Sadness

Last week, I got a call from an old friend. She asked me if I had heard about our boss from 15 or 20 years ago. I figured that something bad had happened, like a heart attack. But it turned out to be even worse than I imagined. Last Wednesday, his 27 year old son murdered him, his wife, and their maid. He was truly one of the nicest people in the world. I can't believe it. Although it has obviously made the news, there haven't been too many details because it's an active investigation. I tried to find out when and if there will be any services. The family was LDS and the phone at their ward has been busy all day. When I finally got through, they said that they weren't answering any questions - I'm sure that reporters have been bugging them like crazy.

It seems kind of uncaring to move right along, but....this started as a fashion and lifestyle blog, so. This is what I wore on February 11th:

These are my Gucci joggers that I got in London, along with a Calvin Klein pirate style sweater.

My vintage chain belt added the perfect touch.

And I also wore one of my mom's Joan Rivers necklaces with the interchangeable colored stones.

On Tuesday, one of my friends commented that I looked like I stepped off the set of Mod Squad.

This is a Bisou Bisou tunic with ponte pants.

The tunic has jet crystal embellishment around the neckline. I wore emeralds and faux emeralds with this.

On Wednesday, I wore my Santana knit skater dress from Rachel Roy. It's deep royal blue with a band of black at the hem.

It's hard to see the colors. It was pouring rain that entire day, and this was the day that Rick was murdered.

I wore all sapphires with this dress.

Today, I am wearing new pants from Style and Co. As you can see in the next picture, there is a rhinestone tuxedo strip down each leg. However, they are at least two sizes too big. But they were cheap, and I didn't try them on since I figured small would be okay. I got them a while back, so too late to return. I'll just wash and dry them and see how that works out.

My red wool gabardine safari jacket is from Ports 1861. I am also wearing a black and white honeycomb patterned sleeveless turtleneck from INC.

All pearls today, even my rings.

Our wedding anniversary was on the 9th. Doc got me another huge floral arrangement - this time, stargazer lilies.

I gave him a framed quote from AA Milne - I think Winnie the Pooh said this to either Tigger or Piglet.

Patrice sent me the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy for my birthday - I can't wait to read it !!

This beautiful card may be worth trying to recreate in acrylic when I am in the mood.

For Valentine's Day, a friend at work gave me this. It folds out into a full size reusable grocery bag.

Due to all the rain, I haven't been doing my favorite run lately. But on Saturday, it was sunny, so off to HB Central Park I went.

Some people had their water dogs splashing around. The birds didn't seem concerned at all.

When we parked, the parking lot was unusually full. There were two reasons - there was a Pokemon Go event going on, and a Colonial War recreation.

The sturdy tents looked like the one we went glamping in at Riley's Farm last summer.

Looks like the native Americans were included too !!

The participants were happy to explain anything you wanted to hear about - check out the Union Jack in the background.

And that's about it for now. On Thursday, I am supposed to take my MIL to the Huntington Library for a visit, but it's also supposed to rain again. So I think we will be in a holding pattern. I really want to go, so we will decide on Wednesday.

See you all soon !!!
