Another Giant Hurdle Passed!!

Ugh. It is now mid-July, and I have crawled through 2.5 months of my 3.5 month sentence. I am working all alone on a desert island until everyone comes back from maternity leave.Last week was my final series of meetings, since we are dark in August. I now have 3 more meetings to chair before I am FFRREEEE!!!.So this is what I wore to do all of this :

Monday saw me wearing a scuba knit skirt from Stein Mart and a top from Coldwater Creek.

The top has a chiffon scarf detail with bugle beading on the edges.  Lots of silver, lapis, and sapphires.

On Tuesday, I went to LA with Doc to see a man about my horse. Details to follow, hopefully.
On Wednesday, I wore some Slinky Brand knit slacks and a top from Apt 9, a Kohl's brand.

Since I haven't shopped at Kohl's in years, this must be old.

It has some sparkly stones at the neckline. This outfit was as comfy as scrubs. I wore my weird lapis necklace.

On my left arm, a costume bracelet with crystals, a sapphire/diamond ring, and a diamond cluster ring.

On my right arm, two silver bracelets and a sapphire/diamond ring.

On Thursday, I wore a pullover dress from Stein Mart. It has an elastic blouson waist. Also extremely comfy.

This necklace is a KJL piece.

The dress has silver ribbon lattice work on the sleeves.

On Friday, I had the meeting at which I would be most scrutinized. I wore this Taylor dress. It is also extremely comfy.

Today, I am wearing ponte pants and a rayon top from Nordstrom.

My black coral necklace seemed like the perfect accent.

The front of the top is covered in seed beads. The chrysanthemums are pink and white beads.

This weekend, as I was putting away some stuff,  I found this mask, and figured why not?

I look like the serial killer from Halloween.

It did smell nice. It did not make me thirty years younger.

And my Ipsy bag came. I got a few things that I actually need.

1) Smashbox Studio 24 hour waterproof concealer (full size)
2) Beautyblend eyeliner
3) Luscious Face Contour kit - this is alot of makeup for me, so I may give it away
4) Briogeo Scalp Revival Cooling Jelly Conditioner
5) MD Mint Pear Rosehip Night Serum

I like that Ipsy gives me a couple of full size items.

Anyway, meeting #1 is tomorrow morning, so see you all soon !!

Happy Fourth of July

I only worked two days last week. We are encouraged to flex off during holidays, because direct patient care costs so much on time and a half days. This is what I wore on Monday :

One of the dresses that I got at the neighbor's garage sale over the weekend.

On top, I wore a gold satin jacket that is the top of a 2 part set.

And my INC costume necklaces that I got in Orlando a few years ago.

On Tuesday morning, I had a couple of errands to do. First, we needed new pillows for our sofa, and I found these cute camel ones at Hobby Lobby.

Here they are, in place.

Here's a better look at the art on the wall behind the sofa, to give you a better idea of why camels were a good choice. My MIL Mimi, drew the camel portrait.

Then, I put a few old pictures of Doc from medical school in a collage frame..
I liked the poem a lot for these - it was perfect.

For lunch, I made Cuban sandwiches. They are roast pork, ham, gouda cheese, pickle relish and yellow mustard.

Then you pan fry them like grilled cheese. We had fruit cocktail as a side.

After that,  I made a trip to Home Depot. They were having a big sale. Here are all the flowers I bought. I stuffed  them in the passenger seat of my MB SLK.

They filled the whole front. It has only two seats. I washed and vacuumed and polished Snowball this morning.

I got three red vinca to brighten up the front shelf.

Both sides of the front porch got a lot of colorful flowers. The giant pot of petunias was only $5.

Likewise, the clump got fresh soil and lots of gazania.

I planted everything on Wednesday morning. That evening (the 4th), we went to a party and saw some old friends. It was fun.

On Thursday, I didn't do much. I went for a run, and then made a couple of bouquets. The beautiful and fragrant orange roses are blooming.

Likewise, the birds of paradise are also doing pretty well.

And I put two gerbera daisies on the furniture - they are $3.98 and last a heck of a lot longer than a bouquet.

Friday saw the start of a horrible three day heat wave. It was 96 degrees here at the beach. I wore long sleeves to work, because sometimes the office over compensates and the air conditioning is too much.

I wore a pale aqua chiffon skirt from Sharagano and a matching blouse from Liz Claiborne.

The skirt has a mermaid tail and clear crystals scattered about. The blouse has tiny silver studs.

I wore a costume moonstone necklace and a vintage gold chain belt.

It was way too hot to do anything after work except kick it in the pool. I also made a nice snack.

Yesterday, I went for a short run and saw the most horrible thing. A guy in a Porsche Cayenne took a left turn way too fast and creamed three parked cars. I ran and hid behind a work truck as he sped away. They caught him later at his mother's house and charged him with felony DUI and felony hit and run. I have noticed a few cars parked weirdly lately - it appears as though people might be partying a bit too much. Something to keep in mind when running, dog walking or driving.

Later in the day, Pandi and I took a walk around the mall. She was beat when we got home - I had to carry her half of the way home.

Poor Pan. Well, tomorrow it's back to work for me. Temperatures should be just a bit above normal.
