracelets, one of which is also multi gemstone.
We have been getting these frozen sushi rolls at Grocery Outlet. They are almost as good as fresh ones. You get 15 pieces for $6.99. Doc has been snarfing them.
Horatio, one of my pet pothos, has gotten huge. So I took his long tendrils and wound them around the gargoyle rat on top of one of Doc's bookcases.
On March 31st, I wore a Liz Claiborne dress that I got on deep clearance at JC Penney. It was only $10.
I wore it with my Nine West maryjane shoes. It has every autumn color in the engineered print.
For April fools, I wore a Kate Spade snow leopard print dress.
I wore a matching set of moonstone and blue topaz jewelry with it.
On top, a silver lurex cardigan from JM Collection.
On Monday, April 4th, we were preparing for a big heat wave that was supposed to arrive Thursday. It was already getting a little warm. I wore this dress from Anne Klein that is made of a flat smooth knit that is similar to Santana knit.
Accessories included a White House Black Market belt, my Hermes CDC, a LV lock pendant, and a bone/stone necklace that I got in the Philippines in 1985 !!
I went to a retirement party that day, and the outfit received many compliments. I basked, because that doesn't happen anymore unless I put forth much effort.
I got influenced into trying the Il Makiage foundation. I typically wear Chanel, but I have been looking for an alternative since the Chanel is so pricy. I tried Armani and it did not compare. But.... the Il Makiage is really nice!!! I received a liquid eyeliner as a gift. I have never been able to successfully use liquid liner, but I am going to try since this was a gift.
I didn't work on Tuesday - I had a couple of medical appointments, including a mammogram. It was normal, no issues, thank goodness. Afterwards, Doc and I went down to the beach and walked for two hours. He is trying to get more exercise since his retirement. Then we went out for lunch. We both got carnitas nachos from Taco Grill. Two orders makes four meals for us.
On Wednesday, April 6th, I wore a mesh knit dress from Taylor - this is another one of my favorites.
It has a pleated corded waistband. I wore a long tassel necklace from INC that I also got a long time ago, but haven't been wearing lately. I need to resurrect my cool vintage baubles.
Then, the heat happened. On Thursday, I wore this knit shift from I Le New York. The navy and tan is a nice color combination that is easy to accessorize. It's a thicker knit, but not double knit. It's a little big on me.
I wore a navy and gold belt that I got in Tucson, a gold coin necklace from the Vatican, and that really popular crystal link bracelet from J Crew from around 2010. Everyone had one of these, plus a bubble necklace. I didn't get the necklace, but some of my friends recognized the bracelet.
On Friday, the real heat began. I wore these very old white slacks. I wondered why I hadn't worn them very often. The answer - the have a button fly.
On top, a floaty chiffon top in pale mint green from Rose and Olive. On top of that, another chiffon vest printed with butterflies. It's a La Blanca swimsuit coverup. I look for them at Nordstrom Rack - they make great tops for a hot evening.
I wore opal jewelry - a shorter oval pendant and a longer cross.
Pandi did not handle the heat too well - she didn't sleep in our bed like usual, but chose her box on the floor on Thursday. On Friday, she mostly laid directly on the hardwood floor, because even though it is very hard, it is also much cooler. Doc and I both agreed that she looked like roadkill. She does not handle the heat well due to her morbid obesity.
We have a huge star pine down the street, and lately, a large hawk has been sitting on the top surveying the area. I love seeing him up there.
A little more flora to go with the fauna - these fragrant orange roses are from the front yard, along with the pink one.
And another pothos baby - Imelda !!! She has been living in the kitchen garden window, but has gotten huge, so now she lives on one of Doc's bookcases in his library.
This colorful bouquet was composed of more of those orange roses. I teamed them up with purple stock and Martha Washington geraniums. It was so hot that the buds opened up completely in two days.
My March Birchbox finally came - it was delayed due to supply chain issues. Here is what was inside, from top to bottom:
1) thisworks stress check sleep spray - haven't used it yet. You spray it on your pillowcase.
2) onekind Dream Cream Nighttime Moisturizer. I guess that the latest marketing trend is to use lower case letters for the brand name.
