This is actually what it means when you see a stork - Good Luck and Long Life. On Saturday, we were walking the dogs and Doc wanted to go up one street because there was a garage sale. After he left, I saw a big white bird land on a neighbor's lawn. At first, I thought it was a big seagull. But when I got closer......
That is NOT a seagull.
I told Doc there was a stork in the street and he didn't believe me. He said that my eyes are not good.
Well, turns out that my eyes are just fine, thank you.
This beautiful bird is actually a Giant Egret. He was gorgeous, and snapping at the bugs in the bushes. I love his backwards knees. He was a pretty cool character - not nervous at all. All of the neighborhood kids came out to see him.
I have a bunch of outfits to show, since I have figured out how to prop up my phone for pictures. Let's go waaayyyy back to August 12.
This is a beautiful dress that I got when I was in Philadelphia. It's a little hard to see, but it is navy featherweight wool and has incredible seaming detailing. It's from Marie LeFleur, New York City, and once I tried it on, it was love.
The shoes are needlepoint Maryjanes. I wondered why I never wear them and it's because the ankle strap on one keeps sliding around my ankle. It was a little bit irritating, but I am older and wiser now, and can tolerate a little irritation. My necklace is costume.
On August 13th, I wore a sundress by Taylor. I also wore my vintage cord belt and another pair of ignored shoes. They are elaborate gladiators. They are also now in the rotation, like the Maryjanes.
Here's a look at the belt. The necklace is from the Taste of Charlotte, and I got it when I was there a couple of years ago.
I wore a white jacket from Theory on top for the air conditioning and also to comply with the dress code at work.
This next outfit is one I have repeated, and I love it. The slacks are from Ann Taylor and they are ivory. The top is from Ivanka Trump and it is a sheer textured knit with satin at the hem and cuffs.
I always get a lot of compliments on this outfit.
On August 15th, I decided to convert an outfit from wedding attire (that's what I bought it for) to work wear. I paired the Tibi jacket and top with ivory slacks from Georgiou. For the wedding, I wore an ivory satin skirt.
Here's a better look. The top has a lot of cutouts, so for work, I wore a tank underneath and did not take the jacket off.
On Friday, August 16th, I went casual. I wore white Calvin Klein pants with a blue chiffon top from Worthington.
I wore turquoise and silver with this - that seemed like the natural choice.
On Monday, August 19th, I wore joggers from Old Navy.
They have orange, white, and olive stripes down the sides.
I wore them with a tank from WalMart and a beaded bolero sweater from INC. These tanks were $2, so I figured they would fall apart, but I got a white one that is absolutely great, so I got another white and this rust color when we were last at WalMart.
I bought my costume necklace at the gift shop here at the hospital.
My faux Gucci bee cuff was another Philly purchase. I spent an afternoon walking around and shopping there.
Yesterday, on August 20th, I wore some pindot leggings, also from Old Navy, and a cold shoulder top from Ann Taylor.
Both necklaces were my mom's. The longer one is silver herringbone and the shorter one is KJL.
My mother of pearl spaceship ring and a David Yurman cuff are the finishing touches.
Today, I am wearing a vintage silk dress from Teri Jon.
I matched it with a necklace that I got at the church rummage sale, and a brushed gold cuff from INC.
My August Ipsy bag came .
Here's what was inside, from top to bottom:
1) Papa Recipe Bombee Honey Moisture Cleansing Foam
2) Huda Beauty Super Long Wear Matte Lip liner in Trophy Wife
3) Color Club Nail Lacquer in Ghosted
4) Inc.redible Jelly shot Lip Quencher in Ex Revenge
5) Pixi by Petra Fresh Face Blush in Whisper Pink
When we go to WalMart, I always get chew bones for all three dogs. Kenni and Vinni get it - they gnaw on theirs immediately. Pandi, however, is a hoarder. She carries her treasures around and then stashes them somewhere.
This one ended up in the metal bucket full of toys that you see in the background.
As long as she is happy, I am happy.
And that's about it - I will keep you updated if anything exciting happens, but don't count on it!!
