I am NOT Ready for my Close Up,Mr DeMille

Ugh. I have not had good luck with my pictures lately. Last night, we went to a Christmas Fireside at the local LDS church, where three of my grandkids sang in the children's choir. This is what I wore:

This is a gold lurex turtleneck with a pair of slim ankle pants from Ann Taylor. I look rather bunchy again.

On top, I wore a vintage jacket. It is black on black brocade with lush faux fur cuffs.

The closeup is not the greatest, either. It's actually a beautiful jacket, and I try to wear it at least a couple of times a year.

I accessorized with a gold herringbone chain, with a faux emerald pendant.

Another favorite item that I break out during the holidays are these velvet and gold embroidered booties from Speigel.

Today - a different lurex turtleneck, but still bunchy!!!. And Doc told me that he liked this outfit.

The plaid skirt has it's share of lurex also, but with a black plaid. It's from The Limited.

I kept the same necklace as last night, but added a smaller, real emerald.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding rings ad two gold bracelets, both two-toned metal.

On my right arm, an emerald/diamond ring, a gold bracelet, and a peridot bracelet.

Just before I went to work, little Pandi was missing. I found her in one of our blankets. I was about to toss it onto the bed. It's a good thing I saw the little black and white head peeking out.

She did not appreciate being disturbed.

So let's forget the crummy pictures and link to some better ones!!!

Sleigh Bells Are Ringin'

The parties are upon me. It is a love/hate relationship. I have to perform appropriately, but that is counteracted because I get to dress up. Yesterday, it was windy again - I'm sure you know that California has multiple wildfires going on. I have such empathy for those poor people. One thing that I did get to experience was the incredible amount of electricity in the air. This beautiful Calvin Klein sweater dress got all bunchy because I wore cotton tights instead of nylon ones.

See how the skirt is all scrunchy? I forgot about the dryer sheet trick, so I used the hairspray trick and that worked pretty well. At least the skirt fell to my knees normally. I had to spray the tights and my half slip. Ugh.

Underneath this normally gorgeous aubergine dress, I wore a gold lurex tank by St John. Three gold necklaces gussied it up - the short pineapple from Honolulu, the gold herringbone from my Mom, and the long lock from Doc and Louis Vuitton.

When I got in the elevator, two little old ladies were in there, and one said "Aren't you fancy!!!". Indeed I am, and plan on always being fancy. On my left arm, Hermes CDC and yellow gold wedding rings.

On the right arm, a ruby cocktail ring and a seed bead bracelet from the Chakra Shack in Laguna Beach.

Today was the party at Ola Mexican Kitchen in Huntington Beach. It was a work event. I started with a deep forest green wool knit dress by Land's End. I had always considered that a matronly brand, but I tell you, this dress has excellent figure flattering seaming, pockets, and is wool blend knit, so super comfy. The floral part is a belt that I will show you below.

I accessorized the forest dress with a red YSL chain bag and black suede Sesto Meucci pumps with red organza rosettes. Very Holiday Appropriate.

On top, I wore an ivory ottoman jacket by St John, with the coolest gold features . I have good pictures of this, but can't find them. It is an elegant, luxe, heavyweight ottoman woven fabric.

The gemmies are likewise holiday themed. The shortest is an emerald/diamond necklace that Doc gave me. The middle one is the same gold herringbone as yesterday, but with a garnet rollerball added.

For the long length, the LV lock and gold chain from yesterday. This is a closeup of the embroidery on the velvet obi. It also has two long cords with lush tassels that come with it, and they give you a guide on different ways to tie them. Spiegel had them for 90% off, so I got this one and a gold/black combo one. But I have not had time to play with them. I think that this holiday season should be a great time.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding rings, a peridot bracelet, and a ruby bracelet.

On my right arm, an emerald/diamond ring, a garnet bracelet, and a gold bracelet.

It's Finally Sweater Weather

After the heat wave over Thanksgiving (it got up to 87 degrees in Huntington Beach) and then our trip to toasty Arizona, it's finally cool enough to wear a jacket in the mornings and evenings. So my two outfits naturally feature blazers. This is what I wore yesterday:

This blazer is by Ferre. I am wearing it with some sailor style pants from Soft Surroundings. I bought this outfit in Denver in 2008, when I was at a conference and ran out of clothes. I spilled red wine on the pants I was planning to wear. They didn't get stained, but it's generally considered bad form to smell like booze at a medical conference. :)

Underneath, I have a silver lurex cowl neck sweater that I got at Stein Mart.

My resin costume necklace is also from Stein Mart.

On my left arm, a costume bangle from eBay, a wide eternity band, and a marquise solitaire.

On my right arm, a marcasite ring that was a Xmas gift, and two Austrian crystal bracelets.

Today, I am wearing a dress and blazer combination. This black and white boucle dress has a label that just says Forever.

On top, a black on black stripe longer length blazer that is from Dana Buchman.

The necklace that matches the bracelets I wore yesterday makes an appearance. You can see the plaid fabric and the empire bow on the dress here.

On my left arm, a bracelet that I got up in LA on Melrose Avenue, a pear solitaire and a thin eternity band.

On my right arm, an onyx spaceship ring, and the same two bracelets as yesterday.

Pandi loves to curl up on any human clothing that ends up on the floor. So yesterday, when I put my Donna Salyer faux fur handbag on the dining room floor to read a piece of mail, this happened.....

I know she is my dog, but isn't she the cutest thing ever?

Back, But Not in Black

Sorry, ACDC. I'm back in purple!!

This is a knit dress from Ann Taylor. It's very comfy and has ruffle trim around the neckline.

On top, a blazer from Sara Feinberg. The devil is in the details on this one.

It has very fine pinstriping and bugle beads scattered all over.

The beads get more concentrated as they get closer to the hem of both the bodice and the sleeves.

I wore my purple Austrian crystals as today's necklace.

On my right arm, a tanzanite ring and my Tiffany bracelet.

On my left arm, a purple crystal ring and a silver bracelet with multi-colored gemstones.

There was one thing that I forgot to mention about the Embassy Suites in Tempe, Arizona, where we stayed. They have three pet bunnies who live on the property and hop around. They even occasionally go into the bar and lobby. The shuttle driver told me that they haven't had a litter for about a year, and since they don't fight, I am guessing that they are all females.

There is one white one, one black one, and one white one with black edging on the ears.

On Friday, we went to Antiques Gatherings, a store in Phoenix. Doc found two antique medical books there, one from 1876. Down the mall, there was a store called Book Gallery, and he found two more there. He was delighted.

This was hanging in Antique Gatherings - can you guess what it is, and what it could possible be used for ???

PS I did NOT buy it.