3) air repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer
4) Luseta Biotin and Collagen Strengthening and Thickening Hair Mask.
5) R + Co One prep spray for heated hair styling. I am almost out of Perfect 10, so I will give this a try.
Monday, April 11th was a little bit cooler than last week. I wore a thick knit dress from Shelby and Palmer that I got in Santa Barbara.
I made the style more mod by wearing black tights and rust sandals from White House Black Market.
On top, a black cardigan with bugle bead trim from Barandi. And my usual favorite black and gold accessories - INC tassel necklace, Hermes CDC, and Tiffany link .
On April 12th, I wore another thicker knit dress from eci. It has double trumpet sleeves.
As you can see, a lot of fun costume jewelry.
On Wednesday, April 13th, I went for comfort. My joggers are from Old Navy, my cowl neck top is from Luscious, and my warm up style jacket is from Bloomingdales.
I added an ancient rope belt and a jade/lapis necklace that was my mom's.
Thursday, April 14th, saw me wearing a slinky knit dress from eci once again. This was a brand that was popular at Macy's. I like the color combo- you don't often see lavender with black and gold.
I wanted to wear my lavender Stuart Weitzman shoes, but the colors were too different - the dress is a much darker hue. So I switched to my Style and Co black and gold sandals.
My accessories were mostly black and gold, with the exception of my purple crystal necklace, which is impossible to see in a picture.
Surprise !!! I got both April cosmetic boxes today. First up, Ipsy. The bag was a collaboration with Madelaine Petch, one of the stars of the show Riverdale. From top to bottom:
1) A Madelaine Petch cosmetic brush with daisies on it
2) Kaleido Cosmetics Obsidian Waterproof Liquid eyeliner
3) Dear Beach Glassy Lip Oil / Gloss
4) Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser
5) Kokie Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Chocolate Brown
My Birchbox was a beautiful purple and orange affair. Inside, from top to bottom:
1) Byro New York Night Serum
2) Comfort Zone Active Pureness Clay Mask
3) Wander Drift Away Cleanser
4) Hero Clear Collective Prebiotic Moisturizer
5) Busy Love It Face Wipes times two.
April 12th was my darling Pandora Elizabeth Holtzman's 10th birthday !! I have had her for five years now. She is doing great, very fat and happy. I got her (and her compadres, Kenni and Vinni) McDonalds regular cheeseburgers. The wild celebration was also because Kenni is now my longest surviving dog at 15 years and 7 months. The previous record holder was Jackpot, who lived to be 15 years and 6 months. Her position was filled with my darling little Vinni.
Pandi knew something was up - she patiently awaited whatever was about to happen.
Here are the goodies!! I cut each cheeseburger into 6 pieces. I forgot at ask for no pickles, so there were pickles all over the floor, discarded by my picky little cherrier.
Look at the focus !!
Closer.....
Yum!! The landmark birthday celebration was a complete success !!
Onto the Easter stuff !! As usual, Pandi was the inspector for the goodies. She thoroughly examined them, then approved. Our grandkids are 12, 11, 9 and Calista will be 8 this Friday. They still love getting Easter baskets.
We started with four buckets and some grass.
Calista got a pink unicorn bucket. Everyone got Sour Patch gummies, Silly Putty, an egg filled with little toys, and two balloons that inflate when you push on them.
The boys also got a rabbit that poops candy, two different vehicles that they can build, and a brain teaser puzzle.
Calista got bunny ears, finger puppets, a ceramic egg to paint, and a wooden giraffe with a paint set.
Then I added some plastic eggs to be filled with money.
Here they are, all put together.
Then, Pandi had a better idea for the plastic eggs.
I got a bunch of change and bills.
Then I filled the eggs with the money. One has a five dollar bill in there.
They can each pick three eggs. I guess we will have to figure out who goes first - probably a one to one hundred number guess and whoever gets closest goes first, etc.
So stay tuned for the party !!! We have ordered 4 extra large pizzas from What A Lotta Pizza - pepperoni and supreme. I will show you everything that happens. Put your seat belt on !!
