Notice - Post title changed . I already used that one !!!
Not really. It's actually been kind of chill since late July - that's when the COVID spike from 4th of July ended. Now we are in a holding pattern with a few scattered cases here and there. Everyone seems to be cooperating - everywhere we go, people are wearing masks. The only thing we still miss is the library, but we have been going to used bookstores instead. It got up to 99 degrees on Labor Day weekend - I protected the plants that I had out front:
Then on Labor Day itself, I planted new fall flowers.
Dead dog resumed his position out front with his solar light paw prints.
All the plants have lots of flowers now, since I fertilized them and have been watering them religiously.
After the heatwave came the fog. One foggy morning, we had a visitor:
A beautiful little hawk. He sat on the lamp post for quite a while, looking for beasties to eat. He did not score and so he flew away.
So what have I been wearing during this hot couple of weeks?
I decide to get dolled up on August 31st. I wore a handmade silk wrap skirt with a charmeuse tank in the prettiest shade of royal blue.
My bright blue Korean blazer was the perfect top. My Nine West shoes died after this outing - they are too worn out to either wear or repair.
I have been trying to remember to take pictures of my jewelry. This day, I wore an emerald necklace and a faux emerald pendant.
Also an emerald and diamond ring and a sapphire and diamond bracelet.
On September 1st, I wore a pair of very old black slacks with roses embroidered down one leg.
I wore a red sweater tank and a black bolero sweater with fabric rosettes by Dana Buchman.
The garnet rosette necklace was a gift from my mom.
On September 2nd, my outfit was just white jeans with a peach silk top, but I wanted to get a good picture of my jewelry.
The longer two necklaces are costume, but I also wore a tiny rose gold LV lock necklace.
My stretchy bracelet is from INC, and the rings are black and white diamonds.
On September 3rd, I went relaxed in mode. These ankle pants are from Bebe and the chiffon peasant top if from Silk and co. Unfortunately, I ironed a hole into the back, so it went to its grave after this wearing.
Here's a look at the embroidery - I never wore this top, so I don't think I will miss it much.
With this outfit, I wore one of the Indian parures that Doc got me a few years ago. It's emerald and ruby.
After Labor Day, on September 8th, I wore a white pantsuit by Jones New York. A friend gave it to me.
It's very nice - fully lined.
With it, I wore a bright floral blouse from Worhtington.
I tried it with the top both untucked and tucked. I decided that I like it tucked.
On September 9th, I wore a navy blue dress from J Crew.
On top, a vintage jacket from Roth Le Cowan California. It's a honeycomb pattern with a navy band across the chest.
This necklace was my mom's - it has quite a few interchangeable stones in different colors.
On September 10th, I wore one of my favorite dresses from Tom Ford.
I have this cascade necklace of Austrian crystals that matches perfectly.
On September 14th, I wore a faux wrap dress from North Style.
I wore grey booties by Ivanka Trump and a moonstone statement necklace that I got from EBay.
On September 15th, I wore an ivory knit top from JC Penney and a ripstop skirt from Vera Wang.
The skirt is very unusual - the top is a drawstring waist in ripstop and the rest is an abstract knit.
On September 16th, I wore a lace skirt from J Crew and this knit top with chiffon ruffles from Romeo and Juliet Couture that I got in San Luis Obispo.
My black suede shoes with silk roses on them are Sesto Meucci. Here's a closer look at the top.
On September 17th, I had an important errand to run that took me away from the hospital for a few minutes.
I wore a Loft top, a St John skirt and slippers from Michael Anthony.
Here's a good look at the slippers - they don't get a lot of lovin', because they don't go with a lot, but I liked them with this outfit.
So what was the errand? I took a big basket of cookies to HB Fire Station #6, to thank them for all they do for us.
They were babies !! So young !! They were really happy to get the cookies.
I have been cooking on the weekend - here are two examples:
One night, Olde English fish and chips, with a corn and cucumber salad.
Another night, empanadas with a mixed vegetable salad. It's so nice to cook in the new kitchen.
I also got my Birchbox. My Ipsy bag is delayed.
Here is what I got:
1)Comfort Zone Hydramemory mask for dry skin
2) Too Cool fro School Rules of Mastic IX Enhancer - balm for intense nourishment of the skin
3) ARROW Boost Color Enhancing Lip Balm
4) bareMinerals Original Loose Powder
5) Davines the Renaissance Circle Mask for hair with babassu butter ????
6) Nature Lab Tokyo Perfect Shine Clarifying Scalp Scrub
This one is a fancier type of box with a pull out drawer with a tassel.
Well, that's it for now - stay tuned and maybe something exciting will happen. We had an earthquake last night and have had a few power outages due to the heat. Also, the fires rage on throughout California, so I guess that I should ne thankful for boredom and not trouble. Stay safe !!
