Flexing and Falling

Yesterday, I worked all day and then went to an event at Morton's, which is a steakhouse. I had a filet mignon and it was delicious. But I had to wear my outfit for about 12 hours, which can be tough and make me itchy and uncomfortable. It turned out okay. This is what I wore:

This outfit is a pair of Ann Taylor slacks, an ivory lurex top, and a mint green polyester shirt with little silver studs on it.

This silver and  abalone necklace is from Cookie Lee.

Also, my August Birchbox arrived. The theme is perfect for the weather lately in Huntington Beach.

Here's what was inside ( left to right ) :
1) Marcelle City Octinoxate Tinted Cream
2) Stila Stay All Day Lipstick in Perla
3) Glam Glow Thirsty Mud Hydrating Treatment
4) Acure Day Cream with gotu kola and chlorella
5) Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo

This morning, I flexed off from work to help meet budget. I was more than willing. I wanted to go to the fair, but I got up early by habit. So I went for another walk in Newport Beach Back Bay while I talked on the phone. Unfortunately, I got distracted and fell down a little cliff. I scraped up my elbows and have what feels like rug burn on my legs. Oh well, I went to the bathroom at Ralph's Supermarket and washed all the scrapes thoroughly. Then I sat at Cliff Park and enjoyed the beautiful day for a while.

Most of the surrounding houses are new and ultra luxurious, but there was this old one right in the middle that looked like it may have been built in the 1920s.

The area with the tall buildings is Lido Island, one of the islands in Newport Bay.

The red roof belongs to the Rusty Pelican, a restaurant. I have had many lovely Happy Hours at the Rusty P.

This was about 11 AM. As you can see, the coastal haze burned off early today.

Then I finally got to the Orange County Fair. Here is the fairway and the Euro Slide.

First on the agenda was food. I had chili cheese fries with onions.

Then I went straight to the animals. They are my favorites, of course. The Budweiser Clydesdales were there. I have seen them before, and they are gorgeous.

They had camels this year. They have never had them before. They were so cute, and their weird saddles were also displayed. They fit over the hump and have sort of a cage around the seat.

All of the camels were dromedaries. There were also a couple of friendly horses whose owners allowed them to interact with everyone.

And there were a couple of llama. This one had blue eyes and was strangely fascinated with me.

These are angora goats. Check out the curly horns on the big male.

There were only a few rabbits. My favorite was the Belgian Hare.

I was a sucker for the petting zoo. I bought a $2 sack of food for all the sweet sheep and goats.

Baa Baa Black Sheep. This one has lots of wool.

This spotted goat was really frisky and jumping around, which excited the little kids.

Then I walked through the Avian Barn and saw a bunch of crazy-pretty birds.

They also had a Fun Farm, with cows and chickens and chicks.

The sow with her piglets is always a big crowd pleaser. The farmer told me that the piglets get this big in 2 years.

She had pink piglets, pink piglets with black splotches, and black and white piglets. The farmer said that he never knows what color the piglets will be.

Lots of chicks under heat lamps for people to see.

Then I went through the Parade of Products and got some Garli Ghetti and Guacamole Seasoning. After that, I left because my scrapes hurt and I didn't want to get caught in rush hour on my way back to HB.

We are going to a luau tomorrow, and I have to get my costume ready. So let's link :

Wardrobe Malfunction Week

I have been having a bad style week. On Monday, I had to change my dress since the one I had picked out was too short for work. Then, I poked my finger through my hosiery as I was changing. And yesterday, I got some unknown substance on my jacket somewhere between the house and the hospital. It's on the left pocket.

So here is the whole outfit. It's a Damons and Drapers jacket with a Byer dress underneath and Charles Jourdan shoes.

On my left arm, my yellow gold wedding set and my Hermes CDC.

On my right arm, a crystal/enamel ring from Saks and a studded leather cuff.

I also forgot to take a picture of my necklace, but here it is on another day. It is a pearl strand with 4 or 5 different pendants that can be attached, and I believe it is from Joan Rivers.

Then, this morning, one of the arms of my Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses fell off. I managed to put it back on with my eyeglass repair kit. Just out of curiosity, I emailed the company and included the authenticity certificate in my note, as well as a picture of the glasses and the case. The case is fabric covered and it has gotten mangy over the years, so they are sending me a new case!!!. Very nice customer service.  Here is what I am wearing, along with the repaired glasses.

This is a pair of ancient white drawstring pants, along with a top and swing jacket from Bob Mackie.

Doc likes these really sideways shots lately, but I think I look like a surfboard from the side. Not a good look.

Here's a closeup shot, so you can see the bright silver sequins on the top and the gray sequins on the jacket.

I resurrected one of my favorite old costume necklaces for this getup.

On my right arm, a costume silver/crystal bracelet and my Swarovski Trema ring.

On mt left arm, some white bangles from the swap meet, an eternity band, and a pear solitaire.

Well, that's about it for today - hopefully, tomorrow's fashion adventures will be nice and mellow.
