Like most of us, I remember what I was doing on September 11. I was running and listening to Howard Stern on the radio before he went over to Sirius. I thought it was a bad joke at first. It seems like this week in September is cursed, doesn't it?
Well, back to the fluff of life - that helps us all with the tougher stuff. Here's what I wore on Friday:
This is a Free People skirt that I have had for a long time. I am wearing it with a polyester tiered tank that I got at Stein Mart. It was a hot day and we had a power outage, so no post on Friday.
I wore a costume necklace made of black, burgundy and gold faceted beads.
On my left arm, a costume ring and bracelet, with different color crystals.
On my right arm, a costume ring with brown crystals and a leather / pewter horsebit bracelet,
My September Birchbox came. Of course, I love the gold foil box.
Here's what was inside, from top to bottom:
1) Klorane Shampoo and Conditioner with Chamomile for blonde hair.
2) Origins Checks and Balances Cleanser
3) Beauty Protector Protect and Oil for Hair
4) Lord and Berry Glow Strobing Pencil
5) Pixi by Petra Lip Lift Max
Here's what I am wearing today :
This is an ancient pair of Ann Taylor ivory slacks, with a Charter Club ombre jacket and a St John lurex tank.
The jacket has a crocodile-type pattern. I am wearing a costume INC necklace.
On my left arm, a stretchy crystal bracelet from Saks and an INC X ring.
On my right arm, another costume ring and a Betsy Johnson leopard cuff.
One of my coworkers saw this sign and got it for me. I immediately hung it next to my tribute to Elli.
It's in the "sentimental" corner of the sun room.

Les Deux Robes
More French. Such a pretty language. The first dress was yesterday's getup:
This is an H&M sleeveless dress with an Ideology cardigan on top. I managed to refrain from wearing this on July 4th.
My necklace is another one of my mom's pieces. It is by Joan Rivers, and the red stone is interchangeable, with many color options.
On my left arm, a ruby bracelet and my yellow gold wedding rings.
On my right arm, a garnet ring and a costume cuff from INC.
Today, the next dress. Ignore the bottom right corner - I forgot to pick up Pandi's night time pee pad before Doc took my photos.
I have had this no-name cowl neck shift dress for years. It slips over my head and is super comfy.
It has the kind of subtle pattern that allows me to wear a variety of jewelry with it. Today, I chose my two faux turquoise necklaces that I got in Las Vegas a couple of years ago.
On my left arm, a crystal/beaded bracelet from Neiman Marcus and my yellow gold wedding rings.
On my right arm, my INC X ring and a gold/diamond dust bangle.
After he was finished taking my pictures, Doc yelled "Look out for Pandi's pad !!!" A little late to the party.

Et Fini !!!
I have finally finished the Great Closet and Garage Clean Out of 2017 !!! Let us rejoice. The timing was good, not only because the weather was awful over the weekend, but also because the Salvation Army needs my unloved clothes for people who will appreciate them.
Here is one of the remaining dresses:
This is an elastic waist silk shift from Bar III. The pattern reminds me of a coral reef for some reason.
On top, I wore a thin waterfall cardigan from Mixology.
It has a surprise in the back - all lace !!
I had my other ivory cardi all picked out, but it had two large stains on the drapey parts. It is now in the laundry and if the stains don't come out, I still have this one.
I wore my Joan Rivers convertible pin/pendant with the coral and turquoise insets.
On my left arm, a vintage costume bracelet and my yellow gold wedding rings.
On my right arm, a turquoise enamel bangle and a chalcedony ring.
So now that I have finished all my home repair and decluttering, I can start doing daily outfits and linking again. Hold on to your hats !!

Late or Early ?
I used this long Labor Day weekend for some late spring cleaning or early fall cleaning - whatever works. I also took the opportunity to do a few small home improvement and painting projects. We usually hang around town because it's both Joseph and Benjamin's birthdays this weekend. We gave them cash - they are now getting to be at the age where they have a wish list of things they want to buy.
The next day, I went for a run in Central Park. It has been really hot here in SoCal and there have been huge wild fires up north of LA, so I got out early before the heat and smoke made running tough. As I rounded a bend, look what I saw - my forever obsession - the Egyptian Geese had a flock of 7 chicks.
They are just the cutest - now there are 18 of them in Huntington Beach Central Park.
The other big deal in HB over Labor Day is the Civil War Re-enactment that brings people from all over the place. At least it wasn't as hot as the event at Riley's Farm in July.
Luckily, the park has lots of shade, and most of the event was under the trees.
Here is the command center.
There wasn't a lot of activity this early in the morning.
But folks were starting to get up and get things all set up for the spectators.
Breakfast and coffee were being prepared.
Look how pretty and cultured their dining areas are !!
One of my favorite tents is the combo of Chinese Laundry/ Tavern/ French Girls offering.
I guess Faro Games are some form of gambling.
Just like now, people begin to enjoy their libations very early. I'm sure that it makes all the hard work and the heat more tolerable.
The band was up early, all dressed and ready for practice.
There were a lot of ladies in their Civil War finery, ready to visit and socialize.
Look at these pretty lasses, greeting one another.
There wasn't a lot of action around pup tent central, but I would bet that these guys were in the band or one of the other attractions.
I have never seen them fire, but I am guessing that these buckets have black powder and other ammo in them.
They are unloaded from large wagons and set up in formation.
There is also a morning prayer area set up for those who want to give praise.
Those folks were also getting the coffee and rolls ready for the group.
One man brought his 1862 Gatling Gun.
It's a pretty impressive piece of armament.
Later in the day, Doc had a medical event for patients to come and be serviced at a one stop venue.
This is what I wore to go and say hello. Of course, I did not take pictures at the event, because patients deserve their privacy.
This is a Sunny Leigh crystal pleated island style dress - almost like a muumuu.
Here's a better look at the print.
The only accessory was my necklace that I got as a souvenir in San Luis Obispo a few years ago.
The final wearing of the Style and Company wedges before they go into the rubbish - they are pretty worn out.
So that's it for the weekend so far - now for the links !!!
